IIRC, all those short throws to the left were to Cunningham's side of the field.  Game planning, folks.

The decision to keep Evans over Wallace is not looking great right now.

Also, TJ Edwards continues to be a tackling machine. Really dumb to let him walk.

Didn't the Bears take an L yesterday?

And our run defense was actually better than last year.  It's the coverage from the LBs/S that's the problem

Yup... some of the coverage issues looked like missed assignments yesterday as well. Something I think they would clean up as the season progresses.

Did he play well or just rack up a bunch of tackles?  Cause Alex Singleton was a "tackling machine" too.

Some of that is scheme. I didn't see much from Desai that looked different from Gannon, a defense that can cause fits for bad QBs but get chewed up by good QBs.

Mac Jones is a pretty good, if limited QB, he's not Dan Jones.

Obviously they would have won with Zach Cunningham.

Yeah a bit.  Let's face it most of these issues will resolve with time BUT the fact that Justin Evans and Zach Cunningham were starting was a bad sign in general.  They didn't earn spots so much as everyone else was worse

I was hopeful that cutting weight would help him in coverage but alas…

You can’t pay everyone and we spent a 3 on his natural replacement.

Yet another player better than any linebacker we have.

He gets out of position much faster now.

Not always going to have every position stacked. I think the LB play will be fine. The rook will take Evans spot soon I'm sure.

Andrew Berry or Schwartz’s agent getting after it this morning.

I don't know how wise it was not to match the contract a certain S got with Detroit. He'd look good back there right now.

Could always be worse...

Any word on Bradberry yet?  I suspected a concussion watching it live.  I'd imagine he's for sure out Thursday of that's the case.  Wonder if Desai will have Slay shadow Jefferson then like he did last year.  I don't feel good about that Thursday match-up given how the pass defense still sucks.

It was over for him here the second we signed Bradberry.

Wallace never showed much when he was here, but agreed on Edwards. It was always going to be a huge risk to let him, White, CJGJ, and Epps walk in the same offseason. That coupled with the loss of Hargrave, and the middle of our defense was completely gutted. Of course we have some young players waiting in the wings to step up and replace some of that lost talent, but sure would've been nice to have kept at least one or two of those guys to help soften the blow.

Eagles had a few games last year that were a bit like this one.  Cards, Bears, Colts come to mind.  Sometimes a W is simply a W even if it isn't pretty.

Texans game was kinda ugly too.

I think he wanted out. And I am not worried about safety because Blankenship is really good and Sydney Brown has a lot of potential (which we will hopefully start to see this week.)

Not an odd take at all... leading up to the draft, he was the TE I wanted.  Calcaterra wasn't even on my radar, because of the concussion history.   Obviously, it didn't work out that way, but going into draft weekend, if TE was targeted, I was hoping for Ferguson.  Pretty simple.

Yes, but your comment read like you thought it was somehow a mistake on the Eagles part.

Yup TJ Edwards got abused in coverage by Aaron Jones on a long TD,

TJ is what he is solid against the run, ok in zone really bad in man.

I think Brown needs to at LEAST get snaps at LBer on deep passing downs. He can cover a draw/run, and has more athleticism than Elliss and Cunningham. I’m really disappointed by the lack of creativity with our personnel yesterday, especially leaving 2 Lbs in on passing downs, and not putting hands on receivers. On the other side Hurts isn’t comfortable yet in the offense and it shows, would’ve loved to see more HBs getting more touches, more slip screens, and getting some downhill running for the OL to control the game.

Game Score Prediction winners

@Alphagrand with Eagles 25 Patriots 19 was the winner after a tiebreaker.

Four others predicted Eagles 24 Patriots 20 but the tiebreaker is closest to the Eagles score)
The 24-20 predictors were
@Casey @ Bat
@NCTANK
@Waiting4Someday
@Westbrook#36

The tiebreaker "hits" were as follows

@Han Solo had "Defense gets a Pick 6" as his tiebreaker
@Iggles_Phan had "Siposs stuns with his punting performance!"
@DEagle7 had "Jalen Carter gets a sack"
@Westbrook#36 had "Hurts loses a fumble."

There were a total of 66 predictions with an average score of Eagles 29 Patriots 18.  Those 66 were:

I got my prediction correct.  Jordan Davis forced a fumble that Eagles recovered on the Patriots second drive.
