Lester Hayes?

A good guess. I don’t know the answer, but I’d add Rodney Harrison, Jack Tatum, Andre Waters, Night Train Lane, and Ronnie Lott to the list of possibles.

The fact that the Vikings are currently in the way of us getting a #1 seed is driving me crazy.  I haven't thought about them as a threat even once this entire season, yet they just keep winning games.  I consider them the worst 12-2 team I've ever seen, and I predict they will falter at least once in the next 3 weeks.

Truly elite coaching job from them. They've got one true star on the whole team and are starting a backup QB. Starting a big time defense full of mid tier free agents and castoffs playing out of their minds.

They'll get overwhelmed eventually, but kudos to them.

Them along with Detroit will most likely get their coaching staffs plucked in the offseason.  I'm especially interested to see Detroit next year without Ben Johnson.  I could see them coming way back down to earth if they don't have the right playcaller.

We'll see. Ben Johnson has shown to be picky and Brian Flores landmined his path out of Miami. MIN's OC I'd imagine will definitely be gone.

(edit) I just can't tell (from a quick look online).  I recall seeing NFL Film vids of the player I'm referencing just giving this shoulder shiv to ball carriers and wrecking them.

Hayes was a Raider back when they were the epitome of hard nosed players (often dirty).  I do remember liking the Raiders in the '70s, when it was ok to like a team other than the Eagles because the Birds ****s.

I take the data from https://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/, then sort out the coaches from before the SB era and less than 50 games.

I did something similar.  The Tweet that showed the rankings a week or so ago was inconsistent in how it handled ties.  For me, a tie is a full game played and half a win.

Richardson stinks as a QB as does Milroe. Milroe was already benched once and if he was coming out why would he play in the meaningless bowl game.

Hurts was benched at Alabama too.

I know the NFL sample size isn't huge, but Jim Harbaugh is definitely an all-timer. Think he'll be discussed in the Belichick/Andy tier if he can get a Super Bowl or 2.

Was a shocker to me he wasn't the #1 choice of every team every year he wasn't in the league since SF. The easiest to project coach since Andy - who similarly didn't have the interest you'd expect. And yet, guys like Joe Judge somehow get hired.

Yup...there was a great old VHS called Crunch Course. I believe I got it from a subscription to Sports Illustrated. It showed footage and documentation of the violence of the sport...great quotes from Butkus

Hurts' worst year statistically at Bama (as a starter, obviously) is right up there with Milroe's best. Hurts had a season of big time passing production at Oklahoma, Milroe hasn't gotten close. It's a wild comparison imo.

And rightfully so.  His passing attack in that game looked eerily similar to his passing attack in this offense most of the time, last week excluded.

Richardson should have sat for a year, minimum. The rush to play QBs that aren't ready is bananas. He may still have been a bust, but letting him sit and learn behind a vet was the right move.

Personally, I wasn't a fan of his because of the intangibles and mental make-up. It's the same reason I've never been high on Caleb -- I don't think he'll put in the hard work to transition his game to the NFL. These guys can't just get back with physical dominance like they could in college.

But if you're going to take someone like Richardson, you sign a great vet to mentor him.

After his benching. Dude is a mental midget especially after checking himself out after 1 run

Richardson has completed 50% of his passes in the four games he’s started since he was benched, throwing three touchdowns, four interceptions, an average of 181.3 yards per game, a paltry 6.04 yards per attempt and a quarterback rating of 63.4, a number that would rank him last among the 31 qualified quarterbacks in the NFL this season.

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not but he'll never be in that discussion with Belichick and Reid.

He's only coached 5 seasons and he's already 60 years old. He has a ways to go before he matches McVay let alone Reid or Belichick.

The only coach that has won in college and the NFL. From San Diego St to the Chargers all the man does is win.

He is as good as those guys even if doesn't have the stats. His track record proves it.

lolwut?

You never heard of Jimmy Johnson, Barry Switzer, or Pete Carroll?

All 3 have better overall resumes than Harbaugh.

He's definitely proven to be successful at every level, but he's got a loooooong way to go to catch either of those guys.  Either way, I agree he's a really good coach, even if he does drink milk with his steak.

Ya that's a crazy take. Sustained success at the NFL level is much harder than it seems like. Plenty of flash in the pan coaches have flamed out after failing to adapt to the changes to the game over long periods of time. Even Gibbs really struggled to string together wins in his second stint with the skins. Reid and Belichick have sustained success over a much, much, much longer period of time than Harbaugh. 25 years vs 5 years is a joke of a comparison.

Sorry to say, this is not correct. Jimmy Johnson won National Championships (2) at Miami, and Super Bowls (2) in Dallas.

Maybe it's because I have a headache but wouldn't dropped passes impact completion percentages the most? That's literally part of the percent

Also why would passes when the QB is hit be excluded?

I think Sam Darnold just finally has a decent team around him.
