I wouldn’t be surprised if the eagles call about  acquiring budda baker. He’s a leader and he’s a damn good player. Rumors out in Arizona are he and Hopkins are likely to be moved today or tomorrow. I’m not sure what the value is the cardinals are looking for. Hopkins due to age, contract and recent injury history i don’t see them getting the return his name would get them. Baker is younger and in the start of his prime. But he also wants to be paid as top safety so it’s gonna decrease the compensation they get.

That said, I don’t think they ultimately get him as too much in terms of picks and paying him but if they did, I think that is a massive get by the Eagles. he’s better than Chauncey Gardner Johnson so the secondary at least start if the season with everyone healthy would actually be better

Baker has always struck me as a really good box safety, not a ballhawking center fielder that we need. I'll admit I've only seen him play a handful of times. Am I wrong?

Not to defend Jalen Carter per se, but how someone sounds answering a question doesn't always convey their full range of feelings, nor does it mean that even a perfect answer would be sincere anyway.

Also most 21yr old kids, especially athletes, aren't always the most articulate people around at a young age.    It can be quite different getting an answer to the same question from a 21yr old versus say a 41yr old.

Plus I'm sure Rosenhaus is telling him to say the bare minimum when it comes to any legal issues.

This is an entirely fair take IMO

Hi.  😊

Quick question, and something you mentioned earlier, why the many calls (pre-draft) for the type of RB that is mostly redundant to Gainwell?    For example, I get the desire (pre-draft) to mock Jahmyr Gibbs to the Eagles, great player, but that always seemed sort of like a poor use of resources to me?    It would be one thing if the Eagles didn't have any RB on the roster to provide what Gibbs provides, but with Gainwell on the roster it seemed like a bad use of resources to project a Top 35 pick on a RB that just basically sends Gainwell to the bench.

If the Eagles go RB at all in the next couple of picks I'd rather see a RB capable of being the potential bell cow (Sanders or Penny type) or a larger more physical RB when they want to pound the ball.

Having said that, I think OL and S would be my preference with the next couple of picks (assuming the value of the player matches the pick slot).  But as long as it really is the highest rated player on their board, the positions don't matter much to me, they could add at almost any position and easily find an open roster spot for that player, except QB and maybe now DL.

Great to see you Rhino!  @TEW is the best person to answer you Gibbs question.

Didn’t watch the draft live for many reasons, but I’ve seen the picks the eagles made and I hear good things from the manor about who we picked. If the eagles had won the superbowl it would’ve been a perfect twelve months.

I saw someone say with the drafts from last night coupled with what is already there, that the eagles defence is gong to feast for 17 games next season which I like to hear.

Not sure if they're going to feast.  Hopefully.

Alot of hope is being brought upon these 4 Georgia players who collectively haven't played much in the NFL.

If they can replicate what they did at Georgia then the Eagles should have a young and dominant defense.

They still need to address Safety and get younger at CB.

It's the night of the draft. That fat disgusting slob Roob couldn't let the kid enjoy it for 15 minutes before he starts asking slanted questions. Roob wanted Bijan and had been pounding the table for him for weeks and he came off like a loser.

You guys might be right, and Im a little biased because I really came down hard on Carter for that whole incident.

So Im definitely scrutinizing him closely and I wasn't over the moon with what I heard.  But you're right that he deserves a bit of a break because it was a big night for him.

I think he was trying to get the team to explain why they felt he was remorseful and accountable.  Maybe he could have phrased it differently.

I wouldn't expect the guy to share details pertaining to the investigation but something along the lines of "I need to make sure Im in the right situation and surround myself with the right people and make better decisions in the future" .... something like that.

Physically, he clearly didnt prepare for this process.  Doesnt sound like he did mentally either.

Sometimes in life bad things happen and bad decisions are made that can be a wake up call.  Judging by his emotional reaction to being drafted, I think that this is one of these cases.  He can either learn from this and be better as a person and a player or he can go the other way.

I hope that he realizes that he was really close to losing everything he has worked for and the game he loves to play.  Not to mention he could have lost his life doing something stupid.  With the support system in the locker room and from the team, I think they can help him move forward in a positive way with a focus on doing the right thing on and off the field.

And, can the Eagles please line up a personal driver for the dude?!

For me,  tonight is about continuing the theme of physical domination,  but on offense this time.  Zavala and charbonnet.

Mix in a trade down for more mid round picks and that's a perfect night.

Continuing that theme of domination.  Zavala would be great. Torrance would fit that theme as well.  I believe Tippmann would be even better.

Check your Master of Draft submission

You have Jack Campbell who was drafted by Detroit last night.

Competitive advantage man!

Explains a lot when you said he wanted bijan and been pounding the table for weeks. Usually if the eagles don’t draft in what he believes they should then he looks to bury or negative slant the pick. I’m sure he likely had a bunch to stats lined up for a story with bijan and when he went to atlanta he couldn’t use them and was irritated. Frankly he’s one of the more useless reporters covering the team. I can use pro football reference to find stats too. It’s not a unique trait when that’s what you rely on as your shtick

Those tears were definitely tears of gratitude. He has been placed in the best possible locker room for him personally in the entire league. Having Jordan, Dean, and Nolan here, not to mention a veteran DT who has had some personal issues of his own over the years in Fletch...if he can't "make it" here, he won't make it anywhere else.

I think we are far more likely to target a Mauch or Bergeron who can play G or T than a pure G tonight. Certainly could be wrong, but I think we're all unfairly making the assumption that Jurgens is a lock at RG. I'd like someone who can compete with him for RG and be a backup T should Mailata or Lane go down.

D’Andre Swift went to Georgia. Just saying.

I thought the trade up with Chicago was pretty interesting given that they only had to swap and give up a 4th for next year. If Chicago really was set on taking Carter at 9, I feel like they could have had some more leverage with the trade. Or maybe there was another team trying to jump up?

I agree, and given the Draft pick war chest Howie has for next year it was a very low cost give away that the other team saw much more value in than Howie did.  I expect that to be repeated today in combination with 62 and/or 66.

Maybe hit him when his family was so emotional that he got drafted and all what it meant, that made him emotional. I hope it was a moment that he can realize like oh crap, I'm so lucky to be in this position.

We have Gainwell. I don't think Swift brings anything different to the table, other than a lengthy injury history. I think the rest of this draft shows how high or not they are on Sermon. He didn't see the field much with Miles, Kenny G, and Scott in front of him...but he was a 3rd round pick from a good program for RBs two short years ago. If they don't draft anyone, I take it as a sign that Sermon may have a role this year. He's 6' 215, so a bigger guy.

Get your Madden brain kicking, 1-5-5 prowl nickel defense with DE sub package.

Don't forget about a Brandon Graham option.

Certainly, have been thinking about 2-4-5...

In passing situations... Sweat-Milton-Carter-BG, that's a nice 4DL group.

He’s not Ed Reed in coverage but he’s much better than a box safety. He’s stronger against the run but that doesn’t mean he’s not solid to  good against the pass. Part of the issue with the cardinals is their secondary hasn’t been very good for a couple seasons now. Murphy was solid but the rest of the secondary wasn’t good. I think he tried to overcompensate for the fact he had to do more because the Cardinals were playing with less. With the eagles, i think the talent around him would likely elevate him more. Kind of like we saw with CJGJ this past year. I think he is much better of a safety than CJGJ and he’s definitely a bigger leadership type guy in the locker room. Teammates love that dude. He’s not Brian Dawkins in terms of talent but he is that type of emotional leader and guys really respect and look up to him like dawk

Traded 62 and 65 for 40 and 165 from NO:

We don't need a Swift type at RB. We need a Dameon Pierce type.

That's Charbonnet in the draft.

No thanks. Don’t need two injury prone RBs on the roster. Only difference penny tends to have more significant injuries whereas swift are more nagging and misses time and leaves games early

Or Roschon Johnson

Don't think I'd use a 2nd rounder on a RB. Plenty of value in this draft. Achane, Bigsby, Spears, others.
