Kinda how I feel, though I'm not really sure what could have been done midseason. I'd have given play calling duty to Loefler, but I think the organization had PTSD from the Desai to Patricia change in 2023. What was obvious was the players on offense didn't believe in the coaching, scheme and play calling later in the year. We saw the same thing with the defense in 2023. When players lose confidence in the coaches having answers, you're drawing dead.

Agreed. I said last night after all the talk about this season being a repeat of 2023 youd think more fans would understand how those coordinator changes added to the cratering of that team mid-season. I dont blame Siri for not firing Patullo mid-season. And I bet there were some changes in responsibility behind the scenes. Our opening drive looked pretty damn good last night and for a few weeks now. Whoever did that was not what Patullo was running for the rest of the game.

If Kingsbury gets Ravens job, McDaniels get a HC gig as does Stefanski and Monken follows Harbaugh then who is your top choice?

Not sure about top choice but I'd at least interview Kafka or McCown.

They need to have some serious internal review and reflection. Siri is not an offensive mind, he doesn't have a scheme and playbook to implement, he needs a coordinator to do that. He didn't call plays before here, he worked under Head Coaches that called plays and he had Philip Rivers and Andrew Luck. If he had anything to offer to the offense, where was it in any season since Steichen left? I don't mind a CEO Head Coach but then you simply cannot hire an OC who has never called plays. So the HC and OC both lacked play calling experience. Terrible decision for a "CEO." CEO's get fired to such decisions, no that won't happen here though.

He can stay big picture, overall game management and prep through the week and focus on other strengths in leading the team. But has to hand the offense to someone and let him run it. And that someone has to have control, push back on the conservative style while also maintaining a strong focus on the turnover ratio which Siri is obsessed with. Just find balance in being efficient but taking risks at the right time.

Think about this: they have to get younger and cheaper on offense. Who is going to coach these young guys up and teach scheme to them?

Whenever there is a next Head Coach hire in the future, Lurie is going to want someone that has a scheme and has play calling experience that can absorb a rotation at OC if they continue to leave.

Here's a question:

List the current starters on offense that you would NOT cut RIGHT NOW if you magically could for a completely magically free $0 cap hit. Complete and total cap savings of whatever their contract is for the length of the contract.

I want to see everyone's list.

So if Hurts is that awful and the teammates and coaches think he stinks why did they sign him to that contract?

How much would your balls feel kicked if we get news soon that Fangio and/or Stoutland are retiring?

I'm honestly a bit down on Stoutland. It's going to suck when he's gone, but the sting would be a lot less after this year then say last year.

Mike Kafka?

I'd be fine with that but I'm not sure he qualifies as a proven offensive mind

After watching that 4th down interaction... I was thinking about Nick Foles and HIS philly special call. He knew what he wanted to do, not just a bunch of blank stares.

Yep. Hurts has gotten so much backlash from media and naysayers alike he seems to have lost confidence in himself - EVEN AFTER winning the Lombardi.

Next time around - Hurts needs to take the bull by the horns and call (or audible into a play) he knows will get it done - not something given to him by others who want to "think for him" or "think they know what's best for him" - especially when it's clear as day the people giving him instruction have no idea what they're doing.

Mailata

Dickerson (I'd like to see if he can rebound)

Steen (he's fine and cheap)

Lane

Barkley

DeVonta

I'd cut Hurts if we could just rip up the contract with no cap hit and start over. I don't dislike him, but if I can get out of that contract scott-free, sure.

Jurgens, again -- I'd move on if we could for free

AJ, same

Kafka is interviewing in AZ for the HC job. He might not get it but it's indicative of how things might take 2 weeks to play out. All the top names and beyond are still in the mix for HC jobs

I assume you mean cut or trade…

Mailata

Smitty

Lane

Dickerson (if he’s not done physically)

Edit…and Saquon

I just don't think that's his personality as the son of a coach. He's going to run the play that's called unless given the freedom to audible.

Barkley maybe maybe not. But yes I am interested in considering what a full hard reset would look like. In order to not saddle a new OC with this QB and a diva WR who may be in decline. I get that there is tons of dead cap that will limit cap space.

Im can live with letting Davis walk. Our interior rush was not effective enough for most of the season. Or, if there is long term concern over Carter' shoulders keep davis and let Carter walk. I could live with either scenario. They werent good enough and one may have long term health concerns.

Im definitely OK with no re-signing Nolan Smith. In fact, thats preferred.

Id want to still be able to sign DeJean and Mitchell, and hope that money begins to clear up in time to sign Hunt and Campbell. And probably another contract for DeVante Smith.

Wait until Howie signs PIckens

Most of me feels that this team with Howie and a well run organization that knows it needs to revamp the offensive staff. Team has a super young defense, a talented offense, extra picks, a great DC.

But there is a part of me that wonders if 2024 will be the peak of the Sirianni era. Reporters even from camp in 2024 were talking about how hungry and motivated and locked in the team was after 2023 collapsed and 2022 was unjustly stolen from them. And the entire season they never lost it. I'm wondering if 2024 was just a year where they poured everything into it. Their blood, sweat, tears, personal health... and they reached the top of the mountain. And it's like the hero at the end of the movie who sacrificed himself to defeat the final villain. Because the team this season didn't look as locked in, didn't look as healthy, didn't look as hungry or motivated, didn't look as focused or detail oriented.

Isn't that a horrifyingly short list?

They have essentially zero opportunity to trim costs on offense this offseason. It's not even about making the offense better. Our opportunity to make the offense better will come through a new OC and new scheme (and that's not some given that they pull it off). It's about making the offense cheaper so they can preserve the defense. And there's almost no way to make that happen.

Well, maybe that's the step Hurts need to take in order for him to become the player he truly can be.

We didn't have no major injuries fwiw. Lane missed the back half of the season and never came back. Carter was really never right all season and neither was Landon or Jurgens. Those were all impactful

Did Howie sign Cam after he hurt his back? I can't remember. Not a smart move if so.

Yes, we extended him last offseason. I was OK with it, but I really didn't think he'd still be this compromised by the back issues.

Mailata, Smith. Maybe Barkley?

That's all I got.
