No culture war BS from me.  What I said was verifiable conservationist positions and why culling populations is important to maintaining HEALTHY and SAFE populations of wildlife.  Its not cultural, its scientific.  But you are welcome to ignore that.

Eh not necessarily true

Kyrie Irving hasn't broken any laws I know of.

Yea, there's been a ton of smoke on this all day saying that the trade has been completed but I haven't read anything credible yet.

We'll never know the full story. Clearly, there were some issues with Wentz, post injury. No one needs to support him, but he's downright hated on and lives rent free in so many peoples heads. Just go through the comments on any tweet a Philly beat brings up about him and it's just the most hateful stuff being said. I just don't get it.

I’ll give you my thoughts.  They aren’t on Twitter, but they may help you get it.

(1) He feels it is important (dare I say essential) to put his own personal interests ahead of anyone else’s.

(2) He desperately wants to be a hero in everything he does.

(3) He desperately wants to be adored/idolized.  If he killed the bear for meat, take it to the butcher shop.  Get it packaged in freezer paper and put those packages in his freezer at home.  If he must have a picture taken, have it with the butcher, who can say "no” if he doesn’t want his picture taken.  The bear doesn’t have the option of saying "no.”

(4) He doesn’t understand that football is a team sport.

(5) He essentially wishes that iPhiladelphia is still stuck on zero Lombardis.

(6) He lied about his COVID vaccine status.  Ooops, that was Rodgers, not Wentz.

I agree with your argument.  But most people who are hunting for the purpose of beneficial culling don’t have their picture taken with the dead animal(s) they have culled.

Jalen Hurts would never😆 Get off it dude.

@greend would. I have had bear roast. Will admit a bit of me (who has eaten possum, raccoon, squirrel, armadillo etc.) was a bit hesitant because a bear is a canine (dog family), but it was actually pretty good.  My great grandfather on my mom’s mom side grew up at the Kansas/Indian Territory border. (As a young adult he participated in the Cimarron Strip land rush. He saw most of those cattle drives that were in westerns.). He talked about going over the river to trade with the Indians (his father, a civil war vet, was a miller.) He said they invited his father and him to share a meal.  He wanted to but his father was insistent on declining.  He said it smelled good.  Once back over the River, his father told him that the meal was dog.  That kind of was in my mind as I took my first bite of bear. A little voice reminded me I had eaten tree rat (squirrels are a rodent) stew so this wasn’t any worse. But I am a firm believer of "you shoot it, you eat it”.  If more practiced that in the US, we’d have a hell of a lot less gun deaths.

The Flyers are going to continue making trades tomorrow and it's beautiful to see.

NFL QB bust ripped for hunting and killing ‘incredible animal’

Eagles bust Carson Wentz once had a rifle arm. Now he just has a rifle.

But give him this: They guy is undefeated against bears. He is 4-0 in his career against the Chicago Bears and now has added another skin. Wentz posted a photo of a bear he shot on a recent hunting trip.

(2) He desperately wants to be a hero in everything he does. Agree for the most part here.  He plays hero ball way too much.

(4) He doesn’t understand that football is a team sport. I'm sure he does.  I don't think he was a perfect teammate but he had a lot of close friends on the team too. Wentz and Trey Burton were two players who spearheaded a Christian brotherhood on that team.  Helped a lot of guys and even saw teammates get baptized.  That speaks a lot in my book.  I'm sure it wasn't easy being on a team with an outspoken leader like Malcolm Jenkins who I'm guessing he disagreed with on many things.

(5) He essentially wishes that iPhiladelphia is still stuck on zero Lombardis. Where do you get this from?

Those are a lot of assumptions.

What are you doing during the lull.  In the last two weeks, I have enjoyed the National Ranching Heritage Center, Fort Sumner and Billy the Kid’s grave, the corner of Route 66 and Rote 66, the oldest church in the US, Governor’s Palace, Bandelier, the history of the Atom Bomb, Pagosa Springs, the Million Dollar highway, Mesa Verde, Arches, Dead Horse, Canyonlands, the Uranium King’s house, a lake where you cannot hope to float, the world’s cleanest smelter, two passes over 11k, John Wayne’s favorite spot in Monument Valley touched dinosaur bones and drunk wines from IN, AR, TX, NM, AZ, UT and CO.  And points in between. There is snow on the mountaintops

It’s hot in the Hill Country. Hope you are at the least cooling down by

People hunt for many reasons. I didn't see Wentz state his. But taking pictures of animals (Bear, deer, fish, turkeys, etc... ) is extremely normal --- especially when one is contractually obligated due to a partnership with, say ... a certain gun manufacturer.

(1) I have never heard or read a quote from him that supports this perception.

(2) More conjecture. Of course he wants to make a big play when his team is counting on him. Did he wear a cape to his wedding? Did he deliver his wife's baby? Did he arrest some bad guys? Did he rush into a burning building to look for someone to rescue? I understand he was strongly influenced by Brett Favre's QB style and that's sort of what he worked to become as a player. He hasn't had a Favre-like career, though. Maybe he was born too late (in an era where teams aren't looking for risk-taking passers).

(3) He has business ties in various outdoors sports products. He and his brother have their own show (https://www.winchesterguns.com/news/prostaff/wentz-brothers-outdoors.html) --- which is why they provide pics.

(4) Again ... I don't get this. He virtually always talks in terms of the team. He works out with teammates outside of OTAs. He doesn't lash out at teammates and make everything about himself. I feel you've just bought into the character assassination hearsay.

(5) What? You can't make this stuff up ... or can you?

I don't think anybody handled the QB situation properly at the time of "reckoning" --- not Wentz, not Doug, not the Eagles' FO --- nobody. It was a collective cluster-issue. A couple years later, it worked out for the Eagles because of Jalen Hurts and a coach willing to design around players' strengths. I'm happy where the Eagles are at the moment. I don't have any desire to entertain "what ifs" about Wentz. He's gone. Likewise, I don't need clickbait articles, rumors,  hearsay, and conjecture to formulate a reason to be glad he's not here. I'm 100% behind Jalen as our franchise QB. Jalen's leadership and work ethic has this team performing at an elite level. His leadership is, IMO, the best I've ever seen from an Eagles QB in my time as a football fan. But as a reasonable person, I just don't understand what exactly it is that drives people to seemingly hate Wentz and believe nonsense. If you hate his QB play, I totally understand. If a person says, "he didn't get the job done," or "he left much to be desired," or whatever as a player, I totally understand. I can't figure out what it is that makes people cast him as a terrible person, though. As a guy much older than Wentz, I do think he still has some maturing to do as a person, but other than that, he seems pretty genuine in character.

(1) He feels it is important (dare I say essential) to put his own personal interests ahead of anyone else’s. What personal interests? As RTC said earlier, he was never happy with the success that Nick Foles led the team to.  You could see that on the sideline and in the parade. Then as a Colt he chose to be unvaccinated putting his self interests ahead of the team’s clearly stated desire that all players get vaccinated. Hhe told reporters that he is still not vaccinated, saying, "For me, nothing has changed. We talked about it a lot early in the year and nothing has really changed for me on that front.” He subsequently tested positive for COVID, missed a week of practice, and played horrendously in his first game back due to all the missed practice time.

(2) He desperately wants to be a hero in everything he does. Agree for the most part here.  He plays hero ball way too much.

In a word … yes.

It speaks nothing in mine.  Religion should be a quiet private one-to-one personal relationship with whatever supreme spirit you believe in.  Imposing your beliefs on others is intrusive. sure it wasn't easy being on a team with an outspoken leader like Malcolm Jenkins who I'm guessing he disagreed with on many things.

(5) He essentially wishes that iPhiladelphia is still stuck on zero Lombardis. Where do you get this from? At the risk of repeating myself, as RTC said earlier, he was never happy with the success that Nick Foles led the team to.  You could see that on the sideline and in the parade.  Instead of focusing on the players who were the ones who brought the Lombardi win home, he focused on himself.

(6) He lied about his COVID vaccine status.  Ooops, that was Rodgers, not Wentz.  OK? He didn’t lie, but he didn’t get vaccinated, and as a result the team suffered.

Maybe he was born too late (in an era where teams aren't looking for risk-taking passers). The clearest indictment in this is his total failure to accept coaching, and as a result his total inability to remedy his bad habits.  Look at his fumbling history.

(3) He has business ties in various outdoors sports products. He and his brother have their own show (https://www.winchesterguns.com/news/prostaff/wentz-brothers-outdoors.html) --- which is why they provide pics. That is a reason, but a very sad reason indeed.

(4) Again ... I don't get this. He virtually always talks in terms of the team. He works out with teammates outside of OTAs. He doesn't lash out at teammates and make everything about himself. I feel you've just bought into the character assassination hearsay. He talks the talk but he doesn’t walk the walk.  If he truly cared about the team he would have gotten vaccinated as a Colt, and he would have behaved differently at the Super Bowl parade.

(5) What? You can't make this stuff up ... or can you?  See my Comment above.  He was never comfortable handing over the reins to Foles.

This is one of the most ignorant arguments I’ve ever heard. Culling may be necessary I. Elephant populations but North American predators?  No chance. Lethal action is not conservation. Bears require no population control. Nor do wolves, which have been decimated by hunting yet again. If you want to say it’s a free country and hunting is legal so be it that’s your right. But don’t come in here and lie about phony benefits.

Very thankful to have Hurts as my QB instead of Wentz

The Carson Wentz situation, as much as it sucked to see him go from MVP status to a shell of his former self couldn't have ended any better for the Eagles. Hurts is proving to be the guy. At the end of the day, the Eagles essentially traded Wentz for Devonta Smith, Jalen Carter and a 2024 2nd. Carter hasn't played a down in the NFL yet but even just getting Smith and a 2024 2nd is a win for the Eagles. If Carter is what everyone thinks he can be, it's an absolute walk off, grand slam trade.

Carson Wentz helped the Eagles get their 1st Super Bowl and trading him puts them in a fantastic position to get their 2nd.

That whole vaccination thing turned out to be useless (at preventing spread) which is what a vaccination is supposed to do. I can't believe people are still going on about that as a topic.  Being hesitant to be a guinea pig for a drug that people felt obligated to force on others because "it just had to be the right thing to do" (right?) is not a bad quality. Does it fall under the definition of "selfish?" I suppose, since it is a personal decision. Is a player a selfish, bad teammate for not going out with other teammates to drink at nightclubs or visiting strip clubs because of a personal moral objection to those things?

How was he supposed to behave at the parade to satisfy you? The dude felt like he had nothing to do with the most important game. Did it show? If we want to read into things, sure.

Look at this terrible behavior:

PJVCGDUUSBOOZEXO7VVXHZVXG4.png
