Tell me how "taking it upon himself to help Johnny"(we have coaches and other WR's for that) and working with teammates(which every Q has done since there was organized football) makes him a better decision maker and gives him better field vision. I'll wait. Of course we never can get an answer out of you without 14 pages of diversions

So how is he supposed to do what you want him to accomplish? Or more to the point who’s job is it to?

Sounds to me like you’d prefer him to receive better coaching in a better scheme.

He has, like most QB's physical limitations. He has tools to overcome them or make them not as glaring. Example-he is short in stature. it makes it more challenging for him to see the middle of the field. He is a gifted runner. Use that tool to move into a clear passing lane, not panic run for the sidelines every time pressure comes. Teams know he will run and not throw once they get him on the move. If he offers passing when pressured like that he becomes less predictable and harder to pressure. It's an additional skill in his tool box. he can run drills offered by coaches(team or private ones) that will make him do more reads faster. Last year was just awful for his development for a variety of reasons, yet he should have been working on those things anyway. His deep ball is improving, there will be a point where he cannot throw any farther. All QB's have limits(Favre threw for 74 in the air at the QB competition). We can't expect that from Jalen, but Jalen would run circles around Favre. Perhaps he can be assisted with his middle of the field vision by the coaching staff extending plays in the middle further downfield. he has issues seeing those 5 yard breaking patterns because of the presence of huge linemen in his field of vision. Extending those break to say 8 yard not 5 would give him the chance to move in the pocket to see the open lane. There are many small things he can do. Run a QB drill where he has 6 seconds to hit 5 sleds, then 5 seconds, then 5 seconds being rushed. baby steps will get you there but he needs to take them

Commentators in multiple games repeated the comment of our O was going to be Hurts avoiding the rush and then resetting to throw downfield. They weren’t sure the exact playcall….but this was so predictably happening.

You get 5 guys kneeling next to him for that drill I mentioned, tossing balls into him one after the other. See if he can get 5 passes out and hit 5 sleds in 6 seconds to start with, then you just keep adding more things until you have a guy that can burn you every down

You know pretty much the opposite of what you’re saying. Not just me…..it was exactly our ‘O Scheme.” Multiple tv commentators said this about what our O was about to do.

Except he didn't reset enough,he took off for the sideline or dumped off that 1 yarder to Goedert (also trapped on the sideline)

Try viewing the pass chart for Hurts and you will see a miniscule amount of middle of the field passing. He's not using 25% of the field

But I definitely have been onboard the thinking of quick passing scheme. Sounds like watch Coach Doug started OTAs having him get repetitions.

That's 100 yards of grass between the hash marks that teams don't need to defend until he proves them wrong

He chucked it downfield usually for big plays. But yeah…then imagine this? Pro D minds adapted accordingly.

In Hurts defense Goedert was totally misused as an outlet for him, thats a great quick target he was denied last year

First that should come from the Slot WR. Do you think he’s just been underutilizing our third WRs?

Guess he’s just been throwing to AJ and Devonta mostly?

First year with Hurts as a starter he had 830 yards. Second year 700. Third year less than 600.

In HS(seriously) our coach bought a whack- a- mole game and made us all do it.....repeatedly. it really helped us with reaction times, helped the D with getting arm speed up,the QB's to get the elbows moving faster. It was fun and a lesson all in one. They have a ping pong table. This should be used as a training tool not just in the break room. You get better...slowly,you don't notice it,but it you take a before and after the difference can be stunning. Coach would also borrow the pitching machine and would shoot tennis balls at us from 70-80 degrees. After you get hit in the side of the head a few times, you learn how to use peripheral vision LOL. He was an awesome coach, too bad he didn't go pro

Quez had speed,he wasn't a particularly good route runner. I am anxious to see what paris has. As I watched Ainias,I saw that "shifty quick" that JJ had. Although he isn't near JJ's talent level he had those attributes. Slot can give you a split 1/2 second, but thats a window Hurts needs to see

TBH I can't say if the coaching staff had enough confidence in Quez to call plays for him. I hope that changes now,or that on given plays the slot would be the 2 read not the 3/4 read. I believe Moore can help with this

yeah deep downfields, thats what they are best at. Hurts has the confidence with them, but at times they run farther than he can throw LOL,so he needs to get that release away before they outrun his arm

This is why teams will try to get Hurts to "stall" on decisions. He knows he can't throw 60 air yards (that is not a knock that is reality),the outside WR's can literally run themselves out of the play. In essence if Hurts waits too long they take themselves out of the play. You don't even need CB's

"Reads 1/2 too far away or covered, read 3- Goedert, read 4-slot, those are covered and I am out of here". This is the progression we need to see in under 5 seconds. If there is a window the ball needs to be gone in 2.5. You could also add read 5 here with Bark. if he sees Hurts in trouble he can find a way to offer a window,it not THEN Hurts should run his butt off because everyone is already downfield lol

Of course this all varies by the play called, but it's an example

Goedert very effective in the middle of the field and he is the BIG target Hurts can see. That's why Goedert was misused last year. He not effective on 1 yard sideline passes. The OC failed to understand the sideline is an additional defender. I don't see Moore making this mistake

Well during that span we got AJ and Smith and they took away target share. There is only 1 ball and so many targets per game. There should be one guy that shines every game and they need to understand this may not be your game for that. I would like to see more production from the slot. Does't need to be huge yardage, just move the chains on those clutch downs. The Bucs D has our number and we need to have other things to show them(if that time comes again). I want Ainias to become the Edelman/Amendola with an occasional 'take it to the house"

I'm looking for a fun, hard fought game vs the Pack. This team should be far more exciting to watch and IDK if the Pack will be ready for us. I'm looking for a win. Probably not the 31 I wish for per game(AVERAGE). But a solid 27 should work if our defense is ready to roll. 27-21 Birds
