BTW Tank is only 23, Bark is 29. Would love to pay Tank to stick around and take over RB1 when Bark is ready to hang up the cleats. I heard they are teaching tank to be a pass catcher. He never did that much before, even in Jax. Would like to see him do the Gains replacement thing this year. When Bark is ready to retire, we'd already have a complete RB in Tank to carry on. Hope we do that

I heard about retaining the Push. Not really a fan of it as it's alot on the O line and a sad admission that you can't gain 10 yards in 3 plays. OK for desperation 4th and 1's, at GL from the 1 but it's not a play I want to make a habit of. If you can't get 10 yards in 3 plays, that's a dig on your QB. I don't think the O line enjoys running those much. Of course they will do what's called to the best of their ability, but I hope to avoid them as when we ran so many one year the O line had more injuries. TB had those figured out and I imagine all teams have watched that film many times over. Darius Cooper has been killing it from what I am reading. Kind of puts Wilson on the bubble?

Smitty, Lemon, Wicks, H. Brown, Cooper, Covey

I'm really disappointed Wilson didn't pan out. I had high hopes for him.

I hope we can keep the tandem as long as possible.Tank needs more reps so he feels confident we will keep him around

Hurts was starting to trust Wilson. Like to keep him as a COP slot guy he's BIG target. I would take him over Covey. Ship in a battle for the 3. Picked up a new RB today. Let's see what he's got

Can Siri specific detail to next levels a couple other plays now? Be very key if he proves to possess this talent. Do it for two plays added in each season. I’d say QB sneak most difficult challenging play to do it. What he did there I’m believing can be done to any play.

anyone else hearing farts in the wind?

Hey Cap, question. You can retain DeJean and Q, then what do you do? Do you pay other top players or Hurts if he remains mediocre? Still need to see good performances this year but there are 2 maybe 3 franchise type QB's in next years draft. Hurts is fine as a game manager type, but a top passing QB would really open things up for us. Smitty, I hope Wicks sticks and can be re-signed, Lemon should be up to speed, Stowers could come into his own also. Creating a more pass heavy O(with a QB who can toss it more than 30 times a game effectively). If the O line is back and Bell is going to work(which thus far seems he will) snagging a top rook QB gives you ammo on the money side to keep/buy who you want. Cole could still slide in as our new #2(see McKee replacement)

So right now this is what is showing on the books as far as cap space:

2026 = $23 mil

2027 = $25.5 mil

2028 = $78.3 mil

This is with everyone showing on the books: Hurts, Carter, Lane etc. You would assume they would like to retain all of Ojomo, Mitchell, DeJean and Hunt. Smith probably on the bubble or is the one to go.

20208 is a key year here. Barkley, Mailata, Dickerson and Baun all have contracts that run through 2028 and have the void year in 2029. That is the same with Hurts as well with his huge cap hit on the 2029 void year.

So, you assume 1 or 2 or more of those 5 are released somehow or extended to avoid the big hits. One would think with Barkley and Baun for their positions and their ages that neither will be here in 2029, so they may be not even be here in 2028. Lane retires after this year may help.

Hurts is the key to the whole thing. If you move him post June via trade (prior to 2027 season)

It saves $21 plus mil in 2027, $23 plus mil in 2028 and almost $98 mil in 2029. Just getting that huge nut off the board in the future.

Now they may choose to renegotiate after this year, get him some guaranteed money for 2027 and 2028, but then take out the no trade clause. That might give them some more breathing room. Or they could release him after 2027, still saves the same numbers for 2028 and 2029.

It's tough, but I lean toward thinking they let him play out the 2027 season. But if they give him a deal, somehow Howie will put in an out for the team, similar to Wentz. People looked at the dead cap with Wentz, but the net result was they actually saved about $600k trading him and also got the picks. I think they set up something like that with Hurts if they redo his deal.

But I agree, that's a tough nut to pay without really seeing elite level play. The thing is they don't like looking for QBs, Lurie loves the idea of having the franchise QB, ironically they won with Foles and Hurts. So who knows how they see the business side of it now?

the cap will increase as well so that will help out. it's increased at least 5% (much higher some years) every season. howie takes this into account when figuring who to extend and when.

They need to freeze it awhile or we will be talking 5 year deals at a billion dollars LOL. Just insane

yeah, we just crossed $300mil per team. heck, it went up $134mil just since the eagles first SB.

Yeah, it's alot for Howie to juggle but that's why he makes the big bucks. We have the 2 round 1 picks next draft. We're going to have to decide what we do with McKee. He lit things up once, then came back to earth and is battling for the 2 right now. I'm wondering if McKee's "fall back" was intentional (I'm not going to do a conspiracy theory lol). Still if we signed him to a new BU contract, one would have to wonder how much for how long if that would make Hurts expendable. In any case the future of the QB spot rests solely on Hurts. We played Hurts during regular games as a "gimmick" with Wentz. Love to know what's going on in the "mahogany and brass" office brain trust

Need to be a doctor or lawyer to afford game tickets. "Regular fans" can't afford them which is sad

I believe OTC uses a standard increase in their cap projections going forward. So Cap's #s should be fairly accurate, but the increases usually exceed the projections it seems.

As for Howie,I don't think he uses that specific tool to decide which players to sign,more so just to push the money down the road where it's less valuable. $5 mil of cap space in 2031 isn't going to be as valuable as $5 mil now.

Most of us understand this very basic fundamental part of finance, but their seems to be always someone who doesn't seem to grasp the basic concept.

Well numbers and finance are boring, you can't make up Hollywood type of theories about numbers. No real reading between the lines and making up things.

Idk, there were rumors that the cap space we have in 2026 wanted the offense to use more motion.

And the cap space from 2028 doesn't think Siri is a good coach.

That's the rumors.

You could assume that by 2025 it's going to be around $600 mil per team. Be conservative and say $500 mil. Huge difference, but then you can easily see why $5 mil of cap space when the cap is $300 mil is way more valuable than $5 mil of cap space when the cap is $500 or $600 mil.

Jalen Hurts appears to have improved his overall speed, presenting a great sign for the Eagles going into the 2026 season.

Nice to hear. Now I hope he can find open receivers, You'd think with all his various OC's that he had he would have been taught this by year 7???? Doesn't matter what O you are in, you still need to make your reads, find your guy and deliver the ball on time as a QB. After 7 years maybe he finally gets it 🤣(most rooks already know this when they arrive in camp)
