Dean has actually made a lot of plays in coverage, last year and this year. Seems he has a stigma attached to him from some early career receptions allowed but hes not really a bad liability in coverage anymore.

Hes gotten better. There isnt a stigma though. Hes schemed to limit his coverage abilities.

The Dean convo reached a depth that wasn’t needed. My bad…he’s been great when on the field but in the salary cap era and other needs with Campbell in the wings he’s not near the top of the must sign list IMO unless you move on from Baun. The combo of Dean/campbell long term is enticing.

Yup. Bringing Dean back, with Campbell right there, while letting Blank go with no one there to take over is the issue. I'd love to keep both... but the reality is that they likely can't, so you have to choose one... and I think Blank is the one that's harder to replace based on our current roster construction, not because he's a better player.

That's game. IU blowing out Alabama.

Would love to see Ole Miss pull off an upset later.

Add into this that Campbell has shown he can not play edge as his primary position. Which honestly was a ridiculous notion from the start.

Me watching IU taking BTA on Alabama:

Our D hits its stride when the DL figured out how to pressure.

In all reality they’ve been carrying the horrid offense all year. Early in the season they got unneeded flak because adore got toasted a few times and they weren’t completely dominant.

They figured out how to pressure when he returned. He is impactful. More so than Campbell this year. Smart, so fast to the ball and QB, tough (neither Baun nor Campbell blow up a back on the blitz like he does). He makes a difference when he plays and keeps the D on schedule. There is a reason Vic immediately inserted him as a starter as soon as he was ready to go. Vic knows.

I think Oregon can beat Indiana.

Why everytime the camera goes to Deboer he has that same stupid look on his face? Like he's trying to hold in a deuce.

Bc cambell hit the rookie wall and Dean had years of development already. Dean is at his ceiling and not worth the cap space/opportunity cost. Thanks for Things, but ill take the comp pick

Could see a 3-4 team like pitt or balt signing him.

Maybe. IU already beat Oregon this year though... in Oregon.

Why is AJ Hawk’s head so gigantic??

Watching the Oregon OL mostly. Skycast helps

@just relax thoughts on Pregnon and World?

Pregnon is probably ready to play G. Word is strictly a T and needs a couple of years. Pregnon goes Day 1; World goes Day 3. My likelihood of being right is minimal.

I think that game earlier in the year will provide some inspiration for Oregon. They'll be looking for some payback.

Indiana is a great team for sure.

I thought he was injured?

They seem like a team of destiny.

Maybe, but he sure didn't seem happy about being pulled, so I'm thinking it only was partly related to the injury. He came back after the hit and fumble... and even started the second half.

I wonder what it is with the DL and slow starts. It was the same last year as well. We heard about how Fangio likes using games up front, and we couldnt generate pressure without a blitz. Then all of a sudden numerous guys are rushing at career pace.

This year starts, and the game guys that were amazing last year werent doing it. Now they have started.

That may be. It also helps that they actually have the option of platooning him with Campbell if they want to. But theres been times that Dean has run stride for stride with really fast RBs down field on wheel routes. Youd never expect him to be in position like he has been, especially after his injury last year. Just as well, hes covered the flats extremely well too. I cant recall a team being able to single him out and take advantage and its not as though they havent tried.

Not sure I ever saw an OL get MVP of a game. That's awesome!

I think this year the DL really began hitting its stride once Phillips got here. He’s been a big addition. He really helps solidify the unit. They felt like they were one guy away from being complete. . I’d add Jordan Davis has really arrived since Carter went down. Was good prior to it but Carter got hurt and Davis began playing even better. Credit to him for stepping up when we needed him the most.
