3rd round would be closer to my thinking.  He has been on the radar screen since just before the Senior Bowl.

Brents is more likely to go RD1 than RD3 IMO. That athleticism gets drafted early.

Where is our team the weakest right now?  Meaning positional group (besides punter)

Safety probably.

The starters have a lot of questions and not much real depth behind em.

Yeah, and the amount of taxes they'd be paying with the social programs in some of those countries and then having to pay US and state taxes where they live back home....

Many US soccer players go over and play, but that's different. Also throw in major jet lag, which will be different because now both teams are going over at the same time. The 9 hour difference between Munich and SF would be insane, especially to then have to fly back home and play on US time the next week. This is nothing but greed and stupidity on the part of the owners. All of them have more money then they can spend in multiple lifetimes even living like Montgomery Brewster.

Would they still have to pay US taxes while living in say Germany?

I mean I can't imagine paying taxes in two countries at the same time.

But yeah there's definitely a lot of headaches that players wouldn't want to deal with like travel.

CBS sports has a 3 round mock out: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2023-nfl-three-round-mock-draft-colts-trade-for-lamar-jackson-ravens-replace-star-with-anthony-richardson/

One of the things they are mocking is that the Ravens will trade Lamar to the Colts for the #4 pick.

First, the Ravens have the nonexclusive franchise tag on him, so he could theoretically negotiate with the Colts without any trade.  The Colts have a ton of cap space -- why could they not just make an offer to Lamar that's big enough so that the Ravens couldn't match it?

Also, as an outside observer, I'm thinking that Lamar may not want to go back to the Ravens unless he gets his guaranteed deal.  Why would I trade the #4 overall pick?  Why not just let this thing play out and wait a year or two until he's actually free?  And who exactly are you bidding against?  It's not like teams are lining up for Lamar's service.

Nolan Smith, Calijah Kancey, Braeden Daniels, and Ji'Ayir Brown is not a bad day 1 and 2. Still on the "pray a QB is still on the board at 10 and get a nice trade down package" train though.

Really tough call. Probably Simmons and 30. I love Anderson, but he's an unknown. Hard to turn down getting one of the two best at DT in the sport in their mid 20's. These are the situations you take advantage of when you have two 1sts.

I think the horizon for Simmons is similar to Cox.  He will probably be in the top 5 DT type discussion until he's 29 or 30.  I think Anderson is fairly low risk given his play and physical talent.  He's been compared to DeMarcus Ware and if that what he ends up being then you are passing on about 8 to 10 years of his production.

My shot at top 11 prediction

Panthers - Stroud
Houston - Young
Arizona trades 3 to Raiders for 7 and other comp.  Raiders pick Richardson
Colts - Levis
Seattle - Will Anderson Jr.
Lions - Carter
Arizona - Tyree Wilson
Tennessee trades 11 and other comp for 8.  8th pick Broderick Jones
Bears - Paris Johnson
Eagles - Myles Murphy
Falcons  -  Bijan

90% of this board is maybe 60 people.  I made a comment about about a very sizeable portion of the Phillies fanbase. If you arent a fairweather Phillies fan then it doesn't apply to you because an individual fan does not represent the overall fanbase and i certainly didnt direct the comment at any given poster here.  Meanwhile you've got major issues every time you're replying to me trying to make childish personal insults.

Friend of mine working in Hong Kong for example still had to file US Taxes because eventually he would be bringing that money home, so I'd imagine players would.

That’s why I think adding multiple teams makes way more sense than adding 1. SF plays a home game, then flies to UK that night and practices in a neutral facility built for visiting teams. Then they stay there for a month, while hitting away games in London, Glasgow, Dublin, Berlin, before coming home.

Would also greatly benefit London, as they could spend half their year on either a homestand or proximity opponents

That's a monster of a headache. Screw that. Expand to Canada if they must but don't be idiots. The World League failed years ago for a reason. This is idiotic and would ruin the game just so billionaires could make a few more billion.

Yeah I can't imagine any NFL player is going to want to sign up for that.

Out of all the cities that have the 4 major sports in them.  Who do you think is not fair weather?

Won't play out this way because I don't see anyway they use that 30th pick but go Carter or Nolan Smith at 10 and then grab Gibbs at 30.  Then we pretty much have a Goergis young defensive core to build around to go along with our young Alabama offensive core.

Only 12 cities with 4 major sports teams and I do think most fanbases overall are fairweather.  But if we look at those 12 cities the ones that come to mind where their teams seem to always have consistent attendance despite how the teams are doing is probably NY, LA (just aren't a lot of football fans there but the other sports consistently fill up despite how the teams are doing), San Francisco, Boston and probably Dallas too if we are being honest.

But it's tough to judge because I don't live in the sports economy system of those cities so I can't say definitively.  I can only really speak to Philadelphia sports and the individual team fanbases.  Of Philly, the Eagles will always sell out despite how the team is doing.  Flyers used to be that way but they have done everything they can to kill off their fanbase.  Sixers fanbase dwindled away in the post-AI years as they didn't have any star talent and its a start talent driven league.  Then they openly tanked for years and while attendance was down it did create a passionate sect of process fans and ultimately led to them getting Embiid and now having that star talent and have consistently been one of the top attendance teams in the league for a half decade now despite no real post season success.  Phillies have only been top attendance active fanbase when they were in their WS runs.  The team just doesn't have the staying power with fans in this city when they aren't making consistent deep playoff runs.  And consistent deep playoff runs can make any fanbase look great and in it (with the exception of the Miami Heat).  Look no further than the Bucs during the Brady years.

DC made some comments alluding to them being out on Carter. Also cant see one of Gonzo/Witherspoon not getting picked top 12. Otherwise I agree.

He made a cryptic remark about a teammate of his saying something interesting about Carter.. Don't think that means they're out on him

I'd argue the depth now is fine but the starters are the ?  LB is a huge question mark.  Dean never started and Morrow wasn't rated well by many anyway. The depth is non-existent really

It’s relative. Jumping from 14 to 16 games was to be the end of the NFL, then Free agency was supposed to ruin the league, then a salary cap was going to ruin the league, then watering it down with 4 straight expansion teams in small markets, then moving to 17 games was going to be the straw that broke the camels back.

10 years from now, contemporary fans will consider it the best era of football and be chastising any new adjustment they consider making, and then the cycle will continue

Yes, they would still have to file US taxes.  All Americans do no matter where they reside.

Filing does not equal paying though.  It all depends on the reciprocal agreements between countries plus the local tax levels.  The first $100k (roughly) made in a foreign country is not taxable in the US to start.  From there, any western European country will have an agreement with the US that means the player wouldn't be double taxed.  The real issue is going to be if the local country has higher tax rates than the US which will be the case for many countries in Europe.  Of course, that will factor into the contract negotiations.

I have some advice for you.  You may have noticed that your posts often become contentious on a personalized level. You should consider that your style of discussion might have something to do with this. In any mediated contentious discussion, a mediator will often set a ground rule that you cannot talk about the other person or present their opinion, especially in absolute terms. You may not be aware but you break this rule the majority of the time. My advice is to try and change your style. Like, instead of "Phillies fans are fair weather fans." That is an absolutist statement, black and white thinking, that states that you know how others, many on this board, think. You might try something like, "what I have observed is that of all the Philly teams, the Phillies appear to have the most fair weather fans. It's my opinion, how do you all see this?"

A style change might get you into many more productive conversations and out of so many contentiously personalized ones, in my $0.02 humble opinion.

It's really difficult to change a person's writing style while their personality remains the same.

Just realized tomorrow is April 1.

Prepare yourselves for fake trades, contracts, fake draft rumors etc.  Pretty sure we'll also see some sort of tweet of the Eagles going back to the Kevin Curtis blue/yellow uniforms rather than KG.
