FIFA is corrupt - this will lose them a lot of credibility around the world but does make the game more exciting and I think US will pull it off now. Don't think they win without him

Seemed like they had a good shot without him. Obviously much tougher.

Its too bad that doing the right thing seems like the wrong thing because FIFA had stupid rules to begin with.

This doesn't even crack the top 10 of things FIFA has done that should lose them credibility. They corrected an egregious error, people should be happy

What do you use for it? I'd probably be in.

The rules are supposed to protect from political influence.

After Trump posted about the decision, it makes it look like Trump, FIFA Peace Prize "winner", had influence. Dave Portnoy also implied that he did.

FIFA did suspend the red card for Ronaldo (from qualifiers) to allow him to play in the world cup. Obviously not influenced by Trump. So theres a precedent for them to get things right after the review board checks things over.

The only thing I feel a little bad about is that it took this long. Belgium prepared all week for a team without Balogun and supposedly no chance to appeal. Day before the match, Balogun is in. Thats really tough for Belgium. This should have happened a lot quicker.

The rules didn't prevent the card being incorrectly doled out in the first place thriugh improper use of VAR (the initial corruption). It's all faux outrage to me because if this happened to France or Argentina the world would first have rioted against the card to begin with and then would be applauding this reversal.

It shouldn't have been a red card.

But once it is given - you cant have a political leader of a host nation ring up the FIFA president to get it reversed.

That is speculation, however. Surely he didnt call for Ronaldo's to be suspended so there is a precedent for FIFA in THIS world cup to overturn the suspension for a country other than the US.

Even if he did, honestly don't care. FIFA needs to take a hard look at themselves if they were able to reverse that decision (by their own written rules looks like they could) and decided not to because of....reasons?

They haven't even addressed the improper use of VAR to issue the card in the first place, they had an official completely ignore guidance and not a peep about corruption.

Let's not pretend this is the first time politics has affected FIFA.

As we wait for LeBron's decision to go back to Cleveland, here is a throwback that Ive actually never seen before.

We just did. Oh well.

FIFA lifted the suspensions in favor of probation for MULTIPLE players before the Balogun ruling:

Ronaldo

Otamendi

Caicedo

But when the US benefits, the usual shitbags of course lose their minds.

I think it'll be a good game either way, but it would be hilarious if Mexico won just so that we could see UKEagle come in here and whine about the loss and blame it on Harry Kane because he was too left-leaning with his political views or something to that effect.

You squeaked out of there with a win, down a man most of the second half, arsehole firmly puckered the entire time. Good luck against, Norway. They look as good as any team in this tournament.

Does Shepards pie with Ground Beef work?

No, Shepherds Pie is traditionally made with Lamb Mince - hence the name. Cottage Pie is the Beef version, but people use the Shepherds Pie name somewhat interchangeably

I'm sure this was very funny, but that site is blocked in the UK.

BTW, I had some entertainment over the weekend. Ron DeSantis decided to troll us on X and got community noted over WW2, it seems the war of 1812 isn't taught in American schools anymore and seeing all the fireworks displays and stuff - a decent spectacle. Glad you all enjoyed it.
