I’m looking at the compensatory picks not just with us not picking up any outside first wave FAs….but any guys we resign we aren’t gaining those comp picks…which is pretty much the same as costing us those. 
 

If we retain Sweat let’s say. Not only do we have to pay him big bucks…but we won’t get that third round comp pick. You could easily see this as essentially being us having to trade…for our own player. If you can wrap your head around this logic.

It’s a balancing act if you think a veteran player can aid you I don’t think you pass them up so you can add a mid round draft pick…

The guys we should be keying on retaining are the lesser ones. Like Fred Johnson. Maybe Driscoll. Oren Burks possibly.

See my sleeper guy Ojomo just always looked legit to me. Have Davis and Carter. I thought Booker looked like he belongs also. So I don’t think we are really needing to scramble there. Might want to actually target a more Nose type in the draft.

It’s a factor. If you do chose to sign a guy like Allen then you realize you aren’t just deciding to pay him…it’s costing you that whatever Comp pick also(4th rounder?)

Raiders gave up a third round pick for their starting QB in Geno. So third and fourth round picks are far from nothing.(plug in whatever trade example you wish)

Now…you could maybe make an under the table deal…and guarantee you’ll pick a player up in the second wave of FA if he’s willing. I could see that working. Probably even happen.

Again is that 4th rounder worth an instant contributor???? I’m under the impression Allen will likely come fairly cheap less than we paid Josh Sweat last season of 10m.  
 

And think he can still play around that pro bowl level be that Chris Long caliber veteran addition think that is way more valuable that a 4th rounder. 

We have Sweat, Milton, Becton and Rodgers going to grab us some nice comp picks. That’s two 3rds, a 4th and a fifth round compensatory gains(guesstimate…give or take)

I do think the Eagles will be selective in FA not just signing a guy to sign them but adding an Edge or another DE/DT in the first wave would not shock me either think there are some names available that would be instant contributors to a SB team looking to repeat

I’m on the opposite thinking more…hesitant to even want to retain our guys because we’ll lost the comp pick for them leaving. Agreed with the call about Baun. But that’s about it.

And had to loan him contract he wasn’t cheap he was on a 4 year 72m deal in his final year on top of giving Washington a pick…

Again I like Allen think he fits what we need doesn’t mean Philly does you can plug whatever name you like I just see names that can come In and be instant contributors for us and the goal is to repeat can’t do that if we sit idle so we can get picks in 2026

I don’t know everything…but I don't think this article is correct. These players that have been cut are unrestricted FAs now. He might be confused by later on when vets get cut over salary cap issues. But not  when they are signed as part of this first wave of FA signings. I could be wrong…but that was my understanding on it all.

But again I stand firm getting a player that can help us win in 2025 v gaining a 4th round comp pick in 2026? I’m taking the player all day  it that’s just me…

Roseman and other general managers can take advantage of the rule by signing players who are released before their contract expires. Those players don’t count toward the formula.

Goal might be more than just repeat attempt. Maybe looking at a Championship window bigger than two years(obviously just came off one year).

That window isn’t open if you lose this year 😂…. Again repeat then 3 peat then 4 peat… don’t want to win one then wait another 2-4 years to win another 

Knowing you are cleaning up going to receive those comp picks…wouldn’t that make it much easier for you to pull the trigger on making a trade in the draft or for a vet?
