For the life of me I don't understand why Blankenship hasn't played a snap and most likely won't heading in to the NE game. Goodness, this is an UDFA who started what 4 games last year?

He has.  Three joint practices > vanilla PS defense.  Eagles almost treat PS games like a mix of 11 on 11 and 1x1s.

The deal with Punter is that he also is a critical part of the kick game as a holder.  He would have to be a big punting upgrade to outweigh the uncertainty that you introduce as a holder.

Call me crazy but I like our Saftey situation. Blankenship is playing well, Edmunds should be steady, Brown is our young talent, Wallace has improved.  Sure a top end sure fire starter would be nice but they usually don't shake free this time of year.

I don’t disagree with your Safety assessment … and would throw Evans into the mix.

Yeah, I don't get someone more worried about S than LB

I’m not actually worried about either LB or Safety at this point.

Back in Baja?

Giants are going to cut a good S.

Well, I'm bored. So here's how it looks to me going into tonight. Some thoughts:

1. I kept only 5 WRs as it seems Ngata has fallen off lately. I wouldn't be SHOCKED if they dropped Covey for Ward, depending on health. Right now, we are rolling with 3 slot WRs basically and no backups on the outside. Maybe that gets Ngata on the roster.

2. I put Opeta on the 53, but he could go to keep Ngata since I think both of them would make the PS. Kept Opeta since, as @LeanMeanGM pointed out, Dickerson tends to miss a bunch of snaps and Steen has no LG experience.

3. I'm keeping Ojomo and Ricks on the 53 because I don't think they clear waivers to get to the PS.

4. I think Goodrich or Scott make the PS as a backup nickel. Bradberry can slide there in a pinch as well.

5. I cut K'Von. Seems like Evans has passed him

6. Work needs to get less boring

That's pretty funny.  Trey Lance can go hang out with his fellow NDSU alumn, Carson Wentz.  Maybe they can work out together in preparations for their future XFL careers.

Is Taylor an Eagles yet?

Fire sale. Send them the picks that fans want to use to acquire Taylor to get Budda instead.

Edit: nvm forgot he reworked his deal

A factoid that may only interest me.  But, breaking news, Stephen Strasburg is going to announce his retirement in September.

Per the WaPo story, he's still got pretty bad nerve damage.  He has problems opening doors, picking up his kids, or basically doing anything with his right hand.  He gave up his body for baseball.

Trading the farm for nothing but keeping Baker who could net them a decent return. Smart.

Please remember, he's a top flight coach. The talking heads have told us so...

Hey bud, I'm in New Mexico for a couple more weeks.  My wife has an archery elk hunt starting Sept 1 so I am trying to get her dialed in 😅.  All good with the storm down in Baja

He's overrated. Defense probably takes a nose dive since Ryans left

@EagleJoe8 could you add in the GDT a mention of it being on Amazon Prime Video tonight as well? Thanks.

Done.

And King Tut gave up his life for tourism.

How's he supposed to win without a QB????

I don't know -- maybe don't try and block one of the best pass rushers in the league with a 2nd string TE coming across the formation?

Yup makes no sense. he’s not thrilled to be there with no chance at winning in the prime of his career for at least the next 2 years. He took more money but he wasn’t going to turn down more money. Still not happy. I’ve been told by my friend who covers the team there’s a feeling they know they are going to be really bad and bad enough to draft Williams (and have Texans pick) then can deal murray and have a even more draft picks to build their roster

Scott was behind McPhearson and Goodrich on the depth chart. They will sign a corner off the street before he makes the final roster.

Not sure how DE depth is even an issue with Graham, Smith and Barnett as the backups behind Sweat and Reddick? Are you worried Patrick Johnson is a bad sixth guy?

As far as UDFA's, Ricks has a pick six and multiple pass break ups and Garner has a forced fumble on special teams. Those are the guys.

About DE and overall DL depth.

Counting snaps from last year  DT - 2  DE - 1  OLB - 1
The Eagles basically play a 4-2-5.

DE
Sweat - 53
Graham - 45
Suh - 15 (gone)
(returning 2023 - Barnett)

OLB
Reddick - 73
Patrick Johnson - 19
(new 2023 - Nolan Smith)

DT
Cox - 64
Hargrave - 64 (gone)
Williams - 35
Tuipulotu - 20
Davis - 20
L Joseph - 17 (gone)
(new 2023 - Jalen Carter)
