You are allowed to talk with agents..... again... you are allowed to talk with agents.   That is the rule.  The Eagles aren't new to free agency... they know the rules.  They followed the rules.

An argument to this is the uneducated opinion.

How before they recently created this rule change providing a early negotiating with agent window ….were these FA already agreeing to these complicated contracts or sorting through which suitor to choose by the first minute after it was legal to actually begin negotiating?

I can agree with this one factor out of the many that go into generating stats….the correlation with wins. But definitely hadn’t proven out that the more a team wins leads to more opportunities for a WR generating stats. Especially garbage time stats. Don’t think any other position actually benefits more statistically than WR in situations of his team losing. Teams with the lead or blowing out winning? Very clearly not a situation any WR you’d expect to generate stats then.

OK.... go look at the top ten WRs the last few years... go see how their teams did.   Not difficult... You have a theory ... you go look for proof of your theory.  Go ahead... what do you see with the top ten WRs?    We don't have to argue... the proof is there.

Top 10 WRs.... teams won.... two 12 games... three 11 games ... 10 games...  9 games...8 games ... 5 games and 2 games

Does it show anything as being a sole reason... but obviously the work it takes for a team to pass the ball successfully, usually translates into better team success.   6 of the ten with double digit wins... 7 with winning record...  seems Adams (8 wins)  Keenan Allen (5 wins)  and Adam Theilen (2 wins)  were the minority.

Ironically... all three of those guys have done better when their teams have done better.    So one can draw their own conclusion.   Mine is... it's not so easy for a WR to just play for stats.

You make some points I agree with. Totally understand so many benefits of a player going through an agent as well as a GM going through an agent towards a player. Wouldn’t and never argued otherwise.

Now you seem to be blaming me for what you clearly acknowledge here was an idiotic statement of impropriety occurred by the Penn St coach. Like you said yourself he did that. All I did was acknowledge that statement lead to the league investigating us for the situation. Which if we were found guilty would result in penalizing us a draft pick. Not sure how you are trying to make that situation reflect on me some how. I didn’t say it Penn St coach did. I didn’t catch wind of anything and report our team to the league in violation. The league began investigated on their own over what the Penn St coach said.

You’re wrong about no competition for Saquan. There were teams coveting his services. Several. It came down to between us and the Texans as the final two bidders.

And you think Howie calling him personally... just to say... Penn State... would be the difference... you think the agent wouldn't hear all the offers to get the best one?     $$$$$$   Talk to the agent.

I’ll explain…what I believed we already understood. FA negotiations weren’t waiting to begin legally. There is zero way you can explain how all these guys had already gone through the process of eliminating all the other suitors, choosing the winner, negotiating every contract detail….all within a minute, hour ..to be reported in a flood of expected news the very day FA negotiations became legal.

So the NFL just wisely changed the rule to give an agent renegotiating window…so they could at least create a reason and appearance for what already was occurring. I mean if the negotiations are taking place all summer with a FA having the structure of rules the new way at least creates any possibility of doubt as to why the FA accomplished such long and complicated tasks already to actually sign first day of FA signings.

Let me ask you.... and be honest here.   When a rule changes... from an off the field perspective... don't you think the Eagles are usually right at the front of taking advantage of new said rules?   Hasn't the salary cap... promoting the minorities...etc ... been enough of an example for you?

The rules have been in place a few years... don't you think the anal rule follower Howie would follow them?   Simply... talk to the agent.  Logically the agent is the one anyway.

WE all know during the combine is when a lot of it is done because they are allowed to talk about their own players represented by the agents... you don't think a " we are interested in that player wink wink"  happens?    The players aren't there... it's the agents.

To think Howie would talk to Barkley instead of the agent is stupid.  And you immediately did that.   Fell for it just like a sucker.  Why... because it was Howie.   You automatically assume every time... if it can be someone's fault, it's Howie's.    Your agenda.

Criticize the picks... the coaching hires... that's absolutely football stuff.... buy why would you criticize the nerdy office guy stuff when it comes to Howie?    Makes no sense.

Office workers have jobs... you think they take off after the season.  You don't think htey plan for hours who they want to target with certain offers... you don't think they know what otehr teams are looking to do...etc.   Agents, GMs...players... they all talk, hint, whatever.   Not rocket science.

Is it difficult to understand... when you talk with an agent... it's actually better than talking with a player... because the agent is the one who handles the money.   The agent works for the player, and will relay any message asap.

A GM that has been very active... one could probably argue the GM that has been the most active in free agency... probably signing more total free agents than any other GM has done over the years (both due to tenure, but also because he has been very active in FA).... you would think he knows to contact the agent.

A fan of the team that has this GM... should understand this part, and shouldn't jump to a conclusion that the GM talked to the player instead of the agent.  Simply because some idiot college coach made a dumb statement.    ATL ... a team that isn't the usual big FA player...the obviously did things they shouldn't have.  They also had to try to woo a QB... the Eagles had a RB to where they pretty much didn't have the competition in other teams looking to spend the money on a RB.

At some point... one should get their head out of their arse...live in the real world instead of thinking everything is like a movie and always needs drama.  Real life is mostly boring on the business side of things.   The nerdy GM.. knows business... his issue is and always has been... picking the players.

The last point is exactly what I’m the one doing: dealing with the actual reality. Not sure how you concluded that what drives the addiction and popularity of the NFL is because everything is so boring? Never any news or anything to see here with the NFL ever…much less be the place to provide it so consistently. Maybe they’ll actually be something interesting happen in football they’ll make a movie or show about it….one day.

Which 4 games do you think we win.... (3rd time asking that question)    Very simple direct question.  Are we going to do the usual BS here ... or answer the simple question with 4 games?

You can ask however many times whatever questions you wish. I’m not here to do your bidding. But I do usually answer…whether you like the answer or not is always a different question. But I don’t have exact W/L thoughts formulated for each game remaining on our schedule. Too many factors to try and get way ahead. I’m the guy understanding just how very little relevance there is to how you place massive emphasis on things like SOS based on the previous season.

So the Cowboys are in this desperate situation needing a win versus us to keep their season alive. They’re at a low with everybody counting them out. We’re at a high in a moment of receiving the most praise and expectations by the largest consensus. Usually I tend to back my opinions with more concrete solid factual football reasoning. But this week I’m just more going with ‘gut’ and a ‘feeling’ of we will lose knocking is back down a peg when we are being touted so highly by everybody. Plus it exactly will be what gives the Cowboys their needed boost and keep them alive into everything.

Results of being an Eagles fan all these years?  But I very much have become accustomed to this is exactly when disappoint tends to strike. How can any Eagles fan have much of a different understanding and expectation? It’s been so predictably rough being an Eagles fan I actually believe the huge surprise for me would be that simple positive result of we win living up to our widely touted expectations this moment…putting away our rival down Cowboys season hopes.

I never said anything like you can put up big stats coinciding with a W. I just can clearly understand the two aren’t the same like FL believed so fervently. So many situations where I can point to a team losing versus a team winning actually facilitating statistical success more.

Down multiple TDs always leads to a team passing more. Up multiple TDs leads to passing less.
On the flip side obviously having good players on a team playing well leads to stat production over bad players on a disfunctional team. But seen so many times these backups or less than elite players put up big stats while losing ….while that same game or day the elite QB isn’t putting up the big stats while winning.

The hum drum method of all the backroom stuff... the office stuff... is boring.  Not the news of the roster building...lol.    Did you get any toys for Christmas as a kid?  Do you drive a car?    Do you think building your toys or building the car is so exciting for these factory workers... the office stuff behind the scenes is a lot of boring stuff.

I played softball a few times at the Vet in a tournament hosted by the Eagles front office ...the little guys, accountants, sales etc... you talk to those guys and they tell you all the boring stuff, not what we see on TV.   Business is not always exciting behind the scenes with detail.

But since you got in the mix on the conversation No Mas….I was pointing out the flawed logic of FL excusing the situation tied to DJ’s frustration with preferring to be on a team that wins more. Because I’d argue he’s on his best most successful winning team and season of his career. Yes, he’s been a part of some terrible squads that have terrible win/loss records, yet proving my point put up nice stats still.

The QB... I was talking about the WR.. .so was GB when he was talking about Moore.... or did I miss something?  Isn't he a WR?

So you can't find the 4 wins... which in turn could lead to what would be our tougher competition the rest of the way.     But you go with the trend that Hurts can't win in Dallas.   So you don;t think he will win this week.   Got it.

I think he breaks the streak and wins his first game in Dallas.... and actually plays fairly well.

Don’t know who you’re even arguing with or what here? Penn St coach made the stupid statement. League started the investigation. My only role was understanding all this and dealing with reality waiting to find out what the results are. I never said we were guilty of anything. I had no role to play here. If anything all I ever said is we might lose a draft pick over it. I never even said Rosie got caught cheating or we definitively did it or anything like that. No fire here you keep pointing the extinguisher at.

\Yeah.. he is a WR.. that position getting stats usually translates to team success.

I never said we did anything illegal specifically with Saquan. I’ve just pointed out the reality of how league wide operating procedure has been against the rules. It’s been so overwhelming flagrant was exactly why the NFL adapted their rules to give a presigning Agent only negotiations head start. I really don’t think it has much of any effect on how teams win suiting FAs. It’s just smart business for the NFL to provide any believably reasoning for why everything occurring could even possibly be according to their rules. Now when all these guys sign on the first day the rules allow …there is a following the rules possible explanation for how it happened.

So up three scores tends to lead to more passing? No. But on the flip side maybe you got up three scores by passing. But very clear historical evidence that while leading…that is when running the ball is more utilized. Being down is historically lead to more passing than running.

Anybody who plays fantasy football should easily understand this how it plays out all the time. Fourth quarter would you rather have the WR down or up to score you the needed 10 points?

I totally agree that working in a factory is more boring than involvements surrounding the NFL. You think that is why NFL has a gazillion fans and drives prices so high with any NFL affiliation? Feels like that’s making my point ..not yours.

I explained my jaded feelings created from being an Eagles fan expected us to lose. But you aren’t shoving any agendas around turning that into Hurts can’t win…nah.

Over and over I keep bringing up a team losing being down exactly provides much more opportunity for WR stats. Being up the opposite.
But you keep dodging what I made as the actual point: how can you try and make the excuse based on wanting to win more in DJ’s situation creating this now…on his best team…versus every other season on lesser teams?

But yes I agree that there are some ties to statiscal production and winning. Mostly moving the ball and scoring versus sucking not moving the ball and not scoring.

You wing your fantasy football because of a player posting up that 100 yards and a TD in garbage time doesn’t translate to a victory in the real game however.
W/L success and statistical production are two different things is all I made a point of. Which I find just basic and obvious…but FL actually really places all importance on statistics being a win. All kinds of scenarios every which way. But I’m convinced that if we don’t put up the grandest stats or score record points …as long as we have more points than the other team we win. Up 3-0 I’ll run out the clock kneeling the ball not giving my opponent even a chance to do anything. I’m not chasing stats. Producing more stats at that point only provides an opportunity to lose.

He’s a player that’s put up nice stats on losing teams. That FL stated he walked off the field in the middle of the play…At this moment of his career…the very season he’s stepped up to his best team ever in his career…you know potentially at least….because this team is so bad.

I’m not even arguing against your point with stats…I think. Produce yards and TDs CAN help win. Not producing any yardage or scoring it’s real tough to win. Totally agree with that one part of many that apply.
On the flip side endless  games historically where a WR puts up plenty of stats in a loss.
