That’s a crazy indictment on Stoutland and everyone else involved with the coaching staff. Maybe Jurgens too.

Maybe it's just me but I don't really take anything Mailata says seriously. He would be a good politician.

I think we should take it seriously because there was plenty of film last year where it looked like we had no idea who to block.

Many of us were on Stoutland in 2025. I've never seen so many missed assignments. That almost never happened during the middle of his tenure.

No I know ours isn't much better. But I actually prefer Hurts.

I think @vikas83 and I are going to be right about next off-season being drama with him. Cause I will bet the New England Patriots are not gonna wanna give him an extension but will pick up his option for 2028 as they start getting more concerned with him aging and his knees. Meanwhile, he’s gonna want a new deal with new money because of the way the wide receiver market has played out. he’s likely gonna have a nice year in New England cause he’s happy and they’re gonna force feed him the ball as he’s the best wide receiver.

feels like it’s going to be drama around 2027 off-season where New England tries to smooth it over by saying we’ll pick up and guarantee your 2028 and AJ Brown/agent wanting to be paid like a top 5 wide receivers in today’s market i can totally see that happening because I don’t think New England wants to get themselves in a contract that takes them past 2028.

I meant more of the "everything is figured out" talking points after a few OTA's. Let's see what this years film shows.

He's good at saying things to say things, but some of the things he says come off as indictments on others without him realizing. Like when he said Mannion is the smartest guy in the building and if you put the top 3 smartest guys in a room, it would just be him. That's an unintentional major indictment of all the other coaches.

Woolen looks so stiff in most of the clips I’ve seen of him. I get he’s a bigger corner, but there is a natural clunkiness to his movements.

If we had the same OC maybe.

If there was a disconnect it likely would have been there - not with the best offensive line coach in Eagles history.

AJ has 4 years, $113 million left on his deal - $29mm in 2026, $21mm in 2027, $32mm in 2028 and $31mm in 2029. After this season, it's 3 years, $84mm, with only $4mm guaranteed. Even if NE offered to gtee 2027 and 2028, that's still a 3 year, $84mm deal with $53mm guaranteed. Drake London just got 4 years, $141mm with $100mm gteed. So AJ would have a lower AAV ($28mm vs. $35.25mm for Drake) and about half the guaranteed money (one less contract year, but assuming all of Drake's guaranteed are early in deal). Even rolling in London's 5th year option, it's a $31.56mm AAV for 5 years (unclear if the reported $100mm in guaranteed includes the $16.82mm 5th year or if it's $100mm incremental on top of that).

The $21mm 2027 number was basically designed as the trigger point to force trade/release/extension. I just see no way AJ plays for $21 million in 2027 given where the WR market is. NE will have to give him a raise for 2027 and gtee 2028 at a minimum to keep him happy.

I didn't at the time, because I took it as "1 isn't enough. I want to win multiple." That is absolutely not the case though. He meant he's a gigantic vachina that can't be happy unless he gets 15+ targets/game to the detriment of the team. I hope Drake Maye takes the biggest step back of all time this season, the Mike Vrabe/Russini scandal just blows up the chemistry of that entire team, Robert Kraft gets caught at an Eyes Wide Shut party with all men, and they become a run first offense solely because AJ Brown has lost 2 steps.

Just saying if Robert Kraft goes down, we potentially lose Kraft mac & cheese are you prepared to lose that?

Yup. I don’t think New England wants to be tied to AJ Brown past 2027. They probably want him for 2028 but have the optionality of he really declined in 2027 or gets injured to move on. I think they’ll try to guarantee 2027 and 2028 to try keep him happy but I don’t think that’s gonna work. I think he wants a contract probably better than Drake London. he thinks he’s better than Drake London (statistically has been for his career), even though he’s going to be older than Drake London. I just don’t see a world where AJ Brown is just gonna be happy with them guaranteeing 2027 and 2028. His contract at this point is far below market value in 2027 and I have to imagine if he has a big season in New England he is wanting a contract that is Drake London or more .

I was watching Brown 2022 and 2023 highlights the other day and he unquestionably looks more explosive. Hard to tell how much of that is the knee or if he just bulked up too much, dude is built like a tank. Probably a bit of both. Still, he dropped about 200 yards worth of passes in 2025 which would still put him in the elite category. I think he will have a good year or two with the Patriots the question is how good.

People clown Maye for his awful playoffs and he deserves it, but I'd take him 100 times out of 100 over Hurts for the next 5 years.

People around here have like 50 first dates kind of memory. OC doesn't matter? Tell that to 2023 and 2025. OC is everything. A good OC can cover up so much of the bad and a bad OC can make the best players look like garbage. If the scheme is garbage, there isn't much the players can do to succeed. You have an install, if the install is garbage and the game plan is complete trash, there isn't much anybody can do about it. Don't act like the players are responsible for the playbook or the play call. The execution is the only reason they won so many games. Any competent OC would have done so much more with the talent on this team. The players didn't go from winning the Super Bowl to bumbling idiots over night. They inherited an idiot who managed to turn an all-star cast into a high school offense.

Agreed. Just look at the 49ers playoff game. Their offense lost Kittle early in the game and had mostly Jags at WR position and a banged up offensive line. Yet, they were productive & creative enough to beat a solid Eagles defense on the road. Scheme and playcalling can easily bring you up or down a couple notches. The OC has to find the best match for the talent that he has and max out on it. Patullo had a list of plays not a cohesive scheme.

Yeah Garafolo is right. I've said on here before that usually when a star player gets traded it falls under one of multiple categories: beef with ownership/front office(usually contract related), beef with the head coach where the head coach is like get this guy the F outta here. Or he's on a crap team that can't win. This fell under neither category. AJ Brown is just a weird dude.

And I don't believe it's just his legacy. His legacy with the Eagles was a HOF trajectory. I also don't think it's off the field. I think if you piece together all the information that gives us the most likely scenario. Take the reports that Jalen Hurts was resistant to change during the last few seasons and wanted to run the offense a very specific way. Then take reports that AJ and Hurts relationship soured over football matters. I'd bet that AJ was pissed that Hurts was stubborn, took it personally like my own QB is sabotaging my career due to his own stubbornness and eventually was like F it, I'm done with you. I think that would be a major overreaction by AJ given the success they had, but again, AJ is a weird dude.

He's running for mayor of the Eagles. I do think that he is sharing some honest insight but he's not going to say anything negative. It's all just fluff at this point anyway.
