I like it,alot of looks and schemes. Hurts will need to play under center more, which is something he doesn't seem to like much. Not the plain called QB runs(which failed mostly) but using Hurts running ability to scramble away which he is much better at(aka faking the handoffs). Now the question is,will Hurts run or fall down like the little girl he did this year? Under center Hurts will need to drastically improve his field of vision speed. This was an issue of regression this year. So we will find out now if Hurts has the tangibles to be a real NFL QB or if the one trick pony play persists. he will have to learn or there will be serious issues. Moore will find the best way to use him,but it's up to Hurts to progress and perform which fell off this past season vs better teams. TIme to put the college offense to bed and play big boy ball. My main fear is Hurts arm strength is nowhere near Herberts or Daks and Moore loves his pass plays. I suppose he can cut the yardage back needed to throw with Hurts due to that limitation(aka make the routes shorter so Hurts can hit them). I also hope Moore uses Goedert correctly now. He can be a terrific weapon, but not running 1 yard sideline routes where he gets trapped by the sideline and the LB's. He needs to go downfield

I decipher that to read it as Lurie & Howie are running the show. If anyone objects, F it; we'll replace you.

So in reality actually what our franchise has looked for and valued the most in coaching is the coordinators. Reich and Steichen type coordinators our organization can thrive.

Then Oline coach. Dline coach. Then I think you finally get to the priority of hierarchy for HC.

HC needs to manage the media well. He needs to maintain a squeaky clean image. He sells the good or bad concerning the organization to any and everyone.

Actually I think they value everyone. But if they're not a team player and carry out Lurie's and Howie's order they will be replaced with someone who will.

Think possibly the HC is the main channel for Rosie to bridge his top notch advanced analytic department. Convert the math world and translate it into the football world. Make the real timing decisions on those few critical calls each game. Be the very conscience of the game situational prep and readiness. Up a score driving to score don’t go out of bounds. Or down two scores in the second half maybe speeding things up and recognizing to get out of bounds. Whether with 40 seconds left on D whether to start calling timeouts to expect getting the ball back and trying to make something happen still. Just really easy to notice that evolution that has occurred in my years of football. All these players are so much more aware and ready for all these game situations and clock management. Seemed like teams used to freak out and scramble just to run a hurry up O at the end of games when needed in the eighties. The game I attended with Elway going 98 yards on the Browns with a minute left or whatever…college players even very well schooled and prepared to get a field goal drive in under a minute…all the time now. Niners leave Mahomes and AR 35 seconds just needing a field goal at the end? They are in trouble. Just like I’m sure we all felt with getting a stop by our D at the end…Hurts was going to take us the distance with a minute and change to work with. Felt it…with a certainty. Wasn’t a moment before they called the pass interference on Bradberry I thought we were sunk.

Curious since we will be running Moores offense would we look at a player like Zeke? Obviously he isn’t the below runner he was in Dallas but in a rotation with say a rookie RB…

Would definitely be a far cheaper option then my dream signing of Barkley or even resigning swift

You can’t value everyone. Always going to be prioritization. You bring in Sean Payton or Bill Bellicheck…..Harbaugh of HC near top priority.  If what can drive you is strong HC.We have things very much set up to where our FO is very involved. All departments check in with them. So need actual football guys to run things at the coordinator levels.

I don’t see everything changing with the FO here. That would be a move that’s totally against the grain of what Rosie believes in. A RB clearly on the downside of his career. You can’t think RB are the lowest position of career length and actually then after so many years make a move like for Zeke. Looking for a few last miles from a RB just because he knows the system.

Gotta have Moore do it with the next young guy. That’s the job in the NFL.

To me Saquan should be an option. Paying up for him is cheap compared to any other position.

Moore has been around enough to probably have a real good read on most of the players league wide. My thinking is hit up that second or third tier of FA RB. Real bunch of available talent this offseason. I listed off like 7 guys that are young cheap and could rise. Grab two of them. Should at least get one of them that turns out. The plan would be getting two vet young cheap RB that can split things. Then still have Gainwell to contribute to whatever. We all know he’s coaches favorite. Siri’s choice from the draft or whatever. Problem with Gainwell is it’s a new O coming in. So he doesn’t have that advantage anymore. He has to learn the new playbook like everybody else. So very possible outsiders overtake him in the new O. Whether Siri will give up on him or not is another question?

Pretty surprised Browns coach Stefanski beat out DeMeco for coach of the year. I know it was said here. But I thought DeMeco was overwhelming the guy. Just nothing in Houston. Expectations were a five win season. They were competitive at the end versus anybody in the league. Browns just been underachieving so much for the last few years. So them finally just doing something I didn’t see as big deal.

Why not do both? Swift had good numbers before the collapse and Zeke went cheap to NE. Keep Gains around also and draft a decent one

My fear is trying the west coast offense with Hurts. I don't believe he can handle that at this point. The WC offense needs superior arm strength to be really successful and that is Hurts weakest point. It will be interesting to see the balancing act that is coming. Using Goedert correctly, adding a good slot guy and maybe a TE2 will greatly enhance Hurts chances for success

https://draftwire.usatoday.com/lists/2024-nfl-draft-prospects-sleepers/ WOW they have my WR pick for us at #1. I said before he is the best SLOT WR in this draft. We need to add him. I find Zintner from MIchigan also a capable good choice to try for the RG spot

Cade Stover -OSU=TE2. get it done Howie

5. Braelon Allen, RB, Wisconsin

USATSI_21334908.jpg

At only 20 years old Braelon Allen has the added benefit of entering the draft without much tread on the tires and a solid decade of play ahead of him, which is a bit of a novelty for the position.

Allen is still a bit raw but has all the physical tools you could ask for a workhorse back. Allen will need to be coached up a bit as a pass catcher, but his physical skillset and the potential he possesses could see him be one of the higher-ranked backs in the process.

Like him but feel he will go higher than Howie would. So the search continues

https://mutigers.com/sports/football/roster/cody-schrader/17008 I like this kid ALOT Not the best RB,but a late 4th to mid 5th pick which I believe would be in Howies range. Once again, not a basher, but Howie seems to be avoiding those anyhow. I have a tough time reading Howie on RB's. Not really a personal choice due to "cloning" but a Howie choice and that's what I try to find, putting my personal choices on the back burner. The extra year in school could drop him farther down. I don't expect him to start. Maybe after a year of coaching he could find a home in rotation

Agree... Blount and Sproles were in their primes when we got them.  No shot at getting a cheap vet like Zeke to be part of a cheap committee.

Why does the cheap guy need to be young?

The divisions were just a little different. AFC North slightly better than the South... or maybe more than slightly.... and he lost Chubb very early... and how many QBs did they use?    No doubt Ryan's did a great job...  also no doubt the 2023 Houston team was way more talented than 2022.  Still an awful division.

Like idk Blount???? He was on the downside of his career as well granted he gave us a power RB to for our O… but could argue Elliott gives the same thing
