I suppose the line needs to be drawn what is considered a close personal relationship and what is not. The whole job of a reporter is to build professional relationships. Does Jay Glazer day drinking with Head Coaches cross the line? It's also been widely known he is close friends with Lane Johnson and has a personal relationship with him. So when Glazer was the first to report that Lane had pain and swelling in his foot and was iffy for the playoff game, that should be seen as not credible?

There were leaked emails between Schefter and Bruce Allen where Schefter called him Mr Editor and asked if anything in his report should be changed. Nothing came from that. I'd argue that's worse than just being friends when it comes to credibility.

I think the truth is that all these national reporters have a chummy relationship that straddles or crosses the line with different people in power which is how they get their info and are usually always the first to report about something. I don't think Garafolo or Rapoport get their scoops from journalistic integrity and hard work.

In Dianna's case, I'm not arguing for her credibility going forward. I'm sure she was fed info by Vrabel. But again, she put things out there that go directly against what helps Vrabel so I just don't buy into this conspiracy that everything was some big plan to screw the Eagles. AJ Brown was the one constantly talking about being unhappy and how the Patriots are his favorite team for the last year. The big joke at the time was Dianna is just reporting based off his twitter and instagram posts. I'm just not seeing what power Rusinni has when it comes to the actual negotiations/trade value between the real players in this dance.

Disagree on her ability to impact trade value - constantly beating the drumbeat of the story reduces the Eagles leverage. It was basically making what appears to be a private trade request public. Also, she never really reported things that hurt the Patriots. She reported on the Rams AFTER they moved on. Schefter basically called her out for missing how close the Rams came to trading for AJ.

Let’s put it this way, how about this? The Eagles and Rams were further along at one point than people realized. Was that out there? Was that out there? Was Dianna on that?

This was Russini's report - after the trade didn't happen. She also shared the byline with 2 other reporters (including Berman). It was also after Rams Wire put it out.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7115737/2026/03/13/eagles-rams-aj-brown-trade-talks/

The Philadelphia Eagles held serious conversations with both the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots about trading wide receiver A.J. Brown, but will not trade Brown at this time, multiple league sources tell The Athletic.

And then of course there was her reporting up to the trade deadline last year, which Schefter basically called out as her lying

Adam Schefter throws shots at Dianna Russini for peddling...

AJ Brown was never getting traded this season. I knew that, you knew that, and Adam Schefter (obviously) knew that too. But one person couldn’t seem to accept

Basically, this screams out for an NFL investigation, and Howie and Jeffrey should demand it.

I think the main difference is that CB's will be more willing to disrupt the route physically especially if they are playing some sort of zone coverage.

They will.

It's not as though many rookie WRs don't have to deal with the adjustment to NFL press. Its common.

Even Christian Watson and other small school guys have done it before. The speed will definitely help him.

And this isn't some athlete without production like the Cincinnati kid. Lance is legit.

Lots of North Dakota State kids are making the jump to the NFL these days.

I think firing Dianna Russini would set a very dangerous precedent. For one, it still isn't 100% known that she is banging Vrabel. Even if she was, they would have to prove that the relationship affected her reporting, and to do that I think they'd need to prove that the information was either not correct or she was influenced by personal feelings to be tricked into reporting bad information.

But she can bang whomever she wants. Is it morally wrong to cheat on your husband? Yeah, but it's not a crime and The Athletic can't fire her for being a cheat. Any evaluation of her job performance would need to be based on the above and if her information was indeed correct, it shouldn't really matter how she got it. Anyone who works in the NFL is a potential source. You can't ban reporters from not dating people who work in the NFL, that would be crazy.

If we find out she purposely and intentionally slept with Vrabel purely to get information and/or put out bad information that she would have sniffed out as bad had she not been swayed by romantic feelings; or she intentionally put out objectively untrue information to help a dude she's Fing, then yes, that would be grounds to lose your job. I have no insight into that though, neither do any of the fans. At the end of the day most fans are upset because she was reporting something they didn't like hearing. If she was reporting every week that Jahan Dotson was unhappy with his role and could be traded, no one would've given a crap because people wouldn't be upset to see Dotson leave town.

This is consistent with how fans react whenever a story comes out that they don't want to be true. It happened with Carson Wentz in 2018 and Joe Santoloquito had his front door of his home kicked in people were so upset by it. A story that ended up being true btw, but a bunch of neanderthal fans were so emotionally immature they couldn't believe something reported negatively about their team or QB may be true, so let's attack a reporter for doing his job.

Just when I think you couldn't possibly get any more stupid and pathetic, you manage to set the bar even lower with monumental levels of stupidity and cringe like this. Congrats.

I just saw a mock where we take Malachi Lawrence at 23. Is he a late riser or something because dang that seems early AF for him.

Yes...

Totally agree. I mean if you take away the funny part of it it’s absolutely absurd. She’s also accused of doing this more than once for access.

I'm just going to agree to disagree. AJ made this all a very public scene. It wasn't Dianna's reporting that put it out there, it was all his tweets, posts, quotes etc that made it public. Eliot Wolf already knows everything Dianna is saying. Her reports aren't going to make him change his mind on an offer or value.

I'm also not sure what you mean about her reporting after the Rams moved on. She said it as it was on going.

Her reporting that another team is making a strong push to land him hurts the Patriots. Her dismissing the Doubs signing hurts the Patriots. Her making it seem like there is a bigger market for AJ outside of Patriots hurts the Patriots.

What is the NFL going to investigate? She's not an NFL employee. What are they going to punish the Patriots for? Putting their spin and perspective out there to the public? Every GM does that.

Yep, she is a total FN loser for several reasons and Vrabel is a total scumbag. I hope they get everything that is coming to them. As for the few people in here actually sticking up for her and/or playing the "we don't know if this is all just harmless" card, I have a simple message for you: You are a shameless pathetic cuck and a flat out FN moron.

I narrowed it down to 4 players I'd be most happy with in round 1(not necessarily at 23 specifically)

Monroe Freeling

Jordyn Tyson

Vega Ioane

Max Iheanachor

Then a gap and TJ Parker and Kadyn Proctor

That tweet is March 13. Same day as the story where they say it didn't happen. She just cribbed for the Tweet.

I don't know how much of her reporting was impacted by the relationship but it's not like you need a romantic relationship to biased. Part of the NFL's popularity is driven by this non-stop media coverage. Agents, coaches, players, owners and GMs all have interests in shaping what is reported. Relationships with reporters will form and be used to influence reporting. Reporters need that access and want to develop any relationship that gives them a potential edge to break a story. If neither of them were married, I really don't think it would be scandalous.

I do think if it comes out that there is an affair between them (which seems very likely). The NFL should look at punishing Vrabel under the personal conduct policy.

I'm confused what point this makes. She said Rams were actively negotiating against the Patriots. Tweet was 2:30PM. Later that say day around 6:00PM she tweeted no trade, talks are tabled until June 1. Then she wrote the article after everything went down that day. All this while Howie kept pushing back Goederts void date which suggests they were actively talking about trades that same day.

Even earlier that day she put out Rams discussed trading for Brown before McDuffie and that dialogue has slowed but Rams are continuing to monitor the status with interest.

One more for fun

Confirmed - Dianna posts here...

We can agree to disagree. It's hard to see how she was the only one flogging this story into the trade deadline last year, being mocked by other reporters, and not think it's because she was trying to curry favor with Vrabel.

That was basically my point. Every reporter is biased to a degree and it's just how it is in the world now and where journalism is.

Russini is certainly doing her job in a sleazier way than others though.

Just watched a couple of pods and both Steve Smith Sr. and Greg Cosell love Denzel Boston and Ted Hurst, a couple of names gaining some steam with the Eagles.
