Sooo for all this bitiching on our contracts we have more SB appearances and wins since 2017 then your believed SF 49ers

1. SF cleared cap....in 2017.  Tell me any Hurts lover would want the Eagles to clear cap so we could win in 2030?

2. The absolute best " clear the cap" strategy was the Eagles in 2010's " uncapped season"  They unloaded everybody and cleared all the cap, was brilliant.   Andy Reid and Joe Banner spent all kinds of money in 2011 because of that strategy.   Two rookie safeties, a rookie late round LB ( Casey Matthews) and 2 other below average LBs.

Don't ever say " if we managed the cap better, then we could have spent on LB or S."  If it could have been done in any year...2011 was it.

3.  All 32 NFL teams use a signing bonus and have cap hits increase as they go.    It absolutely makes sense because very few contracts actually run their course.   Some do... but usually you extend the player who is performing, (which absorbs the higher salary) or you release the underperforming player and save the cap space designated for the higher salary.

Any contract that runs it's full course.... then the cap hits even out at the end regardless.

4.  The Salary cap goes up each year.   Cap space in 2024 is more valuable than the same amount of cap space in 2029.

The difference between teams who manage the cap well ... is usually the timing of the contracts.   You will see it coming up with the difference in cap hits for Devonte Smith vs CeeDee Lamb... in proportion to the cash they receive.

And BTW way Penny was not used AT ALL

LMFAO right up there with one of the ALL TIME head scratchers. Maybe he was a coach just using up a roster spot. He was there for mental support:lol:

Failed evaluating what addition to last year’s squad? We struggled just to try and retain the old lost a step players on the decline in Bradbury and Slay.

Really disappointed that Edwards wasn't signed!

Your point being if we added a LB instead of losing both starting LBs? I think that’s more my point.

And we could have signed Edward’s we CHOSE TO LET HIM WALK….
Edward’s cap hit was 5m we spent what 3-4m on Morrow and Cunningham you really think we couldn’t pay the other 2m if we wanted Edward????
White cap hit was 3.2m again we could have paid that we CHOSE NOT TO….

The only point your making is we undervalue the LB spot nothing you had said means we couldn’t have paid these guys

We could have kept Edward's and White over Bradberry/Slay… didn’t have to trade for Byrd could have opted to pay garner Johnson

Johnson cap hit is 4.5m the same as Bradberry mmmmm.

But we didn’t we PAID THEM I bet you nobody in the Eagles organization had any fear whatsoever that we could pay those two guys…. Yes we can say they lost a step and we didn’t poor job evaluation and we should not have but there wasn’t any struggle

Again you keep dodging the point of we wanted to keep guys we could have we opted as a franchise not to value them but again this had ZERO to do with our contracts and the way we do them

100%  ... it's all player selection....just like the 2011 defense " built to play with a lead"   lol.

SO would you stick with Siri over Bellicheat?

Interesting question. I’m not a Siri fan after how this season ended, but Belicheck? I say yes, knowing I could be the only one here that would.

Which GMs have been afforded the freedom to not be under the gun for a couple of seasons with the pressure to produce? GMs that took on the job that wasn’t a complete disaster to begin with?

How many GMs have won a SB since 2016..  how many have taken their teams to the SB twice?

How many have had their teams make the playoffs 6 of the 7 years?

How many have done it with 2 coaches and 2 different QBs who weren't 1st round picks?

The guy in SF has the opportunity to match our guy in all those things...except playoff appearances.

The other 30 GMs haven't had that.

Why doesn't Belichek have a job... 32 teams have the opportunity to hire him.

https://www.profootballnetwork.com/cooper-dejean-draft-scouting-2024/  DeJean update. This is the best summary I found. Sounds to me like he will be a round 1 if not the top DB. Teams will love the versatility. In a pinch scenario, he can play any DB position and play them at a high level. He is an interesting dude with remarkable ability to play any DB position. His size and weight are perfect for that also. He will go in the top 20 I believe. Howie would have to trade up a little to get him. But we know Howie won't give up that kind of draft capital to get him. He would be great in our system since he could fill in anywhere we needed him to at any given time. But I can't see Howie giving up draft capital, nor taking a DB first. He just refuses to do it. With DB's needed by all teams, someone could make a reach earlier than 20. it could be  a reach that pays big dividends later. So my initial opinion was wrong. They should remove that "highlight" vid as it doesn't project nearly what he can do. As 93 stated he is a freak athlete with major skills, but he won't be an Eagle I'm afraid(love to have him however). Nice find by 123

Washington hired Kilff kingbury as OC seems all but a lock now they try and trade to get Caleb Williams #1

Such a strong QB class. Could be very interesting. How do the Bears have the QBs ranked and graded? That will be key. Is it possible they actually prefer Drake Maye? Can Chicago take Jayden Daniels at their own earned rightful pick at 9?

I see it as you have Washington at 2 and New England at 3. How can there not be a bidding war? I like Jayden Daniels. Heck I like the lefty Penix Jr that’s being ranked around our pick. Seems like I’ve been in the minority opinion with my thinking about Fields amongst this board. You guys seem to have seen things to make you think he can be a franchise guy that can take a team there(win big games).

Bears should have been grooming Stroud. Just no way you can have witnessed his rookie season and think really otherwise. Too much belief in sticking with Fields too long. Wasn’t the right pick. They trade away the pick they owned to take Stroud. That kind of bad judgement can haunt franchises big time. Think you can reason the whiff on the first pick last year by Chicago by taking the unanimous sure thing first pick in Caleb considered that for two seasons now. If he turns out a bust? Then everybody was wrong. Or you ruined him. GM not losing his job over his drafting blunders move. Pick up a windfall from the Pats moving back to third pick overall. Take Marvin Harrison. Or maybe the stud T. Then get Jayden Daniels at 9…maybe trade up a little to 6 even, having a bunch of extra ammo of picks newly gifted. If Daniels pays off….then the Bears could hit everything out of the park by adding a bunch more talent while still nailing their QB.

Think I’d even consider Daniels with the Pats pick at 3. But don’t like moving back from 1 to 3 moving from Caleb to Daniels. Only like the thought if the Bears could strike gold at 3 with a super stud at whatever position. Right now think it’s believed Alt the T or Harrison the WR.while coming back a bit later for the third best QB.

He’s from Chicago. They had the most money to spend. So think we just went ahead and bailed on getting into any bidding war with them and set sights on other targets. Beginning of FA you gotta move quick. The thinking being Chicago would have just one upped us on paying even more than they even did…if needed.

Is there anyway you believe it’s based on him not being amongst the top 32 best options as a HC?

Harbaugh got him on the San Diego job. Think if he stays at Michigan? Bellicheat gets that job. Don’t know everything that went down with the ATL job. Making a semi-educated assumption: think he viewed that job as he needs the most power with still. Falcons don’t have a ready made situation to get him to take massive steps back in concessions of power for. It’s been rumored the Cowboys and Eagles both got feelers with him (before the seasonwas even over from us supposedly). This wouldn’t be legal…so you aren’t getting rock solid confirmation ever. Odds just tell you right there he can take whichever of us rivals fails this season again. That’s not even getting into all the scenarios with the rest of the league.  Like the Chicago job….and so on.

80 days until the draft…just brutal. So much time to just club every prospect to death. But really thinking I’m a fan of this class. College ball has been delivering on a fresh rush of talent to the league. With these 2024 guys really topping it all off.

We have a game in Brazil this year…UGH!

I never been a fan of Bellicheat or his ways. But I would have dumped Siri for him in lost scenarios that didn’t involve giving up all GM power over to him. I don’t know how much more glaring and obvious things could have gotten with this team and a coach losing them. 10-1…team that just feel to a low depth of not being able to win a game. Couldn’t beat the Cards. Had to battle like crazy to get one victory in at all down the stretch over the lowly Giants. Completely stomped and run out of the stadium by Baker Mayfield with a team that was one game away from having their coach fired and team completely blown up.
Him not fixing and recognizing the issues with the O just aren’t acceptable. Can’t just blame the OC. He should have pointed out solutions himself on that side of the ball. I was embarrassed at how low a level of sophistication our O scheme and playcalling was showing. Could accept a couple games where opponents had the book on us. But never finding the adjustments and answers for all those games to finish the season? Can’t do anything with that coaching.
In my opinion I would fire Siri just for AJ and Hurts getting injured week 18. Team didn’t come to that game ready to ball at all in the first place. Just wasn’t anything really needed to gain week 18 for us. Watching that Cards game just can’t understand how anybody couldn’t see us looking like a worn out team. Wasn’t a large gains by winning the division or wild card. NFC playoffs teams were all going to be a challenge. Frankly think the Bucs were the easiest matchup to even have drawn. The answer week 18 was get the guys rest and healthy. Didn’t need a win and a Cowboys loss. Needed our players ready to play their best the best week…first week of the playoffs is all that mattered. The bye week had been so very long ago. Have our guys bodies able to recoup by getting that week off. More importantly what was needed was self scouting and answers. Instead filled out a tired team with no fight in them not ready to compete. Blown out by the Giants whom didn’t even have enough firepower to blow anybody out. That week 18 sealed everything for me. Siri didn’t have the answers. Didn’t get blown out in a meaningless game by a bad team because he was resting his starters. As bad as I’ve ever witnessed a whole team that wasn’t ready to play a game. No sense he risked AJ and QB1. Them both getting injured on that worst Meadowlands field was inexcusable.
I can’t believe we brought back the HC that just had that happen and did that! He has a very strong record to start as a HC for a younger guy and all. But I don’t even credit him for that very much anyway. He came in and started like a train wreck. Team was terrible those first six games he was in charge. Had to give things over to Steichen to right the ship. Which mostly meant just running the ball. With such an obvious team that should dominate running the ball. Stuck with that crap P all last season. Even after he suffered injury held on to him and came back to him costing us the SB. Started this season week one with Gainwell as the stud lead bell cow back. Not even just the starter. Think Swift only was given like two carries. Only reason that dumb decision was rectified was because Gainwell got injured. He was forced to turn to Swift. Swift goes off. Talent difference just shouldn’t have been even within debate and question. Swift made the Pro Bowl. That’s with the rushing game falling off the map to finish the season even. Gainwell isn’t ever making the Pro Bowl.

I’m the one that never was even viewing us as the best team. Team just was finding a way to win and overcome to get to 10-1. Wasn’t a single game I ever was thinking the team looked together and played to any levels to look for real. 11 win season was exactly at my expectations even. Just couldn’t happen the way that it actually did. Start the season 1-4. Then improve. I’d say we were the only NFC team with no chance to win. Not talking just versus the Niners. We had no chance to beat the Bucs. Green Bay…Rams…you name it. Even with my view point of the team being so much lesser than seemingly the whole rest of this boards….no way we were just short on talent to any levels to just not even be competitive. One of the worst coaching seasons I’ve witnessed in all my years watching my Eagles. Had terrible teams and such. These guys managed 11 wins under what I can’t label as anything short of incompetency.

I can't really remember. Worse than Kotite?

Yep, Philadelphians get to send millions of dollars to Brazil, NFL still makes the bucks
