Remember when he played with Wade for the Heat. I drove to Miami for a few games. ELECTRIC. Worth the 3 hour trip to South Beach

That vibe is what is in the area now... even down here on the boardwalk seeing all LeBron ( Sixers shirts). The arena is going to be buzzing all year.

I tell you what will be interesting to see..

When Sixers camp opens in September ...the 26th... Eagles will have played 3 games in think... but I want to see the attention given to each.

It was a new story, but back of the line, during season all Eagles except for Phillies playoffs.... but curious to see how they put the news in order in 7 weeks.

LeBron dedicated and committed doing everything way back in high school too. Many here fanboy up players that just finally get in shape for their contract season. You know…like Davis. Another absolute freak athlete. Imagine if him or Carter actually were completely dedicated like Hurts or LeBron. Could argue both are near similar tier of absolutely highest levels of all time gifted athletes.

Speaking of which: Carter in great shape for his payday. Kind of questioned things for a minute. But…then just assumed he was…giving due credit to Rosie as not stupid. Even inked weight financial dependency.

I mean…on one hand great Rosie could contractually incentivize Carter identifying at least one small way for Carter to become a pro. On another hand you could state that need for a weight clause actually points to exactly why you don’t commit whole franchise towards him like we did. Yeah he absolutely stunk last season. With everything coddling towards getting his best. Carter doesn’t achieve anywhere near any other place. Ok plus

Not so much that... I know your generation had the guys smoking cigarettes on the sidelines and you thought that was just the coolest..thr John Wayne type thing. The real men.

I grew up 80s- 90s... fitness was kool.. seeing Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, Michael Jordan ...physical types using their fitness level to elevate themselves within their sports. Even baseball players like Mike Schmidt etc. We had a local guy...Pat Croce, he was 76ers president when Allen Iverson played...but he started out as trainer for them and other local athletes. Like the fitness guru type.

That's what I saw. That's how we grew up. So I get how training comes into play...strength, speed, flexibility, endurance...along with diet, hydration etc.

That is what is kool to my generation, not the cigarettes on the sidelines.

That's evolved to such a higher level of sports science. The thing the organization has taken away from the Chip era. The smoothies, the sleep tracking all that stuff...prevents injuries and gets the athletes to perform at their max. Kelce, Celek, Graham etc...all spoke about how all that helped them.

Ironically Jason Peters who was too good for all that... his body went down hill fast.

LeBron and Brady took it to extreme level, but that's why they still perform at the older age... that's what was important enough to sacrifice for that.

Well this too,the MONEY changed ALOT. Back in my day 300 bucks a game LOL. not Millions per year, so definitely an incentive to stay fit

I was a Flyers fan when my GF was from Philly, changed to LV. Now I need to root for the Canes here

Even being the guy so targeting Carter before he even was going to be an option….got to say I’m concerned. Worry probably a step too far. But…back to back DTs Rosie went all out rewarding as franchise keys with massive contracts just because they finally got in shape. They got in shape exactly right for Rosie first opportunity to get paid huge. You know? Not like they just finally locked in and committed even. They both got in shape so we would completely commit the franchise to them. Not even impressive or signs of any actual commitment to being a pro. Did it completely to grab money.

Yes...great coach....he was a huge fan favorite while with the Flyers... and another fitness obsessed freak. He would come back from long road trips and lift weights at all hours. Never touched junk food or alcohol... dude played until age 39...21 seasons. A brick wall. Rod Brind'amour

The money sure made it to where sports were a full time living...a great one.

Three point limited range. He worked his butt off to really get his biggest weakness best possible. Ok ok…his biggest weakness was clearly being drafted by Cleveland. Does anybody ever stay there once they prove they can play any sport? Indians…oh so sorry..Guardians now…every single time their top elite player goes to Boston or New York. Absolutely destroyed my interest in MLB. Well that and it moves at a snails pace. Good live though.

Spawned entirely new business areas, Sports medicine, sports drinks, gyms. Gators college kicked that off with "Gatorade". Sports agencies also

Being your best working towards being a champion should be incentive enough. If it takes money? That’s a huge red flag! Put together finally just got in shape to get the money. Feeling a need to contractually force non commited athletes? I mean…that’s really just not good. Glad Rosie got it in there. But even biggest guy banging the table to get Carter here….think my uncertainty actually higher concerning this stuff now than ever before.

GF in FL(from Philly) who I had to say goodbye to(moving to NC) sadly not together long enough to make commitment

I question whether you just ever should sign anybody for such crazy huge money if you even feel the need for that in the contract. Actually kind of sliding to the other side now. He’ll have a great season this year…totally believe he’ll be Godzilla! It will be fantastic! But….commiting second highest contract with your franchise I don’t think I could sign off on. Feel sure Lurie had to be really worked fairly hard to get there agreeing to it. Pretty sure Lurie was against it. Heck…he made a few comments enough that I didn’t need the "pretty sure.” But…probably everybody else was for it. So would have really isolated Lurie as that owner really stepping over the lines of faith and trust in everybody doing their jobs.

He is terrific. They gave him a brand new contract(as they should)

I have NP fanning out for the 6ers with my homeboy on the team. Don't know much about them,so I will defer to those that do

That's tough. Philly girl so I'm sure she had some attitude...lol

Thing is…does financial incentives actually work? Some do. But it’s really not doing much with Carter. He got paid. Not sure how Carter responds now. It’s scary. Exactly my concern with him all along. Some guys the very moment after signing that payday absolutely done. Worked out to get paid…accomplished. What’s his dedication and commitment as a pro now?

So the main 3 that will start that were drafted here....Center Joel Embiid, has skills of a guard, but can't stay healthy. Was MVP a few years ago and really can't be guarded by one guy. Tyrese Maxey... dude is a jet...fast and quick and can shoot from deep. VJ Edgecomb entering year 2...can run and jump out of the building, great effort on defense too. Then it's pretty much all new players. So it's going to be fun to see.

Carter now accumulated massive money. So if money is only incentive to care about his job….no real reason to expect you can control his actions through money. Plenty athletes driven to reach as much money as possible. Like obsessed over insane needs. How much is enough? Payton Manning 100 mil nowhere close to how greedy and financially obsess he is. Ego, fame…but he sell himself for any commercial still. Guy flooded commercials with like foot different brands in single seasons. Then without ever doubting chasing TV opportunities.

Ok..back to Carter. What if he isn’t so greedy money obsessed hungry like that? He’s completely set financially in many people’s opinions. Could easily just feel getting rich being accomplished.

LeBron will give you that domination factor. He's not afraid to mix it up and make your defense look lame LOL
