BTW, I had some entertainment over the weekend. Ron DeSantis decided to troll us on X and got community noted over WW2, it seems the war of 1812 isn't taught in American schools anymore and seeing all the fireworks displays and stuff - a decent spectacle. Glad you all enjoyed it.

After Trump posted about the decision, it makes it look like Trump, FIFA Peace Prize "winner", had influence. Dave Portnoy also implied that he did.

FIFA did suspend the red card for Ronaldo (from qualifiers) to allow him to play in the world cup. Obviously not influenced by Trump. So theres a precedent for them to get things right after the review board checks things over.

The officials are the ones who undermined VAR by misusing it.

England leg bounced up off the ball. He didnt intend to slide in cleats up. That was unintentional. Should be yellow.

My arse wasn't puckered - I was frustrated with the officiating - but England looked largely in control in a red hot atmosphere. If you look at how little Mexico lose at the Azteca in competitive games (and how little they traveled), you can appreciate how well they did - the stats before the game are:

El Tri have played 89 competitive games at the stadium over the last 60 years and have won 70 of them, drawing 17 and only losing twice.

England's game management when down to 10 was spot on; the subs were the right ones and the big players turned up - Bellingham was fantastic. A Gareth Southgate team would have wilted there; this team didn't.

As for Norway, they are a strong team with an English lad up front - not taking the game for granted. I don't anticipate an easy win or an easy game - but having watched them last night, not at the level of Spain or France. but still very good. Will cause many problems for England,. I did laugh at Gabriel once again getting owned by Haaland.

It should have been a yellow. There was some mitigation there and I don't see why VAR stepped in there when perhaps they haven't before in other games. The concern for England is the 1 in a 100 red card gives them another hole at RB.

Congrats. Was a fantastic win and a must watch game for those who missed it. As you said, coach nailed it in the second half and it was cool to see the Premier League guys step up under pressure. Onto the next one as they only get harder from here.

I love the meltdowns online over the kid playing tonight. Too bad.
