It's also not the first time Sweat was shopped and there was no interest. He was on the verge of getting cut here because no one offered anything.

The NFL is on record being against Sweat shops.

Yep. I think what happened is that teams went to them and they were only gonna give up a fifth that could become a 4th or something along those lines When you look at the totality of the situation with Josh sweat, he needs an extension after this year cause i believe he only has $3 million guaranteed. So you know he’s gonna ask for that. The Cardinals aren’t gonna give them that so either release him or they’re gonna make him play on that contract (probably going to lead to a standoff next offseason). Secondly, he also is going to be closer to 30 and he has a degenerative knee issue. I’m guessing the Cardinals want like a third round pick with conditions for it to be more. Teams weren’t going to bite on that (maybe a desperate team at the deadline does) knowing he is likely asking for an extension after 2026, knee issues and getting closer to 30.

He has a $30 million dead cap hit if he's traded. The Cardinals took on a $47 million dead cap charge for releasing Murray this season too.

It's much more likely that Mary Kay messed up the wording in her tweet and she meant to put out that there was zero chance that the Eagles were offering Carter in return.

I don't think so. She's saying that this morning because Florio said last night the Eagles made a play and the Browns wanted Carter. She's putting out the Eagles never made a play and the Browns didn't want Carter, refuting his report.

Living out in Arizona, listening to the sports talk out here there was talks about them trying to trade him at the draft (he doesn’t want to be there anymore and was irritated when they fired Gannon as that’s why he went there — besides money). So I don’t think it’s they made it up. I think this is more of the Cardinals didn’t get what they wanted so they weren’t going to trade him for less than they believed he’s worth (albeit they are going to suck and can use the draft capital more than him playing next year). There’s also been reports Brissett more money to be the starter based off when he signed his contract it was to be the backup. they are refusing to do that so they have a quarterback dilemma as well. They’re a poorly run franchise. This makes much more sense when you understand that the Cardinals are a bad franchise.

I'm sure there were talks at some point during the offseason. But a Packers beat writer the other day reported that the Packers are not trading for Sweat and didn't even have conversations about Sweat and that Packers trade rumors are fake news.

Maybe the Eagles called weeks ago before the Greenard trade to gauge interest or whatever, but in recent days I don't think teams were even talking or any deal was ever close. Doubt the Eagles have even spoken to the Cardinals about Sweat since the Greenard trade went down. It really doesn't make a whole lot of sense cap wise or roster wise.

Sucks about Sweat if he isn't getting moved. Would've been a nice pickup.

I am baffled as to why people are against it or think we're fine there. Hunt, while improving, is far from a sure thing. Smith is injury prone and underwhelming. Ebiketie is solid depth at best. Greenard has the upside, but he's coming off of a down year and injury troubles as well.

We absolutely could use more at DE.

Technically it's only $22M if traded, and it's post June 1st so $5.5M this year and $16.5M next.

So I wound up being partially right cause I said if the Rams traded for AJ Brown then they were going to go and flip Davante Adams or include him in the Eagles trade to get off his cap number. they were not gonna pay AJ Brown, Adams and then have to give an extension to puka Nacua. They only wanted to pay two of them and one was clearl

Nacua. So apparently couldn’t get Adams flipped besides just AJ Brown’s knee issue

They went into last season with far, far less. I'm fine if they want to bolster depth but I don't want to trade any more assets after giving up a 3 for Phillips and then two 3's for Greenard in a span of a few months.

It made more sense if they were gonna trade him it was after June 1. Prior it was. 5 mil cap hit and 22 mil dead money. After June 1 they get a $10.9 million cap savings and the dead money only gets split so it’s $5 million this year and 16.5 in 2027 according to spotrac

Feels like sweat is going to be the hot commodity at the trade deadline assuming he’s healthy

Jordan Mailata on differences in the new offense: it's bloody beautiful

  • we have answers to a lot of the things in the run game now

  • we've cleared up the confusion on who's blocking who

  • pass game for O line a lot simpler

  • adding in deception, motion, responsibilities for receivers in the run game

Yesterday he said Mannion is an evil genius, the smartest person in the building. Now he's saying he's providing answers and clearing up confusion.

That’s a crazy indictment on Stoutland and everyone else involved with the coaching staff. Maybe Jurgens too.

I didn't have as much of a problem with AJ's comments after the Super Bowl (about not personally being satisfied) as much as other fans did. It was framed as he's just a competitor. But this recent interview he's now saying the pressure for the team to win was too much, and when things were going bad people expected them to fix it. No kidding. You are defending champions, yes of course there's going to be a standard. So winning the SB wasn't satisfying, and the pressure to win was too much?

I don't know if any off the field gossip Is remotely true, but what I do find believable is that Hurts did not like his attitude because Hurts always cares about team wins over individual stats. I could see if AJ thought that his friend would support him and want to force the ball to him or at least defend his comments, but if Hurts was holding him accountable to put the team first and not care about individual stats, I could see that being a factor.

The game that AJ had his best stat sheet this year he posted "using me but not using me" afterward. I'd be curious if Hurts talked to him about that kind of thing and AJ just didn't like it.

It also could make sense in that context if AJ were one of the sources that has been criticizing Hurts to reporters.

I didn't at the time, because I took it as "1 isn't enough. I want to win multiple." That is absolutely not the case though. He meant he's a gigantic vachina that can't be happy unless he gets 15+ targets/game to the detriment of the team. I hope Drake Maye takes the biggest step back of all time this season, the Mike Vrabe/Russini scandal just blows up the chemistry of that entire team, Robert Kraft gets caught at an Eyes Wide Shut party with all men, and they become a run first offense solely because AJ Brown has lost 2 steps.

You know what I find very curious right now, the report posted on here the other day about the Rams not working on getting an extension done with Nacua. He is entering the last year of his contract. Granted in 2027 they can franchise tag him and get another year. However, I have to imagine part of the reason it hasn’t happened with a WR of his caliber is all the off the field stuff. might not feel comfortable giving it to him right now and want the season to play out.

Possible tinfoil hat theory I do wonder if (big if that they win a SB even as the favorites) the Rams go out and win a Super Bowl this year and Matthew Stafford retires at the end of the year that they franchise him. and then potentially move him to recoup some of the draft capital they gave up for Myles Garrett (which a team would give a nice haul for nacua) and can build the offense that way around Simpson.

Breer said the 2028 pick idea came from the Rams negotiations which were very serious and focused around a 2028 pick, but the Rams backed out partly because of concerns over the knee, but mainly because they'd have to also move Adams and the Rams just couldn't swing both.

I don't think it was even a real report. My guess is he just piggybacked the Easton Butler fake news and tried to pass it off as his own. A lot of internet try hards do that.

Wrong.

According to Easton Butler Sweat wants the packers but talks aren't going anywhere with them. Philly is his #2.

I am not sure why someone would prefer to go to Green Bay with their weather, and their QB.

Do I need to point out the obvious to you?
