This argument has been debunked many times. Dickerson did it in 2 more games than OJ but no one called that worthless.

I think Dickerson's is forgotten and worthless too.  I'm sure all those LA Rams fans really take pride in that one.

Go get a superbowl.  Football isn't a stat heavy sport.  Baseball celebrates records.

It's fair to say you don't value the individual record over the chance at SB, but diminishing the achievement as "worthless" is bad logic.

He literally can't play this week because of concussion protocol, so that argument is moot (regarding Hurts).

Why? Just because he’s in the protocol today doesn’t mean he will be Sunday.

But he didn't. And now we are here. With risks to mitigate.  So the team wisely has chosen to mitigate those risks to be at their absolutely strongest to start the playoffs.

And there was a chance he doesn't get injured in the last game 🤷‍♂️

I never said the achievement is worthless.  I said the rushing title is worthless.

Barkley's 2024 regular season is already done and it was an absolutely incredible achievement, on par with any of the best RB seasons of all time.  Inflating his stats in a 17th game against a team trying to lose is chasing a worthless statistic and title and does nothing to enhance what he has already achieved this year.  If he rushes for 110 yards on Sunday, his numbers will change and his achievement will not.  It would just be playing with numbers.  Strahan's Favre sack.

Seeing Giants fans melt down Sunday if they win and fall to like 7 with their pick would be worth the game meaning nothing. But I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Eagles backups win, because it is Tanner Time after all.

Ok. I don't know all the rules of that, just that Siri said he's still in the protocol. I thought that meant he can't play.

Stats are everything. How else does one get into the hall?

Maybe they’ll let Ian Book cook

Packers secondary definitely been missing him

Bucs it is in round 2

About to write his chapter in giants/eagles rivalry.

No, just that he’s currently in the protocol. Which makes sense anyway because he clearly wasn't cleared last Sunday and Sirianni said he was giving the players Monday and Tuesday off.

So let's go beat the Bucs in round 2.

Don’t forget Hurts has a broken finger too. He’ll have 3 more weeks to let that thing heal more before the playoffs. It didn’t look to be a huge deal to him, but I think it was a factor in one of his fumbles, so it’s not just the concussion he’s dealing with. He played some vs Washington, it’s only two weeks off he’ll be fine in terms of rust. Whether or not he’s willing to pull the trigger on throws is another story, but that will always be a game to game thing for him.

Funny part is... there's a champion every year.   No one has broken this record in 40 years.

So you want to prioritize the record over the SB victory?

Also, last time I counted the Eagles had won exactly one championship after 1960.

So he won’t clear protocol for this week either? Then we have some bigger concerns doesn’t often take a player this long to pass protocol, dude was literally on the sideline with his helmet ready to return to the game at one point, now he is still not ready to be cleared?

Will be interesting to see what kind of lineup the Eagles work with Sunday.  In preseason, you've got an expanded roster of scrubs to play.

You've got 48 players active...2 of which will be practice squad call ups on Sunday.

What's the lineup?

QB: Pickett/Mckee
WR: Dotson/Wilson/Smith
RB: Shipley.  Gainwell may have to play a bit.
TE: Uzomah/Jenkins (Calcaterra probably gets protected)
LT: Johnson
LG: Keegan
OC: Gates
RG: Steen
RT: Driscoll

Edge1: Huff (yup, needs snaps
Edge2: Hunt
DT: Booker
DT: Ojomo
LB: Trotter
LB: Burks
CB1: Rodgers
CB2: Ringo
CB3: Maddox
S: Brown
S: Mccollum

The PS elevations should probably be a pair of DL.  That's where you need to rotate and you don't want to have to put one of our main edge or DT on the field if someone gets dinged.  Every other position still has other guys you can throw out there if need be.

NFL deserves to have as many teams mailing it in for week 17 as possible.

OK let's be real, who TF cares about Eric Dickerson in 2024? He's a name on a screen every time a RB gets 2000 yards.

They don't talk about how cool he was. The Hall of Fame career he had. They really don't even bother showing his highlights when they talk about the record. Nope, just a name on a screen.

Nobody cares about Terrell Davis or Jamal Lewis or Chris Johnson either. We all know Saquon is better than those 3, everyone knows.

So would you rather be the engine that powers potentially multiple Super Bowls? Or just a name on a screen in 40 years?

Though teams were doing that when it was 16 weeks too

You know what would eliminate a lot meaningless Week 18 games as well as probably push the Eagles to play starters and let Barkley get the record?

Playoff seeding based off wins.

This is the most confusing post I’ve read in quite some time.  Terrell Davis actually WAS the engine that powered multiple Super Bowls — but nobody cares about him — while Barry Sanders never accomplished squat in the playoffs — yet he’s a legend ….. ???

And now it is 100% that he won't get injured in it.
