I know I don't have to tell you the draft is for future roster construction and not patching holes.

I predict the Eagles will use their Day 1 and 2 picks on some combination of:

OL (Lane and/or Dickerson of the future),

WR (AJ Brown of the future)

TE (Goedert of the future),

EDGE (keep a rotation of EDGE rushers added to Smith/Hunt).

CB could be a Day 2 pick based on what @BigEFly and you've laid out.

It is, but generally the 1st round is for immediate impact also. And we arent a team who can take a luxury pick right now where we just wait for an opening for this player to begin playing a year away. We are a team in need of repair after stumbling in to and right out of the playoffs looking like we didnt belong. The impact is needed. We can balance that with the future.

Difference is if we get the same price at the deadline, Eagles are out $30M for the bonus they would have to pay for the 8 or 9 games he'd be an Eagle.

Yup - if we pay his $27.45mm option bonus right before the start of the season, he's here for all of 2026 unless Howie gets multiple 1sts. It would also add to his overall dead cap charge to boot.

Who have we had in for visits at WR ? Cooper Jr. was our 1st visit. We also had Chris Bell, Caleb Douglas and now Stribling.

Am i missing anyone? I'm still hoping for Chris Bell out of the bunch

Well, we definitely aren't drafting Tyson. This guy is never right about anything.

Id be wary of surface "separation" critiques. So many people get it wrong because they dont consider ball placement taking away that separation that the WR actually did earn. Its like Tee Higgins all over again. People said he didnt separate when he clearly did. They doubted him, and they were wrong. It was all about the ball placement undoing the work Higgins already accomplished in his routes. Bryce Lance isnt playing with great accurate QBs.

Lance hit the 7.00 3 cone threshold. Its adequate. Especially when you consider he is over 6'3''.

Brugler says mediocre separation quickness, which is true based on the 3 cone. But says Lance comes off the line tall, and needs to use better sink to get more efficient in his breaks.

Its a teachable skill.

Id also say, hes more than just a fast 40 guy. Not all fast 40s also come with the ridiculously quick 10 yard time. Lance has a 1.49 10 yard split. Hes not a tall build up speed guy. Hes like a speed bike off the starting line. Immediate acceleration that CBs will struggle to match.

They going to naturally have to give him a cushion which bakes in separation for him without even doing anything. Or theyre going to get burnt off the line and there will be quick separation.

His height, combined with 32'' arms and big hands means length is at play too. He positions himself well, and the QB can put the ball away from the defender. Again, thats separation baked in even when it doesnt look like its there.

Dotson was just as fast. Breaks matter a lot. His three cone and short shuttle are "adequate” but don’t suggest a quick break. His route tree is limited. What I see is a tall speed receiver that may fail like so many other speed receivers do. He seems like a Day 3 player at this point.

Not the actual Rickey

Does it matter? The actual Rickey never gets a thing correct either.

Isn't he the correct Rickey?

IMO, any guy (other than Shefter or Rapaport) would have been fired already. How is anybody supposed to take her reporting seriously at this point?

If you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying. It’s the patriot way.

Dotson was not just as fast. Not even close actually. Not in the 40, or in the 10. OR in the 3 cone...

It'll never happen cause it would be impossible to prove, but it would be hilarious if this resulted into an investigation that discovered she was writing those reports to drive AJ's trade value down for the patriots and then the patriots had to give us their 2028 first round pick anyway

Boom

I think it's funny how much traction this is getting from Eagles fans but Vrabel saying he regularly texts with AJ even during the season was swept under the rug. That should be what gets looked into for tampering.

He's just checking his well being apparently :)

makes sense, as he should be available at our pick. Not really worth that pick in most drafts.

While not a great DT draft, there are several DT tweeners that fit this defense as rotation DT/3/4DEs. Back up DT may be a need next year. And maybe starting DT if Carter prices out,

If we look at the current roster, all OLB/Edges except Hunt may be gone next year.

There really aren’t depth Gs right now and Steen is on year 4. Johnson has a year left and Lane is a risk henceforth.

S and CB are needs

TEs definitely. None signed past this year.

WR as well as Brown is likely gone after the season.

QB is a sneaky need. (Dalton and McKee go next year and that’s the out for Hurts if they want to take it.

Even backup RB needs to be considered.

I look at all those positions.

I wonder if Howie waits until after the draft for his fifth year extensions.

That’s also why I am a BPA selector. BPA must consider the player, who he might replace, cost (both in new player and cuts), position, depth in the near future, who they just drafted etc. A lot goes into that determination.

Him texting AJ has no impact on his trade value, constant reporting about him can tank his value around the league. That's why no one cares about them texting

Yep. If it was a Mike Garafolo type reporter, they'd be gone. It's a nono in many industries for good reason.

One comment I saw elsewhere is how quiet other reporters and the general NFL media are about this scandal. Its like they want it to go away as it burns the fact some reporters are very close (in a bro or fiends with benefits sense) with various team members. Their impartiality is done if other reporters are outed too

So maybe Lance can break but he hasn’t shown it.

I disagree. We have no idea what they are texting about. Vrabel could be coaching Brown what to do or say and could be telling him to force his way out which tanks his value. Vrabel could also be getting second hand information from inside the Eagles that leads to reports that tank his value.

I think too much in general is put into the whole Russini is tanking the value by reporting on him angle. Agents/GM's use her to put their message out to the general public but I don't think anything she or Schefter or Rapoport say means much to the actual GM's in trade talks. Even if it does, I mentioned the other day she said 5 minutes after Doubs signed that it wouldn't stop the Patriots from pursuing Brown. So she effectively killed any leverage the Patriots thought they got by signing him.

The texting is a much more clear case of tampering that they could actually get punished for. It would be a lot harder to try to prove tampering when the one person in the center of it all isn't even an NFL employee.
