Agreed.  The rush D is not a major weakness.  Perhaps the Niners are so good they can exploit it anyway but I don't think they gash the Eagles on the ground.

An interesting matchup here is Reddick/Sweat/BG vs the TE pre-snap motion/ FB I-formation lead blocks - they really like to exploit the DT-DE C gap.  Also, Sweat in particular needs to be wary of jet sweeps as his awareness hasn't been the best there.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

If they can’t gash the Eagles on the ground, not sure how they expect to score the requisite amount of points then. Seems to me that they are coming in here expecting to be able to move the ball on the ground and then run action based off of that.

For sure and I think they end up with moderate success.  They can still win 16-13 or something if their D can stop us.  Don't think they will do enough of that either but I do think it will be pretty close.

Totally agree with this one.  We've been a bit weak against certain types of pitches and sweeps.

Xfinity sold out. They had a Giants rally last weekend too.

Also "brave” lmao. How soft.

That's a recipe for trouble

@LeanMeanGM:

Eagles 27 Niners 23:

Scoop /Score for the winner.

This is a Fletcher Cox/Javon Hargrave game. If they dominate, we're winning. Hargrave has been quiet for about a month. He was arguably our best player in November. Banks-Brendel-Burford are 100% gettable + Purdy isn't fast. He'll bail out of pockets, but he's not Daniel Jones, Dak, Fields, etc.

That's probably 10 to 15 minutes from where I live. I took some classes at that TCC campus (near the Golf Club), many moons ago.

I checked all of the hometowns listed on both the 1967 and 1970 Chiefs rosters and Lanier was the only Virginian, so your player must have moved their from another part of the country.

Yeah, I don't think that he was specifically from here. Just lived here, or even could have been visiting family from here. He wasn't a 'star', from what I remember. Just a guy on the team.

Jimmie Ward was out. Al-Shaiir was on IR at the time but is now back. Moseley also out but he’s still on IR.

The Raiders game is a better game to look at it since it was at the end of the regular season, although that seems to be an outlier game and not the norm. We’ve had them too against the Colts/Commanders.

The raiders game gave you the blueprint of what you need to do against the niners. They continuously kept taking shots down the field with Adams who they just couldn’t cover. They also had a couple of shots with Waller as well. It’s why the graphic i posted yesterday looks the way it does. They had no answer for that. Heck even the Seahawks first half of their playoff game took advantage of it.

Once they were able to connect with some shots down the field to adams and Waller, they mixed in jacobs and bolden (i believe jacobs left for a couple snaps due to an injury) who weren’t great but rushed 101 yards on 25 carries. Stidham’s legs also helped he rushed 7 for 34.

What turned out to be the difference in the game was the two interceptions by Stidham and the Raiders defense just could not do anything in that game besides the one interception they got. Cmc and aiyuk just obliterated that defense.

I’m surprised our ST ranked that high.

They’ve been much better the second half of the year. Bo wulf actually had a really good article on the athletic the other day.

How bad were we in the first half of the season? Another reason Gannon should be fired. This team is set up to be both good against the run and the pass.

The coverage units were WAY better 2nd half of the year and once Scott went back as KR that game improved drastically and even seemed to help Covey as PR.

It seems like after that one game where they gave up 3 kickoff returns for 40 and 50+ they have been a lot better. Wonder if Clay got a talkin to.

That article was special teams. Not run defense. Bo and Berman actually talked about that too in a podcast. After suh and Joseph signed they were much better. Not great but better.

In the vacuum of a Saturday morning with no NFL Games today, I'm cruising the various talking heads shows.

No consensus on 9ers v Eagles, as expected. Half the heads have us, half them. Collusion?

Producers have already set the stage for how the matchup is to be approached. Ratings.

Would love to sit in on a Production Meeting sometime.

"Okay , who wants Eagles?...,the rest of you have to take 9ers....keep it divisive..."

Meh.  The two best teams in the NFC. Both strong. Both good.

Of course I always appreciate some analysis.

We leave ESPN on all day in my office and I thought this week they had different spots that "took a position" and backed it up.  And it definitely favored us.  Dline spot.  D backfield.  O line. Hurts love.  AJ love.  Call it 65-35 IMO.  At worst 60-40?

There are some facts that are hard to get around and away from on both sides.

What I didn't see too much of (and yes at some point I have to work even though it is on) is some X 0 how is O going to beat X when they do Y and so on talk.  A little bit but not the stuff we see on here.

Sweep the leg!

We can absolutely lose tomorrow if the 49ers' run of good luck continues. We'll have our opportunities to KO them early if we take advantage.

Yes and yes of course.

Those ducks deep look especially delicious. WE WILL snag one of those.  You can't float against our d backs.

@eagle45 had my MRI last night. It was painful just laying there, but aside from that and the noise of the machine, I coulda fallen asleep pretty easily in there. It is a bit "coffin like” tho, I could see how people would freak out

Young me- no issues. Hell I even went crawling through caves with room for only double the size of a person laying down.  Crazy stuff in upstate PA.

Old me-last MRI 5 years ago was HARD.  Did not like that at all.  Next one if it ever comes to pass, I will be on drugs.  I am starting now just to be ready.

So Gannon should be fired because the Eagles special teams stunk early in the year?

Yeah, that’s a completely logical take.

Dude is some big ass Samoan pushing 300. My 130 pound butt boarded quietly and turned left to first.

Uh, please disregard about sweeping the leg.  NEVER fight a Samoan.  Never ever.  Like taylorswift.com never ever.

Cheapest tickets are now $150 more than I got them for. Plus the higher fees associated with that.

I somehow hit it at the prefect timing.
