Gainwell better at everything else. I get that you think " this guy is coach's favorite " but come on, this is the NFL ..surely you can see why the players would prefer Gainwell out there on a key play over Sanders. Just more assignment reliable! Gainwell can’t make the big play like Sanders did. Clearly a big deal. But Gainwell being the supposed receiving back was a hoax also. He hasn’t come close to Sanders rookie receiving numbers either. But….Sanders was a moron. So fully get that.

I do mean DiD…don’t see any future for him. I agree Gainwell won't get that dumb contract...but he will move on and play somewhere else in a bigger role than he has had here ... probably make 2 to 4 mil per year somewhere.

But I don’t think that is what coaches look for. They want the reliable back. That isn't Sanders

More to playing RB than just taking it to the house. The little things Gainwell was always more reliable. Even as a rookie. Sanders was a moron. Yes. Gainwell been far from perfect performing the assignments though. So not the windfall in Gainwell’s favor. But Gainwell has been improving. Thought he stepped up to earn the backup job this season. Not to be taken lightly when you consider it was our best RB competition we’ve had in years. We had three guys not make the 53 that can play ball.
January 19, 20251 yr Sanders... 16 carries 80 yards... 5 yards a carry...that was typical for Sanders. One run for 45 yards...then 15 carries for 35 yards. Not what coaches look for.
January 19, 20251 yr The whole RB that drove me nuts situation was rostering Sermon. What a waste of a roster spot. On a champion team……that one I definitely harped on.

Injury , ball security, protection of QB... getting a tougher yard....all Gainwell. Running for a long run....that is Sanders. You are big with the offseason and the weight room. No contest between the two. And just the simple idea that Gainwell is more of a fox hole guy than Sanders...that is important too.

Alvin didn't know squat about anything....but he knew his assignments in the defense.... kill the qb...kill the RB...kill everyone...lol I'm not looking for a rocket scientist...just a player that's reliable in their assignment.
January 19, 20251 yr I don’t really believe much in that Wonderlic…but don’t really know much about it either.

I think the eye test with a player... and then the things we don't see in the interviews behind the scenes. You have pay check players...and players who really have a passion and want to get better. Looks like we have been getting the guys who love football lately.

January 19, 20251 yr Yes targeted the hard working passion for football coachable players. Don’t think Davis and Carter fell into that categorization. The environment they're surrounded by here works. Can’t stress enough how huge it’s been for Carter. Think he could have gone any which way. But he really is showing he put in the work like a madman this whole season. Ready for it to payoff big time …right now.
January 19, 20251 yr If I need a guy to run the 4 ×100 relay...I pick Sanders.. if I need a guy to help win a football game, I pick Gainwell.

I think Carter is a student of the game... the rookie trying to intercept Mahomes spike... that's not a dude that isn't into football.

Sanders is no super athlete and Gainwell is no geek. I'm not obsessed with the flash player. I don't watch college and look simply for skills. I like the player that's into the game...into the job. You don't get to the league without physical ability...Gainwell is a good athlete. Probably better than Sanders except for just straight ahead speed.

Not that caught up on either. Gainwell’s messed up on his assignments. He hasn’t produced as a receiver. Just been limited. He’ll be replaced….not getting some starting gig anywhere. Sanders was a better athlete. In sports …it matters. Many sides to all of this stuff. Just gotta make the most of the roster chosen. Complete the puzzle best way.
