April 18, 20241 yr If being questioned so hard doing that outside…he isn’t a great option in the slot much of the time then. The most important position to have fluid hips.
April 19, 20241 yr Had CB Terrion Arnold in for a visit. I’ve been talking about trading up for him. He was on a morning show and mentioned how Brian Dawkins was built and meant to play football …along with Kobe, Jordan and LeBron to play BBall…that he’s just born to be a football player.
April 19, 20241 yr The NFL has reinstated 5 players who were suspended indefinitely last year for violating the league’s gambling policy. Isaiah Rodgers was not one of them

I listed Bowers as my top tier elite prospect. But cold weather and wind is a factor. Several players don’t adapt well. Just look at Tua. I don’t think Tua has won a game with the weather under 50 degrees. Tua is a good QB. Lit it up last year. But…don’t see him translating as well here of in Chi- Town…or anywhere cold. Fell off to end the season for sure. Just not a cold weather QB. Will the cold wind hurt Bowers game? Not sure we have enough of any proof to show it wouldn’t. Probably stretching things here a bit I admit. But is something to consider and question. More than just athletic traits come into play. Many here seem to not understand these other factors. I think with the QB it's more of a concern....TEs seem to thrive in cold weather. Different game.

BPA should trump positional or player specifics being a top 5 overall player for any team. But specifics do come into play if a QB is being traded up for at 9. Think they could get even more than the suggested trade if a QB still is on the board at 9. Then all you list of specifics and position are huge factors. Bears will cash in big time. What's the obsession with #5? Don't you think they have different tiers on their board...why do we assume first tier is exactly 5 guys ? You have 8... say there are 4 QBs drafted....that puts it down to pick 12...say a few other players go first...now you can get that tier at pick 14 or 15... what's your trade chart say now? And not even the trade chart...you might find a team just looking to trade down anyway, might not cost as much. To give up the picks NOW??? Simply for the number 5??? Bad business.

Why do you have to argue? You wait to see if the CB is there at 9...then make the move. You don't give all that up for OL or WR...or even the TE.
April 19, 20241 yr 4 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said: How great would we fare if we had a CB that could limit Lamb and these other larger WR we face in the NFC? Be game changing. Yes... you follow me now... the guy is there at 8....you have Chicago on the phone....he doesn't get picked...bam you make the deal. That's how you do business as a winner. You get your specific guy.

On the radio tonight the local draft expert... I forget dude's name... was saying he sees him as probably the best safety in the class. Same issue with stiffness on the outside island...but says he knows how to manipulate the QB'S eyes and make mistakes. Would instantly be the guy to call the defense in the back.

But the top CBs every draft teams trade up to grab. Really hard to get a hold of. I’m not seeing that trade scenario as giving up anything crazy. That’s the amount we can afford to give up in my view. But like your other post suggests…of course I’d rather grab one of those same players at 15 than 9. Clearly cheaper. But you gotta have a trade partner….to go along with that player sliding down.

That price I don’t see as steep at all for any of those I listed.

So him being a S or shutdown outside CB…I do value the outside CB higher on my positional hierarchy. This coming from a fan obviously talks tons about needing S. Wanted the S Hamilton much more than Davis we took the pick before. Goes back to how much I wanted Earl Thomas in the draft. So saying this Arnold and Mitchel have a much larger value to me than a S. So DeJean slides down on my board if he’s a S and not a CB.
April 19, 20241 yr Watch these guys at the combine and they will freak out ready to jump off a bridge if they run4.6. 4.55 and they are high fiving everybody laughing it up. Just how thin the margins are.
April 19, 20241 yr No obsession with top five from me. Just would think it would speak for itself. Anybody in your top five overall ranking of the draft…is a beast! Checks all your boxes.
April 19, 20241 yr I can see scenarios where we trade back as well. I’m just not that rigid…opinionated…but not rigid.
April 19, 20241 yr ATL really sniffing around Penix. Could turn up a great opportunity where they try and trade up with their early second round pick to grab him. Offer a deal that can’t be refused. That’d be pretty ideal.
April 19, 20241 yr Had heard a rumor that us and GB were bidding for Seattles 16 pick. Very interesting there too. I don’t know how much I put into any rumors like that though. I assume any quality GM has done his due diligence and discussed asking prices across the board. Clearly we aren’t in the know like the NFL GMs can be. But examples of hearing 9 and 16 being potentially on the block I expect Rosie to already have a solid idea of what it would take if he made that choice to move up. Things always changing however. A bidding war gets started all bets are off. But every GM should have baselines of the costs and opportunities to move around the board.
April 19, 20241 yr At 4 with the Cards. They easily probably already have fielded tons of calls about trading back. So one call to them about the price might get a response real simply of …not happening. Too many other opportunities and they aren’t willing to drop all the way to 22. Stuff like that. Need to find out as much as possible before the draft begins.

The rules are made for the offense. 2 first downs already across midfield. The kickers can make kicks from there...i miss the old school from that standpoint. I agree 100% with this. Start at the 20. Eliminate the kickoff completely. Rules favor the offense more and more each year. Make them drive farther to score.

Right....probably bleacher report could come up with another scenario that shows another trade.... but if not, one will still probably happen. I'll give us 5% chance of picking at 22. Recent trend would be a trade up to 17-20 to grab a specific target. But I can also see a trade down if they fall in love with the idea of a developmental OT as the play. So... find the bleacher report article that finds a slight trade up.... then look a spot or two away from that.
