The next play Hurts takes a bad sack to waste the 2nd time out and basically put the possibility of a TD out of reach, because with 1 timeout and 2nd and 16, we needed 16 yards and out of bounds to save the last time out. If Hurts throws the ball away, 2nd and 10 allows for more plays and the ability to call timeout with having one left. That was the type of play Brady made, dump the ball off, let your guy do the work, and then the next play throw it away to save the ability to get a TD. We also had a chance to put the game away... 3 bad decisions in a row by Hurts. 1. Keeping the ball on a read option. 2. almost throwing a pick 6 across the field. Then the dumb INT in the end zone trying to throw across his body. A lot of QB play is just avoiding the stupid... stupid decisions. that stuff is what I want to see from Hurts. It's year 5, that's basic QB stuff right there, not franchise level QB stuff. Wow, he made a couple of throws... in these league that's a minimum requirement. The offense is stacked with weapons... hopefully not wasted. As the announcer said... a bunch of stacked weapons and Hurts. He is the weak link in my view

September 8, 20242 yr If Rodger’s comes out and makes that exact throw we aren’t going to be sitting hear saying oh well it’s his first snap of real O in over a year. No it’s a bad Fing read and throw

Decisions making already his weakness... no excuse for that. What are you even talking about? You didn’t want the O playing any all PS. Only had one joint practice. Our QB had never even been hit until this first game. Had the ball standing in the end zone for the first live football where somebody could touch him. Not sure who it was blocking in the middle on that first interception but he went back under the bull ride way too fast. Think it was Jurgens. He also had that early unaware snap that will be chalked up under Hurts stats as a fumble. Later in the game a snap exchange problem also. Jurgens also made some good double blocks and reached the second level lovely on some plays also. Bit of a mixed bag from Jurgens. But I can’t crucify the guy since they just came out trial by fire right learning in a real game week one. I assume they’ll sort that out.

Watches film EVERY day. Gets coached EVERY day. Let’s go Hurts. TD passes were money. Decision making…get that RIGHT! New O scheme and playcalls. I can’t believe anybody would expect him to have that all down like he’s been running this totally different O for several years. Completely different than anything in college or the pros he’s been exposed to. But how can you hold out leader on the hook for his first couple plays of the season…knowing he’s had the protective jersey on only all PS? Nobody has been allowed to touch him. No PS even series of two. You’ve been watching this game way too long…you know better. He gets bullrushed right up the gut and hit as he’s throwing on a slippery field. Like second play of the season. Every O player admitted to changing up cleats after the second series. We weren’t quite ready to play football from the opening whistle. But how can this be a surprise? The whole plan was trade off the O being more ready and crisp for starting the season healthy.

Looks to me like the progress stopped and he has peaked unless he shows me something soon He’s learning a completely different O scheme. Hasn’t had the protective QB red jersey off until he gets the ball backed up at his own endzone first time he steps on the field. What does the money factor into any of it? He’s getting paid starter money. That’s the rate. Several QBs making around his figures. Irrelevant talking about money and contract…unless you are trying to go backwards to your old sentiment of Hurts isn’t a starting level QB.

September 8, 20242 yr That’s a mental part of the game him missing a throw but little off ok that rust he hasn’t played…. Him making a read and decision to throw into triple coverage that just bad not oh it’s his 2nd snap their is no excuse to make a pass into triple coverage as a 5th year vet

Throwing the ball is not a SCHEME,it's the MENTAL part of the game we have been harping on for 2 years now. We know he has physical ability, but bad decisions should be in his rear view mirror by now. he got engaged and that wedding planning has him all aloof and senseless. I hope his future wife has a solid job(maybe at Jared)

I thought 31 PPG was impossible for you??? So now it's possible????? He was lucky the GB D wasn't that great either. Bark scored 14 of those 34 points dude.and 7 more was Hurts to Bark. So take that 14 away and we LOSE!!!! That scrub Gainwell also made some plays(should have been cut for LB5)
September 8, 20242 yr Author BTW it's not hate,it's taking off the blinders and seeing the QB's weaknesses. If he was a rook making those mistakes,ok then, maybe even year 2,but not 5. We're paying him a boatload of money to be a solid QB and his mental game is not there. Take off your damn blinders and BURN THEM

You need "contact" before you can make a throw? What did he do in camp?. I throw the ball to my grandson without contact all the time. Pitch and catch, happens in backyards all across America with no contact and I assume in Brazil too. Nice spin though. If my washer ever quits I can send you my laundry

The same guy who they all bragged about not throwing a pick all preseason. The same guy who they said was mentally sharp. The decisions on both INTs..weren;t even as bad as the one to throw it before the 2nd INT. Every keeper on the read option was a bad decision Decisions are the brain's function. He is a 5th year QB now. Mentally, he needs to play like one .... but he can run.
September 8, 20242 yr The excuses for this guy are ridiculous. He has all the tools this year... now excuses. Best supporting cast in franchise history on the offensive side of the ball.... if he can simply manage a game and make a couple of throws... without any idiot mistakes... the offense will have elite level success.

Other than Ham... what do you think if they polled the coaches, the media and everyone who knows football and watched the game.... what percentage would you think would give our WB a higher grade than our LBs? Maybe 10%? Think about that.... our LBs played better than our QB.

As we stated ... the only leftover from 2023... was the QB needing to prove himself and stop turning the ball over. The poor decision making continued... only game one, so if he admits to himself his issues... then he can turn it around. We can absolutely win some games without him playing well.. but it will be tough to win with him making bad decisions. Definitely lucky Friday night.
