So you reject @HazletonEagle 's claim that Hurts and Dalton will be in a QB battle come camp time?

Didn’t and won’t read the Kempski article because it’s just filler before we even have OTAs. That said, Dalton seems like an insurance play. Primarily against Payton flopping as badly as McCord or showing enough that they feel they can risk moving McKee for the right value. Of course, Dalton has to demonstrate he can still be a viable backup.

I think Dalton was brought in prior to the draft in case they were to make a deal involving McKee or if they didn't select a quarterback to develop. Since neither of those things happened -- and the former is still a possibility -- it's not unreasonable to think he could be the odd man out come final cuts.

He's also familiar with Mannion's offense right so could definitely help all QB's involved.

I do think Cole Payton is one of the more intriguing guys in camp. Size, arm, speed, strength, instincts as a runner. Probably 2nd to Nigerian Superman in terms of guys I wanna watch this preseason.

Re the Nigerian Superman the photo everybody loves showed me somebody that could could be Schwarzenegger's (sp?) successor as Conan the Barbarian. His testing was excellent. Now to see if he can become a football player.

He needs a couple years of development. Watching him in the 2027 preseason compared to this one will give a good indication of whether there’s anything there.

I don't think he's familiar with Mannion's offense. Dalton hasn't been in the McVay/Shannahan system before.

I think Dalton is insurance if they trade McKee. If McKee is traded, Dalton would be QB2 and Payton as the developmental QB3. I have doubts they would carry 4 QBs. With Dalton, they would be carrying a roster spot for a guy who doesn't fit the scheme and sits behind 2 QBs that do.

He spent his last year in Cincy with Zac Taylor, so he has some loose connections to the McVay offense. I don't think we can say he's for sure familiar with Mannion's offense since we don't even know enough about the guy yet.

That’s true. I missed the Zac Taylor connection. The Bengals were a mess that year and Dalton didn’t really thrive under the system. He had a bad year and ended up getting benched.

At least with Mannion he played under McVay and coached under LaFleur. Hopefully the Eagles get better results. I just don’t see much of a point with Dalton outside of being insurance if McKee is traded.

I believe Dalton will be learning the new system next to all the other Eagles offensive players (and the fans). I don’t think it will be a carbon copy of Green Bay’s offense anymore than AR’s was when he came to Philly. That said, the third and fourth team QBs don’t get a lot of live snaps.

I’ve kinda grown to believe guys tend to flash sooner than we think if they can play. He played 13 games at North Dakota State, both those factors put him behind typical success markers for QBs. A success story would make him an outlier, but that’s why he wasn’t a high round pick in the 1st place. I think we’ll know if we have something pretty quickly, and by 2027 we’ll know more about what that something is.

I think the hype of heading into that week 1 game to see this new offense is going to be up there with Chip Kelly's first game. That game was crazy in hindsight too because it came out with all this inventive crap and then never went back to any of it again the rest of Chip Kelly's tenure here.

I think Dalton is the front runner to be the back up QB.

Man Wemby is ridiculous. Like holy F.

He's probably excited to get into the Beavers.

I'm not ranking these, but 5 needs to be changed to Carter missing a wide open net in OT from point blank range.

Ronde Barber pick 6 in the nfccg to close down the Vet should be #1
