He's running for mayor of the Eagles. I do think that he is sharing some honest insight but he's not going to say anything negative. It's all just fluff at this point anyway.

What’s our threshold for a good player?

Someone whose talent/expectation equals or exceeds their relative role on the team

It’s why the Brissett situation with his contract has gotten as ugly as it has. They are a poorly run organization that really makes counterproductive moves

Honestly, I think Minshew is a better QB than Brissett. It's a race between two sloths, but I'd put a nickel on Minshew.

Huh? Last year he was critical of the offense, and now he's saying the new coaching is fixing things with answers and bringing clarity to the confusion.

Tbh I’d just start Carson beck. You are going to be bad and frankly if you are really bad you are drafting a QB early. So beck’s development isn’t something I’m worried about ruining.

He was critical of the players. He was a staunch defender of Patullo

He criticized the delay in getting the play calls in - which is a Patullo problem - causing less time for pre snap reads.

Nevertheless, the poster said Mailata never says anything negative, not that he never says anything negative about coaches. Mailata isn't speaking like a politician or coach-speak, which would be simply saying positive things and being vague.

No, he criticized Patullo last year, he calls out players, he inadvertently criticized Patullo yesterday by saying Mannion is bringing answers and clarity to confusion.

Miracle it wasn't for grand larceny

Mailata strikes me as blunt and more frank than most athletes. He's not afraid to speak his mind.

When he made the comment about the plays coming in slow he blamed the players. He said the team needs to break the huddle sooner and with more urgency to get to the LOS. Anytime Patullo came up he always said it was very unfair to blame him for the offense and it's the players fault for not executing. He said it in week 4 and he said it again after the playoff loss.

He really doesn't say anything negative. He phrases all the problems as an accountability issue for the players. Which is fine. It absolutely comes off as politician or coach-speak to me though. Which is why he gets caught so many times inadvertently criticizing someone. Because he just says things he knows people want to hear without being negative.

Just revisit what he said about Kevin Patullo one year ago during OTA's.

"He's awesome. Great communicator. Like just very detailed, very open. Very approachable so it's easy for us to come to him with ideas. We're able to have that open dialogue. Because of that relationship he can tell us "no, that's a bad idea. Here's why". But it's not just a shutdown, there's always a why, you know, so I learn more that day and it's great."

One year later and all the reports are there was so much confusion. No one had answers. Patullo wasn't a coach that ever explained why which is what Hurts wants.

Sure, people tend to say positive things around this time of year in OTAs. He has said negative things which was the point I was replying to, suggesting he never says anything negative. By now saying the new OC has answers and solved confusion, is negative about the prior coaching. Saying players aren't executing is being negative. If he were being positive or a politician, he would say what Siri and Hurts say which is things like we just have to execute better, play to the standard, keep working, stick to process, etc. That's coach speak. I think Mailata speaks his mind, he doesn't just say politician type coach speak.

We can agree to disagree. The bolded is what I always hear him say. I think he's just saying things to support the new staff without realizing it comes off as shade to the prior. Same thing when he said Mannion is the smartest person in the building and if you put the top 3 it would just be him. That should speak negatively on Sirianni but you know that's not what he meant.
