When trading away Garrett, I think you want to mitigate the risk. I think they did well.I don't think they did poorly on the trade. I just don't believe a report that they wouldn't want Carter. I mean Myles Garrett was suspended for 6 games spearing Mason Rudolph.

3 hours ago3 hr Mailata on Smitty."He's always been a No. 1 receiver. Nothing has changed for Smitty. Smitty's always led from the front. So that narrative, we can shut that down now, because Smitty's always led from the front. Just because he never wore that captain's patch the last two years, didn't mean that he wasn't a captain in the locker room. But he always left from the front, and that's why I'm calling it now, when he wears that captain's patch this year, there's no surprise. He's always been a captain in my eyes, just from the way he's led, the way he's always gone about his business on and off the field. So he's just awesome."

Philly is his #2.I am not sure why someone would prefer to go to Green Bay with their weather, and their QB.Because he has Parsons to take pressure off of him. Greenard is good, but isn't going to pull pressure off him like Parsons, but Carter will...so, who knows.
2 hours ago2 hr Verse and Carter on the line would definitely be what Philly would love to see.1 hour ago, NCiggles said:Zero chance that they would have wanted Carter? That's not at all true. Carter has much more upside as a player than Verse and has been more productive. I can understand them not wanting Nolan Smith or Hunt over Verse. I think the Cleveland trade with the Rams has been in place for awhile. My guess is Howie knew on draft night they were not really in the running for Garrett. My guess is the price was probably Carter plus three picks. Howie wasn't willing to include Carter in the deal.I think the Rams knew AJ was going to get traded at 4:00 so upped their offer earlier that day with Verse and said now or never so Eagles couldn't offer up those new picks... WTF knows though

I mean Myles Garrett was suspended for 6 games spearing Mason Rudolph. They had far more information on Garrett the person since he’s been in their building. Carter certainly has bigger concerns than that single moment. And look, people want to pile on various Browns behavioral issues. That’s fine. That’s fair. But keeping Garrett after swinging a helmet at Rudolph is not the same as trading for Carter as the main piece in a deal where you trade arguably the best Browns player since Jim Brown. The Watson trade is its own monstrosity that was pushed by the owner and it blew up in their faces spectacularly. I think that would leave some scar tissue. That doesn’t mean they won’t take risks on character issues (see Isaiah Bond), but I think it would make them not want to make someone like Carter be the main piece.
2 hours ago2 hr It very well could be a combo of character concerns, shoulder issues and having to give him a massive pay day soon. All 3 aren't the most desirable things combined.

It was Ollie Connolly doing it as well. I’d add the cardinals putting that out there might also be because they wanted more from a team and they weren’t going to get that so they decided to just keep him by leaking this. I mentioned this yesterday if they didn’t get the return they want they’d just keep him. It’s why the Brissett situation with his contract has gotten as ugly as it has. They are a poorly run organization that really makes counterproductive moves

They had Fletcher Cox and then drafted Davis and Carter, Williams and Ojomo. If Carter brought a significant haul that made it worth it, Howie knows he has Davis and Ojomo and they've been successful at drafting DTs.

He was on the verge of getting cut here because no one offered anything.

A lot of internet try hards do that.Living out in Arizona, listening to the sports talk out here there was talks about them trying to trade him at the draft (he doesn’t want to be there anymore and was irritated when they fired Gannon as that’s why he went there — besides money). So I don’t think it’s they made it up. I think this is more of the Cardinals didn’t get what they wanted so they weren’t going to trade him for less than they believed he’s worth (albeit they are going to suck and can use the draft capital more than him playing next year). There’s also been reports Brissett more money to be the starter based off when he signed his contract it was to be the backup. they are refusing to do that so they have a quarterback dilemma as well. They’re a poorly run franchise. This makes much more sense when you understand that the Cardinals are a bad franchise.
