That makes no no different then signing a player in FA then lol if your using a pick to get a player then you can just sign a player and use a pick…

Either way you lose a pick and have to spend money on said player both approaches are the same just at different times

All the versatility of options. Use the comp pick to draft a player. Use the comp pick to move up in the draft. Use the comp pick to trade for a vet.

Absolutely not chalking up 2025 as a no contest. How would that even happen? Just because don’t sign any outside first wave FAs isn’t going to have anybody around here not expecting to contend.

Your losing two key DL players a possibly two starting CBs(Rodger’s/Slay they both were huge) and looking to add nobody to fill those voids because your afraid  to loss a 4th round comp pick in 2026 v adding a guy that could contribute right now

He would love to play for a contender at this point in his career, Pats won't give him that

He will play for whoever pays him. If he wants to end his career on a losing team that's on him

Use the comp pick to sign a player that helps you win again it’s all part of the equation I know your only looking at 2026 and beyond but 2025 comes first.

I have zero issue signing an edge or a DE that help NOW IN 2025 and getting 3 comp picks next year v just 4 comps picks in 2026

Glen Erby-Eagles Wire

Now…I can actually give him some serious credit. He’s pretty legit source. So maybe worth looking into deeper to confirm what he’s stating. Not my understanding of how it worked…but Erby is a source I’ve read and heard of….not just some no name on Threads.

According to the article he would not so argue with them

No clue I thought Landry was just a FA no released my fault… I honestly don’t know how released player factor in they are no just normal FA that teams are not willing to resign…

If they don’t effect the comp picks even more reason for the Eagles to look at Allen/Landry/Bosa all could help in 2025 and Ham Would still get his 2026 comp picks

Just understanding things are a bit more complicated and need to proceed as wisely as possible.

Just saying Landry is 28, maybe 3 years left in the tank, It's his "window of opportunity" to play for a contender. You want to squander your career away in NE "for a few dollars more"? Or would you rather like a shot at a ring?

Losing these guys is gaining us the comp picks…that’s the positive

It's too complicated for old man too. I just assumed Erby would know what he;s talking about. Landry with NO loss of comp picks sounds great to me OLB locked in for 2-3 years

It doesn’t help us in 2025 either seem to focused on just 2026 not the upcoming season im trying to look at both

See if they are fit before the new league year begins I don’t see how they aren’t just  unrestricted FAs at that point…I mean..they are. So have to be very specifically in the comp pick formula rules.

Baun and Landry. really nice pairing IMO. Fangio would get the best out of Landry

Landry I actually see as declining…is why they dumped him. Seen some metrics confirming this. But he loves Vrabel…and the Pats can open up the vault for the declining player. Pretty much a win/win. But yeah…Pats do suck…but coming from the Titans…so?

My guess is because the teams that had them under contract opted to release them is why they don’t factor against comp picks. They chose to get rid of the player they are not just walking in FA and they can’t resign them.

I mean we don’t get a comp pick for Slay right since we opted to release him so he doesn’t factor into the comp formula

You got both guys who can get to the QB or be disruptive

Nah…see I can see how we could utilize those 2026 comp picks towards 2025. You gotta think to the next level to get there. Knowing you are expecting those….wouldn’t it make trading away other 2026 picks for the 2025 season much easier to swallow? Trade for a vet or trade in the draft.

Like how hard will it be to trade away our 2026 third rounder? Makes it much easier to swallow if you know we are going to gain those comp picks. On and on..,down this different scenario thinking….

But again ok we trade a 2026 3rd rounder to get a player in 2025 how is that different then just signing a player to lose a 2026 4th round comp pick lmao.

I see what your talking about there just isn’t a difference in my mind it’s just choosing which picks you want to get rid of for the player to help in 2025 either approach is fine with me

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LandHa00.htm  I see no decline, of course you run the risk of that happening no matter

Harold Landry's nine sacks this season obscured the waning production that more advanced stats show," Ballentine wrote. "In his second full season back from a torn ACL, Landry actually registered a career-low 9.2 pressure rate, per Sports Info Solutions. His final pre-injury season saw him rack up 62 total pressures as opposed to the 33 he had this season. Those underlying numbers point toward a player who is slowing down."

And that’s really all I’m saying is it effects everything going on. Just because…we are in such a great driver’s seat to earn these comp picks. It starts with…do we even want to give up the comp picks by resigning our own guys…all the way to what we do with those comp picks next draft…and everything in between.

The cool part to consider is: how much different is the value of our earned pick in 2026 draft…compared to the comp picks? Hardly any difference at all if we are picking 32nd 😉

Davontae Adams to Rams 2 year deal

Arron Jones resigns with Vikings 2 years

Dk to steelers 2nd and swapping a 6th for a 7th
