EMB Blog: 2024 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

Didn’t AJ Brown miss both of those Bucs games (last year and early this year)?  I think we were missing half of our oline in this year’s game too.

If Bucs come to Philly in the playoffs, eagles win by 2+ scores.  If there is one team they would be super motivated to face, it should be them

I am not worried about the Eagles scoring against them, I am worried about the Bucs somehow figuring out how to light up the defense, they figured out how to light up the Chargers defense despite the Chargers having the best scoring defense up until that game (now they're tied with us as a result).

Defense is worlds better since the bye too.  I’d love to see the Bucs.  I’d relish it

I thought it was kind of an odd story.  Why would Big Dom go to Hurts house to talk to him about connecting with teammates?

Is Big Dom a therapist now too?

Missed two of the three. They played in the regular season and AJ had 9 for 131 and they won 25-11

Take it to cvon!

Makes you feel really confident in Kyler Murray

Just rewatched the ten-minute, twenty-nine-second drive again. What a thing of beauty.

ESPN did a simulation for the rest of the season all the way to the SB.  Had the Eagles losing to Washington this week and Dallas the following week but beat NYG in week 18.  Had the Eagles losing to Detroit in the NFCCG and Buffalo beating Detroit in the SB.

I can possibly, maybe see them losing to Washington.  I don't see them losing to Dallas or NYG.

Disagreement.   The Sky Hook is far more difficult... which is why even to this day, no one has ever mastered it the way Kareem did.

That's why you have so many "3 and D" players across the NBA.  Which I find hilarious, because they aren't really "3 and D"... "D" in the NBA is much more of an idea than a reality.   And when I watch the NBA, most of the 3s are taken with no one really in the face of the shooter these days.  And its often thrown out to a guy who's just standing there waiting for the ball to be passed to him for a spot up 3.

But hey... if the current NBA product is so great, you'd have to ask why the ratings are so far down... and why they had to create a hokey in-season tournament in order to try to build up artificial interest in a game in the middle of November.  🤔  Something there doesn't seem to add up, does it?

Hitting a basket from 23-24 feet away is more difficult than hitting a basket from 5-10 feet away.  (Obviously not counting specialty shots, etc).  That’s why a 3 point shot counts for 3 points and shots within the perimeter count for 2 points.  That’s not going to change.

As far as issues with the NBA, I don’t necessarily disagree the NBA has issues but the 3 point shot is not one of them, imo.

Devonta Smith was also out.

Starting 2 wideouts were Dotson & Campbell

Pretty sure ESPN’s FPI Index still has the Cowboys winning the Super Bowl.

Making the AP team is how you become known.  It’s not as much of a popularity contest…that what the Probowl is for

Agreed, but it’s like a weird delayed reaction… unless you’re an offensive skill player or pass rusher, it’s all reputation. Even for All Pro they’ll give the nod to Lee established players.

Better than Roquon?

Yes.

I haven’t seen an off ball LB be so complete this season. Baun is lights out in coverage as an ILB, a wall against the run, can sack the passer, produces TFLs and PDFs, and can lineup anywhere in the box other than DT.

Maybe he plays as well next year, maybe he doesn’t, but THIS YEAR he’s the best LB in the league and I don’t think it’s particularly close.

Our defense is not going to get "lit up.”

If some offense figures out how to score 24 good on them because that’s about as good as it’s ever going to get.

Pretty simple really.  Nobody wants to watch an endless amount of long shots and nothing else.

Not if the shorter shot includes you being on the full run and with a 7ft guy rushing out to block the shot.

Your view on this topic seems very biased.  Wouldn't a nice balance between some long range bombs together with shifty drives and strong post ups be optimal?

For football, 35 is actually not that bad.

the temperature isn't what gets ya, it's whether there's wind and how strong it is.

35 with no wind isn't cold at all.

my favorite interception of all time. Seen a few of these over the years and they’re the most impressive IMO

And as in my example of changing the number of points for field goals from further away, they are also harder... and fantasy football also offers more points for long kicks than for short ones.  Maybe the NFL should change the field goal rules too!

The 3 point shot fundamentally changed the game and the game is on the decline now that the analytics have made it the preferred shot.

I wonder when the 4 point shot will be introduced to "improve" the game even more.
