Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

I have a theory on this. I believe you only preferred it because it was what you were conditioned to expect, what you were used to.

When the schedule moved from 14 to 16 games there were people who were not happy about that either. And one day there will be people who’ll have grown up in a 17 games schedule and won’t accept it any other way.

why is 16 the magic number to be the elegant format and not 15 or 14 or 10 or 20? Because we’re used to 16, that’s all.

Maybe you’re right.  But I’ll say this…more than 16 games is bad.  It only negatively affects player health and availability.

So, if I’m conditioned to 16, then maybe 14 games was better than 16.  But the magic number certainly isn’t over 16.

There are 3 A-tier teams in each conference. Eagles/Chiefs will only have to play one, instead of 2. The path is clear.

I’ve seen the word masterful used to describe dak and the cowboys performance already today. Jesus h Christ they have won their first playoff game on the road in thirty years. Let’s not hand out trophies just yet.

And that’s why one upset was critical for us.  Our SB odds are much better with NYG —> SF than DAL —> SF.

Same mistake as the falcons in the super bowl. So dumb.

This is why I'm not too worried about the 9ers. Shannahan always finds ways to piss away games

SF / DAL game feels like a toss up....my guess, Purdy comes down to earth playing a real defense and DAL wins a close one.

I have the other side of it. Sf runs the ball down their throat and outcoaches dallas badly while their D beats the snot out of dak

Against a bad team

It makes such a difference. Look at the Chiefs vs. the Bengals. The Chiefs came out flat after that game vs. the Bills. The Chiefs also had an easy playoff game the week before, but it's just hard to play 3 straight, locked-in playoff games. Can Dallas beat SF & us? Sure. It's just asking a lot to go on the road for *5* straight weeks (last 2 regular season games were on the road). That does catchup with you.

Early line is giving the Cowboys 4 points against the Niners which will presumably shrink to 3(?) over the course of the week. That’s a Cowboys line IMO and a strong hint that the unthinkable is about to happen (Cowboys may be going to the NFCCG).

Worst part: they looked awesome last night.

That’s the best part…they usually only play that well after embarrassing themselves.  Once they start smelling themselves it’s over.  Maybe they can ride the momentum one more game, but I doubt it.  The 49ers D will get to Dak.

Dallas needs to hope Purdy’s carriage turns back into a pumpkin….otherwise they lose

The Bucs were totally incompetent and Brady looked like he was done.

Im just going to bask in all the attention the Niners and Cowboys get this week, since thats the de facto NFCCG.

And that Daboll, what a guy, did you see him get so emotional about Jones?  What a coach.

If the Eagles weren't playing a NY team I wonder if theyd forget to televise our game.

I think the Eagles are going to come out with a serious chip on their shoulders

The media love fest that the Eagles were enjoying mid season certainly has come to an end.  I was talking to someone about that yesterday.  I love it….it’s good for them.  It sort of reminds me of all the doubters after Wentz went down in 2017

Yup. Purdy won't need to throw much. Run, run, run

I knew the Bucs were bad, but not that baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.  Needs a full reset as some players just stopped playing for Bowles and I'm not sure Arians would have polished that turd any better. The roster looks done and it was Arians putting the band back together that did it to them.

At least we can move onto the Gint game now.

How do you know?

Id like to see if after 5 years or so, and then maybe after 10 years, if the incidence of injury in the final game is any higher than the previous 16.

Or if injury rates become higher in playoff games after the extended season.

Or, if each of those games is the same as any other game. If so, theyll end up expanding it even more.

But then, even further down the line, we will have to see if careers are shortened.

The thing to look at it in a 16 game season is how many players started 16 games and the snap count vs a 17 game season and snap count, and when injuries occur.  Then layer over the playoffs too.

Unserious franchise

Looks like I'm avoiding all NFL media/content until Saturday with the way all the Cowboy slobbing is looking already 🤮

The Cowboys have played like that before, when they destroyed Minnesota. That is their ceiling, what we saw last night. But their floor is how they play against Washington to end the season.

I don't like any overconfidence going into the Giants game. That team wins because other teams F up. Eagles, despite their massive talent advantage, can't afford to F up.

It was Brady and Jason Licht who did that, and they moved Arians out of the way to do it.  When Brady "retired" the Bucs were talking about a reset; when Brady "un-retired" Licht decided to start signing the old guys for one more run.

It all comes down to who returns and how fit for purpose they are. A relatively robust Hurts and Johnson makes all the difference. We are at home. We shouldn't be arrogant and assume it's all done and dusted but I suspect the team comes fired up for this one, especially sitting this past weekend out and seeing the media cast aspersions on the team.
