Nothing off the rails about that statement at all. Yes, the NFL donates some of the proceeds to cancer research, however....

According to data obtained from the NFL by Darren Rovell of ESPN, the NFL "takes a 25% royalty from the wholesale price (1/2 retail), [and] donates 90% of royalty to American Cancer Society.”

In other words, for every $100 in pink merchandise sold, $12.50 goes to the NFL. Of that, $11.25 goes to the American Cancer Society (ACS) and the NFL keeps the rest. The remaining money is then divided up by the company that makes the merchandise (37.5%) and the company that sells the merchandise (50.0%), which is often the NFL and the individual teams.

Then consider that only 71.2% of money the ACS receives goes towards research and cancer programs. After everyone has taken their cut, only 8.01% of money spent on pink NFL merchandise is actually going towards cancer research.

Money that likely wouldn't have been contributed otherwise. I've had family members suffer with cancer so I just find it tough to complain about that amount of money being raised for cancer research, even if it's not as efficient as I'd like it to be.

My dad has been battling cancer the last 2 years, has a surgery next week. My grandfather passed away from cancer. I'm pretty sure every single one of us has had a family member battle cancer. It sucks. The NFL brought attention to Breast Cancer but also exploited the hell out of it. They 100% were making money off of BCA. They were called out about it A LOT. Around that same time is when Crucial Catch was launched. From everything I read, Crucial Catch is more focused on donating to the American Cancer Society with game worn items being auctioned off and such.

BGN continuing to slack.  Day before the game and still no preview pod.

Not sure if I'm reading this wrong, if I woke up on the wrong side of the bed or what but it comes off as a rather bold assumption about me and quite frankly pisses me off.

If you look at what bothers me, and it includes the field messaging just as much as it does Taylor Swift....The NFL doesn't know where to stop. They go balls to the wall and it annoys me to know end. I don't like being bombarded with things. I also change the channel the minute I hear the Burger King song if that helps! In the long run, the NFL doesn't give a damn about ANY of these things. They care about one thing and that's their wallet getting bigger.

Yes, I've complained about the diversity messaging on the field and the commercials but I that's because I think it's silly and overdone. I also think it's silly when you go to a Hershey Bears game and I'll use your words, the mostly Wonder Bread crowd yells "Go Bears" during the National Anthem. The same fans who probably say don't kneel and respect the flag, yell and scream during the anthem.

Another thing I've mentioned about the on the field messaging and helmet messages is that from an aesthetic standpoint, it changes how the game has looked. I've said many, many times how much I love the way the sport of football looks. From the uniforms, equipment, logos on the field and everything. I've got books upon books about the pictural history of football the NFL and have mentioned how as a kid I would study the cards, preseason magazines and Eagles Digest to see what gear guys were wearing. Post 2020, the NFL game now looks different as it's no longer just the players in their uniforms but social awareness messaging. You can even go back to when the Breast Cancer Awareness fad started and how the entire NFL stadium was pink. Another money grab for the NFL.

What I've pointed out about the halftime shows is that Jay-Z is now heavily influencing what the NFL does for SB Halftime shows are going to be geared more towards hip hop/R&B. FYI, the Dre, Snoop, Mary J and Eminem halftime show was one of my favorites. That's who I grew up listening to. I also loved Usher so I have no problem with him for 2024.

Maybe, and hopefully you didn't mean anything by that statement and I apologize for the minor rant in response if so.

I DVR every sport for a number of reasons.

I'm a full time caretaker, so when my wife needs help, you can't let a game be an excuse.

I hate commercials, in game commentary (uh coach, do you have a minute for my stupid question, thanks for the cliched answer), and dead time.

Allows me to control my life instead of games controlling me.

What do you think the net revenue is from retail sales? It's not like the manufacturer is going to make this stuff for free (great cause, but you'd like to stay in business), same with the retailer (someone has to pay those salaries). I think the ACS would tell you the money isn't the primary value of this campaign compared to the millions in value pushing awareness of their cause - imagine trying to buy that advertising time and exposure.

And Stanford upsets Colorado 46-43 in double OT. Down 29-0 at the half.

First time I have ever seen a coach decide to go on offense in OT after winning coin toss. Not a good idea.

It seems like quite a bit bothers you. Maybe you need to just pop a gummy tonight,, grab a bag of chips, park your ass on the couch to watch a nature documentary, and chill out a bit.

Now that is an ironic statement.
