Higher paid position than interior DL. Jones right now is the top paid DT. That will be the selling point... especially being Carter would be paid $5 mil in 2027 and a 5th year option around $15 mil.... then the ability for the Eagles to tag him at DT #s, Garrett, Parsons and whoever else on the outside won't count. The top DTs are locked up for the most part...I don’t see a tag being good for Carter. He has the ability to get paid right away and then renegotiate early. Always the smart move, especially with the Eagles who like to pay cash early. You go on these cap websites and you see how highly our guys are paid. The cash #. Carter would be smart getting that ASAP.

One thing I will say is last year our picks coming from Toledo, Iowa and wherever Hunt played....definitely a change from the previous 3 years with the big schools. You would think that makes us less predictable. Which I like. Also,i assume we see at least one DB in this draft.
March 15, 20251 yr Becton to the Chargers.... 2 year deal Let's hope it's $14 mil per so we get a 4th round comp pick
March 15, 20251 yr Author I like Carter and Belton. We agree on those. I was thinking about why Howie is picking up what seems to be camp bodies. Then it began to make sense. Since we lost alot of good players, he basically filled the cupboards at all positions without spending a boatload. Some could work into solid BU's if we trust our staff. These moves allow Howie to pick any position in the draft because no matter,he already has the BU's here who will be sorted out in camp, but what he has done frees him up to move around freely without having to draft "a position of need". Therefore no one can force his hand or say "OH the Eagles need X position and we can force a trade" Howie eliminated that on draft day. It's a brilliant move to own as much of the draft as possible and also maybe resurrect a few players. We can still play alot like we did last year. Keep Hurts in control and run the ball. Tougher schedule, but we will still be competitive. Howie can choose their boards BPA without having to reach. More sorting after the draft, but I love how he will remain in control and not have to make any panic picks. Let's see what happens. It's going to be a very interesting camp 🙂 Fly my birds
March 15, 20251 yr Author Here is my mock FWIW 1-32) Nick Scourton- edge-Teaxs A&M 2-64) Josh Farmer- DT- Florida St 3-96) Anthony Belton-OT-NC state 4-134)- Barrett Carter- LB-Clemson 5-161)-Jordan Hancock-CB-Ohio St. 5-164)-Kaden Prather-WR-Maryland 5-165)- Malachi Moore- S-Alabama 5-168) Jalin Conyers-TE Texas Tech

They are both excellent players, I just like Scourtons fit a bit better
March 15, 20251 yr Becton getting us a 5th round draft pick. 2 years $20 mil. Idk, I'm thinking that's disappointing...we could have probably come close to that where he could have stayed... and a 5th round comp pick in the 170s.... not really doing much. Thanks to Andy Reid for putting that pathetic left side of his OL in the SB.... making Sweat and Milton look like stud players and getting them those overpaid contrects and us those higher comp picks!
March 15, 20251 yr I am surprised Fred Johnson hasn't signed anywhere.. that was the comp pick I was anticipating we would get at possible 5th round level.

But he’s being ranked fairly consistently around our pick from what I’m seeing. Just feels like several juicy Edge players to choose from at 32-ish. Just gotta make a good choice …the options are there. I’m fine with trading up some for my guy here though…he’s worth it!
March 15, 20251 yr Becton was by far the cheapest of our top four FAs…like I said. Not your thoughts on it being Baun, No Mas, which I don’t even believe he reached his peak market value by staying. Becton at 10 mil per….wasn’t even close.

That's a HUGE lift from 32 to even 22 and Howie isn't going to do it. I had the DT from Toledo, but he will go too high for our 2nd pick and a round 1 on him is a reach unless we trade out of round 1 entirely(which I said would be the move to make)

He just feels like such a safe hit! He’s disruptive and consistent.

Just telling me how there was no way Baun could get paid over 15 mil per At his age/position/ league history like Becton would command. Not only did Baun command more…even in what I believe was team friendly to stay….Becton didn’t really come very close. Right around what I was saying he’d probably command if he left. Never would have paid him that to retain him.

March 15, 20251 yr But so now coming down to what is Beef Jurgey looking for in his extension? Clearly we’re going to give him the ten mill before we ever were to Becton. Really would like it to be more like 8.5 mil.
