The NFL Players Association will never let the Collective Bargaining Agreement eliminate void years like the Commissioner wants. The players get more cash sooner when void years are used like Howie uses them.

That would sure throw a wrench into things LOL

The NFL’s business plan is built on a foundation of parity. With parity more cities can have hope of postseason success. They don’t wander dynasties if they can help it. Both KC and NE had marketable superstar QBs. So they were tolerated because those superstars drew audiences even in also ran cities. They don’t see a marketable superstar on the Eagles. Just a lot of players who carry lunch pails.

Agreed, this is also how Dullaz became "America's team" Actually, that should be Philly if you go by history

America is from the Aleutians down to Cape Horn. More than half of that speaks Spanish. Philadelphia has no organic connection to Spanish speakers, but Dallas does. So they have a logical claim to the title.

No NFL teams down there. I was thinking Liberty Bell, battle of Gettysburg etc.

The fact that there are no teams doesn’t mean there are no fans.

I didn't make the quote "America's team" so I am not responsible. Most will assume we mean the USA in an NFL context. A least Canada has a league

I lived in Dallas from 1989 through 1996 , when Jerry’s marketing team rolled out the America’s Team moniker and campaign. All the Hispanic Cowboys were front and center in that campaign.

It was a lot like when Rupert Murdoch rolled out Fox News … recognize the underserved market segment and take it as yours.

America's team was from the 70s?

On the field, yes. But the concept of America’s Team was never really about the play on the field. It was about the play at the cash register.

On the East Coast you don’t see it as much as we see it here in California, where our population is over 40% Hispanic. The Cowboys are just as much the Hispanic Cowboys as they are the Bubba Cowboys, or the J.R. Cowboys. Close to as many Cowboys decals as 49ers decals on trucks.

From Geoff Mosher on Philly.com

Can the Eagles evolve offensively without reinventing the wheel?

One theme coming out of May's media availability was the direction of the offense under first-time OC Kevin Patullo. Several players, including A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts, talked about the need to evolve – and by that, you know they meant the passing game. Patullo, who was the pass-game coordinator and associate head coach before his promotion, said he would look to build on what the offense and players do best.

There’s no question the Eagles have to avoid the mistake of 2023, when the offense stalled and helped contribute to a 1-6 implosion after being explosive – sometimes unstoppable – in 2022 en route to a Super Bowl appearance. After the collapse, head coach Nick Sirianni admitted that the offense had become stale, so he fired previous OC Brian Johnson and hired Moore for fresher concepts.

This year, the Eagles will probably need to expand and add concepts, but at the same time, they can’t lose sight of the fact that they functioned best when the ball went to Saquon Barkley, this year's "Madden NFL 26" cover star. After signing Barkley in free agency, the Eagles finished with the NFL’s second-best run offense and fourth-worst pass offense, in terms of yards per game. That gap probably needs to narrow in 2025 but not at the expense of Barkley's impact, which is Patullo’s responsibility now.

Right...it was always known

Interesting choices. Shady Hurts and TO on the basis of peak years, but TO is definitely a wild card.

It sort of depends on who is the Offensive Coordinator.

Good post on the Blog

I encourage you to watch the entire Fangio press conference linked below it was good.

In addition to the reporter tweets posted already, my takeaways:

  • Huff: he basically said his hand injury kept him off the field, then other guys stepped up. He said he thinks he will do well in San Fran.

  • He seems high on Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt, and fine with the pass rush rotation including free agents and rookies brought in.

  • He really downplayed Sydney Brown. Was asked about his experience being a factor in the competition for safety job, and Fangio said his experience was in 2023, that last year he didn't play until October (because of his injury) and he hasn't really done much. Didn't seem high on him at all.

  • With DeJean and Baun both, he talked versatility and that they will play where it best helps the team, and that can depend on the other guys.

  • He acknowledged there are competitions at corner and safety (which we all know, but refreshing to have the honesty from the coach) and they won't really know until about after the 2nd preseason game.

  • Asked about Jalen Carter's high snap count, he said he's still a young pup.

  • He was told that Trotter Jr on a podcast said as a compliment to Jalen Carter "he doesn't even know how to play the position yet" in that he's just getting started and will get better. Vic agreed, said Carter has already shown a lot and has more room to improve, the sky's the limit.

  • About DT rotation, he said the guys from last year will mostly replace the snaps and Robinson will add to that (as expected).

  • With Jordan Davis, he did praise him for his play in the 2nd half of last season including getting better at pass rush. Before he said he wanted to "duck that question" about his conditioning, he said "we could be here all day for that" and then "for some guys it just takes time." He also said regarding the 5th year option that he had nothing to do with that, that's a Howie decision but he was good with it and said positive things about Davis' play.

  • Regarding Jordan Davis on pass rush, Vic said he started showing it in practice last year and then highlighted the importance of practice ("unlike a lot of people think you don't need practice.")

  • When asked about changing so much personnel, he cited all the changes at this time last year, and that he expects/hopes the new guys brought in (plus returning young players) will fill in to replace.

  • He said he's fine with the situation at corner, but it's a competition and Ringo and Jackson are both having good offseasons.

  • He said the SB parade meeting to criticize the team was fake news, he never said a negative word. He said he gathered them to compliment them on a great Super Bowl.

Did Fangio check with Dejean's agent to make sure it was OK? Asking for a friend🙄

Yeah but the agent ...going to request him moving outside.

Given the O line we have now, I would take the top group, because Bark is just a beast on any offense that has a top O line and maybe McNabb could still pull off the tush push. All 3 are great combos. That was a tough call for me
