Spoiler

I remember that store differently. Did they change it? I thought there were clickers in it on the first floor? Maybe I'm just misremembering

Loved the how they showed him creating the town lol

Ok I wasn't expecting all that. I'm sure the people that didn't know he was gay are going to have a fit about that

The jogging scene was funny

Would have liked to see them coming into the town like we did in the game. That was pretty fun trying to avoid the trip wires

I thought there was a gunfight while they were at Bills? Am I misremembering that as well?

I didn't not like the changes but they shouldn't have removed some things

Can we appreciate how absolutely insane it is that they have introduced, made us care about, then killed off 4 characters in the first 3 Fing episodes?

Holy crap that was good. I'm all in.

Lol someone filled me in on what I forgot. There are changes that I didn't like and changes I was fine with.

Spoiler

Backstory was perfectly fine. Being already dead wasn't a good change. Also casually walking in and out of the town wasn't a good change either

Spoiler

I was really annoyed that they killed off Bill in the same episode in which they introduced him. Not cool.

I watched last night but was way too amped from the game, so it felt boring because I didn't give it my all attention. I need to rewatch.

Never played the game, but I knew immediately where it was headed when he left him in the house.  Wasn’t all that hard to decipher

Safe to say I will never be able to watch Parks and Rec and view Ron Swanson the same way ever again.

no worries, that first season was so trash that anything beyond that should never have been filmed anyways.

On rewatch, that was a damn good episode. Slower on the action side but the story was very Last of Us.

Show writers are very good at developing the characters. It's the best thing on TV right now.

What's odd is that in the game, this was sort of a throw-away storyline between Bill and Frank. It ended very, very differently compared to how they wrote it up for the show, but the relationship between them was maybe 5 min worth of dialogue and exposition, and yet they somehow turned that into a full length episode while keeping it compelling enough without feeling like a filler episode. Didn't do much to advance the main plot but still managed to be a very solid episode in its own right. Good stuff.

I don't think I need to spoiler tag this, but in the game there are clues that Bill and Frank were involved (I think Bill strategically uses the word partners), but it's clear that Joel had never known/met Frank before. Bill being ghey is also referenced by Ellie finding some nekkid d00de pr0n mags at Bill's house.

The biggest difference is that you can find a note in a house (that you can give to Bill -- and re-pick it up after he stealthily discards it) that is a letter from Frank to Bill telling Bill that he hates him and is is basically glad to be free from seeing him ever again. So the love story is a big 180 (IMO bigger deviation than Bill living vs dying), but they still kept elements like finding a farewell letter written by the deceased.

Yea that's what I was referring to when I said 5 min of dialogue and exposition. Also I think the porno mag was found in the truck no? Or am I thinking of the comic books?

I'd say the biggest difference is what happens to Bill

But yeah, they went in a much different direction there which probably plays better for TV, but changes the tone of Bill's character quite a bit obviously.

A lot of gamers aren't happy about that change. I liked the backstory but I think they could have added how Joel and Ellie had to sneak in instead of casually just walking in

Also the banter between Bill and Ellie was funny

So there were things I liked and didn't like about episode 3

I played both games for the first time like 3 months ago, so any change is welcome by me

You didn't like them?

No, I did. Thought it was great. I started a 2nd run through also but it's been awhile. I just like seeing a fresh spin on it since I just played through the story.

Gotcha. Yeah so far they haven't really deviated all that much. The Bill subplot doesn't really change much in the grand scheme of things. Curious to see if they'll extrapolate or deviate on Sam or Ishmail subplots in a similar manner though.

One of things I'm curious about is if they introduce Stalkers. They weren't in much of the first game but were creepy as hell in the 2nd. I think more of them would be great for TV, but on the same hand I'm not sure if they will even go that far in depth and have them at all.

This show is off to a great start.  I see the emotional touch of Darabont TWD and some storytelling style of what WWZ was supposed to be like.
