Bonus Calcaterra TD.

Double bonus: Chicago loses.

So based on Cameron Williams being added to the roster, I'm thinking this is how we line up. Basically pre-season game 3.

QB: McKee

RB: Dillon, Shipley, Bigsby (I wouldn't play Bigsby at all, hopefully he only gets a couple snaps)

WR: Dotson, Cooper, Covey

TE: Calcaterra, Granson, Latu (FB)

OL: Williams, Toth, Kendall, Pryor, F. Johnson

Edge: Uche, Campbell, Hunt, Smith (not enough depth here to sit anyone completely other than Phillips, and I believe P. Johnson is out of PS elevations)

DT: Ty Robinson, Gabe Hall (PS elevation), Byron Young, Moro Ojomo

LB: Mondon and Trotter Jr.

CB: Bennett, Ringo

NCB: McWilliams

S: Brown and Carter

This is an excellent plan. My only preference would be to save NSmith and use BG instead. Also, I’m ok with Tank getting some work. He’s totally fresh. Say 6-8 carries and a pass block or two.

It's a much more powerful take if you are walking and talking holding a selfie stick.

I think they give the old man the day off, but wouldn't be opposed to BG taking a couple snaps. I expect Uche to play damn near every snap.

Ok....paywall but I'm curious who that was

Maybe so but I’d feel better with Nolan protected. Max 10 snaps from BG would do.

Who is the evil twin to the actual Eagles PS player Chance Campbell.

The picture is EJ Jenkins. If EJ Jenkins is been that good and they keep trotting out Calcaterra, I can't say I'd be surprised, but I would be frusrated.

But, since it's Saquon saying this, it has to be a defensive player.

This is incredible

TE is the biggest need in the draft. I also wonder if the Eagles consider signing Likely in FA. He's a better blocker than Goedert and is a comptetent receiving TE. Re-signing Goedert or Calcaterra would be a mistake.

If Phillips is not back, I think edge rusher is hands down the biggest need. RT and WR will probably be a bigger need than TE as well.

I don’t know why everyone is so against bringing back Goedert. He’s a redzone machine and doesn’t get many looks otherwise. I can’t imagine we find someone to match his value and is also cheaper. Hurts clearly loves him as well.

His highlight tape when we signed him made him look like Kuechly. Maybe he really is Kuechly!

Nah, we always get stuck with the busted sister

The one thing I’m curious about is if they put Smith out there for a drive or two and try to get him his 1,000 yards. He’s only about 40 away and they have done it in the past with him, although I believe that was to set the rookie record.

Opening play, go deep. If he gets it, great. If not, take him out.

If the Eagles don't get there, then from the NFC I'll root for the Bears or Seahawks. AFC will be Jags or Texans for me.

My view is that Goedert's cost is going to outweigh his utility. He has dealt with repeated injuries. He has declined sharply as a blocker. I would be fine keeping him at a lower cost but I thin a younger player with similar skill is a better investment. Likely seems like the type of player that you could sign on a one year type prove it deal that is maybe more expensive than a lower end UFA. If the question was whether you could keep Goedert or re-sign Phillips, the team should keep Phillips. I think keeping Reed is a higher priority than Goedert. As for Edge rusher, I don't I think OL is the top priority regardless of whether they keep Phillips. I can see an argument for taking Edge over OL in the first round. I also don't think TE is going to be a first round position. I just think it's likely going to be a pick by the third round and likely should be a position where they make multiple picks.

I understand Goedert isn’t what he was 3 years ago but he was never great, just a good solid, all-around player. I can’t imagine the price tag for keeping him another year hinders filling holes at other positions. I also don’t see a scenario where there’s a draft pick or FA that costs less and equals his production.

I think he’ll have one more season of above average TE play at a very reasonable price.

Then you can draft a guy late 2, early day 3 and hope he’s ready to be the guy in 2027. Easier said than done but that’s my train of thought.

I would hope not but who knows.

DG has some dead money too so Howie has to decide when he wants to eat that. Think he has played well and could return on a team-friendly deal. We need to draft his replacement either way.

The issue with Goedert may end up being length of contract and quantum of guaranteed money. He took a reduced 1 year deal this offseason, but I have to think he's going to be looking for a longer term deal where more than just the first year is guaranteed. Given our commitments on offense, and the need to start spending on defensive pillars (Carter, Davis, Phillips this offseason, Q and Coop next), committing to DG for multiple years doesn't make any sense.

At the very least, I have to think DG let's his contract expire and explores FA, and that crystallizes the $20mm hit on the 2026 cap. Maybe he strikes out in FA and comes back for another 1 year deal, but have to think someone out there will offer him more.
