If we make a trade just have a gut feeling it will be for someone like Marvin Harrison Jr or Brian Thomas Jr.

Maybe not them specifically, but a young player who has fallen out of favor somewhat that could be a gamble payoff.

I would like to see Clay add some players as trying returns on punts. Give Shipley a try. Absolutely want to see Darius Cooper try it. Hollywood. Whoever they think might win back up DB positions. Carter, Ringo, McWilliams. Heck, maybe even give Stowers a try. Not looking for Greg Mitchell situation but curious to see if any have the knack for it. At the very least, they may need a back up.

Howie talking with Kay sounds like he has a move or a few up his sleeve.

When has Howie gotten through training camp without trading for a couple veterans and moving out a couple guys before cuts for late round picks?

I think if he isn't working on a deal he's pacing the floor, waiting for his phone to ring.

I'm not so sure he's as dumb as he acted but maybe.

He wasn't. Banked his salary and lived off endorsements.

Understood what "Not For Long" league meant.

My thoughts so far.

The exhibition games will be more interesting this fall, not so much the players but seeing how the new scheme looks, even with the inevitable screwups (backups running a new scheme).

Stoutland was a great OL coach, but not really flexible, he coached to a certain scheme, which worked to perfection when his well trained horses were healthy. But it was a demanding scheme, you had to beat opponents one on one both run blocking and pass blocking, a lot of power inside, a lot of slow developing pass plays forcing OL to hold their blocks. Worked when he had great talent that stayed healthy, but hard to find backups who were adequate.

Mannion's scheme is probably going to look bit like AR with Mudd as the OL. You don't need as physically talented OL b/c you're not going to ask as much out of them, the scheme will help set up blocks. You can get by with smaller, athletic OL (Kendall is a good fit at guard) who are easier to draft.

Same at skill positions, remember when AR could make his offense work with Trash, Pinkston, Mitchell and Lewis? Now Smith, Wicks, Lemon and Cooper, with Goedert and Mundt is more talent, but the scheme won't tell them to go one on one on a regular basis and beat top CBs. The object is to keep the defense on its toes, buying that half second to quickly get open.

I don't think Brown, skipping the personality issues, was a great fit for this scheme b/c he wanted to be the focal point of the offense, and the point is there is no primary target - not that Smith won't get a lot of touches, but they'll come out of the flow of the scheme.

Motion, play action, disguising the play, it'll look very different than the last few seasons.

I think Hurts should excel, in the same fashion the scheme covers for skill player limitations, it doesn't demand a QB have a rocket arm. It does require a high degree of intelligence and the work ethic to learn the scheme inside out so you recognize who is coming open quickly and get the ball out. I expect a lot of 10-15 yard pass plays, more screens, wheel routes, etc. where you get the defense to overlook the RB. AR excelled at that, getting Staley and Westbrook lots of touches. The question will be whether Barkley is suited to the running scheme, but I think he'll play a bigger role as a receiver - get him the ball in stride in the second level and let him make magic. I think Rigsby will push him as a one cut runner in a stretch zone scheme and Howie should extend him before he puts up big #.

Of course, I expect JR to tell me I'm full of crap.

The defense, what me worry? Loaded for bear, Trotter has made big strides, so I don't think Dean will be missed. Hunt is the prototype 3-4 SOLB, who can line up with a hand on the ground or play in space, Howie lock him up! Carter, Davis, Ojomo, depth the only issue. Secondary should be improved, safety is the only ???

I expect growing pains the first half, but a great defense will buy time for the offense to get it together. Baring a major series of injuries (may the Football Gods smile upon us), I can see a SB run.

Random observation… Every time I see a clip of Hollywood Brown at practice, dude looks like a total pro. Still seems fast too. Why has he never really been targeted down the field?

He did essentially nothing with Andy Reid and Pat Mahomes so my expectations are pretty low for him.

I think this is the sink or swim moment for Hurts and his overall progression. If he adapts well to this new O and ups his overall game of recognizing the D and going thru his reads successfully then he develops into a great QB. If not, then he'll tread water and slowly fade as his running abilities begin to falter. His leadership, toughness, calmness, poise, etc. was never an issue and neither was his accuracy or rushing abilities. On the right team he is elite but in the wrong setting he became mediocre. Now is his time to take that final step forward in his life long journey.

The insurmountable issue for a European league or even expansion franchises in Europe / Central South America is that there's no way you get top American college prospects to come here to play and setting up a College system in foreign countries would require a ruinously expensive level of commitment. Any genuinely outstanding foreign talents would be poached the second they hit free agency by the American teams anyway, so it's immediately known as a league for projects and back ups which is never challenging the established order, which is a very hard sell to fans. It would need decades of financial support and genuine commitment to something that may never pay off.

As a sort of analogous example Women's soccer in England, the league has been in existence for 16 years, the English national team has won 2 major international tournaments in the last decade so its profile will never be higher, most Premier League sides have their own women's sides, there's an awful lot of media hoopla about how the quality is improving and the games getting bigger, but the League isn't that close to breaking even never mind making a profit. An NFL International League would be an order of magnitude harder than that again to get into a viable self supporting state.

For me, the only possible way to do it is integrating it with the International Pathway program as a training ground - even if its a 4 team league and done over a 6 week period. But not gonna happen. logistically doesn't make sense.

I've not been to White Hart Lane either - my team rarely plays the Spuds and its not the easiest to get to. I didn't realise tickets were even released as it seems the NFL have removed from me their mailing lists. Oops.

Cris Collinsworth sured love him some Hayes King doesn't he? This popped into my head while watching the game

Yeah, we have a mate in London and some of the lads all met up for a few days. We went to a couple different games so I didn't see my team (Chelsea) there at WHL. It was when Bale played there. Think it was against Sunderland but it may have been Southampton (can't remember). We did go into the Spurs pubs afterward and that was fun especially since they had won. Of course I wasn't advertising my Chelsea fandom in there, haha.

Spuds fans are largely all mouth and trousers. But even so, not the done thing....

If anyone here wants the true football agro experience, go to a pub in Bermondsey near Millwall's ground on a matchday and say you are a West Ham fan. It'll be great exercise. 🤣.

Haha. Yeah, I have a mate here in Sweden who is from England and a massive Hammer. I know all about those East London rivalries. He took me down to Upton Park years ago. We didn't have tickets but we hung out in the pubs before the game. He made me swear not to talk to anyone. I had a West Ham scarf on and thought it would be fine and I could say I was a visiting Hammer fan from Philly and they'd love me but he convinced me so I said nothing. What a sheethole couple of pubs. Carpets full of years of beer and probably piss and god knows what else. It was fun to have experienced it, once, and of course to get out alive.

Probably nothing

Accused NFL scammer found dead in NJ pool — weeks after multimillion-dollar scheme targeting players was exposed

Authorities are investigating the death of Mohamed Coulibaly, who has allegedly scammed many former NFL players with a fake e-commerce scheme, ABC News reported Thursday.

The 24-year-old was found dead in a swimming pool on Friday in Harrison Township, New Jersey. Police were contacted over concerns of his well-being and went over to the home for a welfare check.

The death follows a Barron’s investigation published on July 15 that named Coulibaly as the leader of a scam to get professional athletes to buy stakes in fake Shopify stores.

Former Giants linebacker Tae Crowder was an alleged victim of Coulibaly’s after connecting with him through a friend.

Additionally, three former NFL players admitted they collectively lost over $1 million in investments made through the Philadelphia native.

Eagles stars Nakobe Dean and Jalen Carter, Raiders’ Terrell Edmunds, rapper YG and US men’s soccer national team defender Mark McKenzie were among clients listed as well.

The former pros would invest into the e-commerce stores after having seen the promising sales logs, but Barron’s found those transactions were "manually input” by someone with access to the backend of the shops.

Crowder, who was drafted by the Giants in the seventh round in 2020 and played with Big Blue through the 2022 season, said he often saw Coulibaly around people he knew, which made him feel "comfortable.”
The 29-year-old, who last played in the NFL in 2023 for the Titans, threw all of his savings — $500,000 — into one of the fake web stores.

"I would log into the store all the time and just see, like, how it would work and what was going on,” Crowder said. "I feel like the more I told him about that, like, as many times I kept logging in, the number started going up.”

Yet, that return on investment never showed.

"I strongly dispute a number of the factual assertions and characterizations contained in the Barron’s article and any follow-up reporting that relies upon them,” Coulibaly told The Post in July.

He also argued to Barron’s that his investors had not received returns because he also "hadn’t received expected funds from a planned acquisition of his venture.”

No criminal charges have been filed in connection to Coulibaly.

"I don’t want anybody else to get involved in anything like this, and whoever has got involved, I just want to come together and make it right,” Crowder said.

Peacock was supposed to be adding the feature to mute announcers in 2026. Guess it hasn't been officially added yet. This would have been a good time to implement now. Guess they're waiting until week 1

I don't see how anyone looks at that Commanders' roster and thinks it looks like anything other than a middle to bottom of the League team. They have Tunsil and Cosmi on the O-line. Conerly looked not great as a rookie but improvement is a projection. McLaurin had less than 600 yard receiving last season and was injured. Daniels looked bad last season and is coming off of injuries. Diggs is a year older and may be facing League discipline along with his decline in play. The fact that they added him after camp started tells you what you about what they think of their depth. They have a first time OC and DC. The defense was worse than the offense last season. The defense added Styles, Chenal and Oweh. Maybe that makes them a middle of the road defense but I don't think any of those players are all-pros. Styles has that potential but I would still take Baun over him. There is not a single player I would take as a starter, on their roster, over any of the Eagles' starters with the exception of McLaurin over Wicks.

Howie definitely got annoyed by her. Awkward exchange when she said she would never answer if he was calling. She didnt even get to address it after that either. The interview moved on and that was left hanging. Brutal.
