Dolphins are going to get smoked.

I dont think the transfer portal is working that way, though. They need some restrictions on it.

Basically too many kids are transferring and its completely unregulated.  As a coach, I have no idea how youd build a program like that.

The transfer portal is working like the minor leagues in baseball.  Players prove themselves and get promoted to The Big Show.  The cities that host AAA baseball teams have no problem with that.  The owners of the AAA teams have no problem with that. College football is simply emulating a tried and true economic model.

Whats up with Ravens players representing themselves?

Now we have the template for TJ Edwards’ extension.

Sure, money is a major factor now, but it always has been too for a lot of these programs. That's why you were called naive in the first place.

Ok, so you see its not just a coaching failure to retain recruits.  You were oversimplifying the issue.

Athletes transfer for any number of reasons and theyre allowed to do so without any repercussions or considerations of the football program.  I dont think thats right any more than a coach leaving after signing a contract.

There has to be some sort of structure that lends some stability to these programs and provides a soft landing for the players.

Right now its a lose-lose, and the only thing hiding the absolute chaos is the 4-5 programs who are insulated, the colleges who are Too Big To Fail.

Its not great for the overall health of the sport when only casuals tune in for big games

Should the players still be students and have to enroll in and take classes?

My gut feeling on the Tampa/Dallas game is either the Cowboys will blow out Tampa or they will lose in a close game.  I think the Vikings/Giants game should be close.  I think the Giants may win if they can get to Cousins.  They definitely have an advantage on the d-line over the Vikings' o-line.

I’ve felt this way for a while but Dallas is not the same team on the road. They are 4-4 on the season. Lost to eagles, jags, commanders and packers. Lost 4 of their last 6 road games. The only game where they looked great on the road was Minnesota. When you look at the rest of their schedule, werent the same team on the road. They have some wins, but those games were all closely contested except for that Vikings game. They averaged 24.6 ppg on the road (without Minnesota they are at 22.4ppg. So an entire touchdown less on the road- includes a titans game where they had no one playing). At home they are scoring 29.7 ppg. Defensively they’ve actually gotten worse on the road in their last 3 games as compared to their first 5. in their first 5 road games (giants, rams, eagles, packers and Vikings) gave up 16.6 ppg on the road. The last 3 which all came the final month of the year 26.3 ppg and one of those games was with dobbs as the titans starting Qb and no Henry

Additionally this is going to be the third consecutive road game. It is really hard in the NFL to win the third consecutive road game. Even when it’s against a bad team, you tend to be sloppier and not as crisp.

Was going to say that seems like it's good for Lamar but that's only 45M guaranteed where I think Lamar wants it fully guaranteed

TCU is a flash in the pan.  They only benefitted from the Texas/OU vacuum.   It will be short lived.  Wait til they lose a couple games next year and their entire recruiting class transfers

Won’t happen in my opinion.  But if it does Dykes will reload with three star recruits.

That has become the NCAA Basketball model. When the players enter the NBA portal the teams reload with new recruits. However, some programs like Gonzaga and Villanova keep their players for all four years.  Individual strokes for different folks.

This weekend is gonna be a dud if Jackson and Tua don't play.

I am hoping the Hawks/49ers game is competitive.  I think Tua doesn't help that much against Buffalo. I think the Bills are going to be focused and ready.  The Ravens are toast without Jackson.  Even if he goes, I can't imagine he would be 100%.

Not only their road vs. home splits but they're also a worse team on grass vs. turf. It slows their pass rush down and they can't seem to make the transition. Tampa has a grass field...

The first two things I listed are coaching factors. I never said it was only coaching factors, only that they are a big part of the equation if you have a yearly mass exodus.

Maxx Crosby is better than Reddick. Reddick has been fantastic for us, but Crosby is just a different animal.

And he was not a Day One pick in the Draft.

Ravens are likely losing regardless of whether Lamar plays lol

Another factor. Also i suspect Bowles has a really good defensive game plan for the cowboys like he did week 1. Add on Dallas has been getting worse on the road since Minnesota.  They lost to the jags, titans with a bunch of backups gave them everything they could handle for 3.5 quarters and then got smoked by the commanders with a rookie Qb in his first game. They are getting worse on the road as the season has gone on. And it’s their 3rd straight road game

and it could of been 3 scores and have garbage time come back. it equals out

so your ok with a trash product as long as you get to see a hated team get smoked.

Why is it trash if a team puts on a top notch offensive display ??

If Ohio State or Alabama is getting blown out, is that due to a divide in talent ??  Are they not still one of the 4 best teams ??

Sometimes it just works out that way.

If you are UGA fan like @Iggles25, you are not reflecting today and thinking you wish the game was a nail biter.

Both of the semi final games were nail biters, some days when two good teams play, one just has the better day, and sometimes it is a much better day.

Do you think die hards didn’t tune in last night? They were likely the only ones left when it got out of hand quickly.

And where was all this bishing during the semifinals? @Bacarty2 that’s what I meant by fake outrage.

There have been stretches in the NFL where the conference title games are far better than the Super Bowl. It happens. To act like the whole system is crumbling or needs to be blown up is all a bunch of hot air

There are going to be plenty of winners and losers when this thing shakes out.  The bowls are going to be on the side of the losers.

I think you may be wrong about that. Some bowls maybe, but the majority of them are essentially an excuse for a mid-Winter party that brings lots of "other people’s money” to their community.

Youre making theoretical arguments that arent playing out in reality.

The timelines dont make sense, and huge amounts of resources are being wasted.  It wont go on forever.

All programs are losing players for a number of reasons, its not always this efficient ever-improving model like youre making it out to be
