Collinsworth is fine when he is impartial. He needs to learn to leave his preferences outside the broadcast booth.

We are all partial.  Why isn't he allowed to be partial?

He is allowed to be partial -- off the air.

Holy cow is the audio bad on the BGN live show podcast.

Collinsworth is horrible.  He just like 90% of the others can never shut up and they make the broadcast a talk show.  Hes one of the wosrt there is and hes not even good at analysis.

Go down early.

If they handle business this week and Thursday, the field will be chasing them again!

I get the announcers have to call the game in real time, but the game has clearly passed him by.  He's about as clueless as to what's happening on the field as can possibly be.

Their audio is always bad but yeah it's horrible. I don't know why they bothered recording that episode.

Because as the color analyst for the national broadcast, that's his job... to be impartial.

But, the issue isn't the partiality piece.  He tries to force narratives that aren't always there in the actual game.   He loved to talk about the size of the Eagles' WRs and the jump balls and being like a group of power forwards... and you just throw the ball up to them and let them get it like a rebound.  Except that was NOT how the Eagles offense actually functioned.  He would start the broadcast with this idea and push it the whole game.  It was a false narrative and he talked about it constantly.

What a color analyst really needs to do is to talk to both fan bases, as well as the generic group about what they are seeing on the field.  They can talk about the players they like and what they like about them, but there needs to be guys on both sides getting that adulation.  He can't get overly excited when one team makes a big play.  Or focus primarily on one what side is doing right, or doing wrong all the time.  Usually when one side does something wrong, its because the other side did something right.  Talk about that.  Or talk about how both teams take advantage of mistakes.   It's not an easy job to do, but I believe there are better people to do it than running out the same old tired people.  Al Michaels' time has passed.  They need someone new in there.  He should be retired.  And if he's not willing to do it himself, the networks should do it for him.

Week 4 is chiefs Jets

In a weird quirk, Aaron Rodgers has never played Pat Mahomes. Mahomes missed the 2019 game with injury (one of only 2 missed games that year), and Rodgers missed the 2021 game (his only missed start in the MVP season)

Never thought I’d see someone be knocked out/sedated for 11 hours unless it was for medical purposes but here we are

Dak has a signature TD celebration?

Seems pretty stupid for any person to voluntarily be put under when it isn't medically necessary.  Even if the risk of not coming to is minute -- there is a risk, and it seems like 11 hours would increase that risk.  Not to mention it's a tattoo artist doing it???

B.S.  There isn't one play in the Rams playbook where Kupp isn't part of the progression.  The guy got 224 targets during that 2021 season and playoffs.

Chargers just don't have good enough coaching to win the division.

Herbert was beat up with broken ribs the first half of season last year and still went 10-7. Can see Chiefs losing another 6 games. Based on a slow start here and could go 1-4 in first 5 games.

I think kupp was clearly in Stafford’s progression. the better part of the video is on Goff not even getting to that progression with his best WR who was wide open down the middle of the field for a potential touchdown. Instead, he wanted to do what he’s comfortable with and missed out. A better Qb like Stafford goes through his progressions and gives his best offensive weapon a chance to make a game changing type play. Goff didn’t. Frankly the lions should target st. Brown like the rams did with kupp that year. The rest of their wide receivers til Williams comes back aren’t anything to write home about

Don't know if anyone looks at CBS Sports, but their 'bold predictions' have gotten crazier and crazier as the season nears.  This is the lastest --

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/five-bold-predictions-for-2023-nfl-season-jaguars-trevor-lawrence-wins-mvp-saints-earn-no-1-seed-in-nfc/

TL:DR;

1) Derek Carr is such a huge upgrade at QB that the Saints will have the best record in the NFC.

2) Packers win NFC North.  Because every other NFC North team has question marks.

3) Dalton Kincaid (TE, Buf) wins OROY because he was targeted a lot in the preseason.

4) AJ Brown leads the league in receiving yards.

5) Trevor Lawrence wins MVP

Seriously wish this writer guy would put some wager on his 'bold predictions'.  Something like he has to shave his eyebrows off if all are wrong.

I don’t think Lawrence wins the mvp but if he plays like he did the last 9 games of the year he has a schedule that’s set up for him to have a big year. Plays in the afc south. So that is 6 helpful games. He plays the nfc south. The 5 toughest games (heading into the season) are at home or neutral site (vs. Kansas City, vs. niners, vs. bengals, vs. ravens and neutral site bills). Plus with Doug for his second season and not having urban helps.

Saints could have best record because of a crap schedule or close to one

I got Packers winning the North.

Kincaid could be targeted a lot and believe he was in on 71% of all routes when Allen played. He will play a ton of slot and who do they have besides Diggs?

Brown, why not. Hurts will probably have to try in 4th quarters now so WRs will get increased opportunities

The Jags defense stinks so Lawrence will have to throw for a ton with high scoring games. They get to 10 wins, why not.

I don't think the a lot of these prediction you have listed are all that crazy.

The Saints have a cupcake schedule and you could argue the best team they play against is the Jags/Giants. They very well could have the best record but still not be a great team.

NFC North is a toss up between Packers/Vikings/Lions, so its not outlandish to pick the packers.

Kincaid winning OROY is the most bold here since TEs seem to take awhile before things click for them. Pitts was one of the few rookie TE that actually did anything.

AJ Brown leading in receiving yards is very possible since I anticipate the Eagles to throw more since they have a tougher schedule and won't have as many big leads in the 4th quarter.

Lawrence winning MVP isn't out of the realm of possibility, things really started to click with him halfway through last year. Could see him take quite a leap with his 2nd year in Doug's system like Wentz did.
