Everything I have seen has DAL winning 7 to 10 games...possibly making the playoffs, possibly. I haven't read anything that says they are a contender, I am sure there are some "influencers" out there with some biased hot takes thinking DAL has a real shot but intelligent football people surely aren't that gullible.

The DAL schedule is pretty rough, yeh they get more rest on average between games but they are also are dealing with:

  1. Top four in miles traveled

  2. Of their seven toughest opponents six of those games are on the road

  3. Went from 5th easiest schedule last year to the 4th most difficult in '26 (this is not scientific since schedule difficulty ratings this early are subjective to anticipated wins vs previous years performance).

Anyone writing or proclaiming DAL is a contender right now is simply biased. Is there reason for fans to be more excited than last year? Sure. Does excitement equate to success on the field and in the W/L column? Hell no, definitely not in year 1 of a complete defensive rebuild. Will they be fun to watch? I suppose, we'll see. I think more questions about the defense make it a more entertaining season, just trying to figure out who is going to stick and play well vs who the also rans are...

Best I would expect them to do this year as of right now is 9-8, maybe 10-7, and losing in the WC if they even make it to the post-season. Anything more is unexpected. The NFC is better now than it has been in recent years imo.

I think the bet some pundits are making is that the defense will go from worst to middle of the pack and there won't be a drop off from the offense. If you combine that with the questions the Eagles have on offense and the lack of other great competition in the division, it's easy to see them winning the NFC East. Vegas has their over/under currently at 9.5 wins.

They have to slob Jerrys knob. And like you said its about eyeballs not brain cells

Even if they're putting that much though into it, they're completely ignoring the massive increase in schedule difficulty. It's all upside projection - offense stays top of league, defense makes massive jump with marginal at best personnel improvement and a new coordinator.

As I've said many times on here, the major networks and national media will always ALWAYS push propaganda for LA, NY, and to a lesser extent Boston, and for the NFL with Dallas because Dallas is the NFL's cash cow.

The goal is to create an air of optimism which maximizes interest in the teams that have the highest earning potential. Of course they aren't going to trash Dallas before the season, because they want maximum interest going into the season of the NFL's highest valued franchise.

Some more fun bets on over/under.

Raiders - over 5.5 wins. Cousins/Mendoza should make them more respectable.

Saints - over 7.5 wins. I think they have a chance to win that division.

Patriots - under 9.5. Real schedule this year and overhyped.

Bears - under 9.5. They are this year's Commanders.

Cowboys - under 9.5. Already discussed.

Chiefs - under 10.5. Team is completely devoid of talent, and Mahomes coming back from ACL.

I've never understood how a team with their current record of the last couple of decades could be the cash cow of the multibillion league

The whole "America's team" is such BS

Jerry is a marketing genius, and he prioritizes drama and exposure over winning. On top of that, he somehow gets away with being incredibly cheap while creating a narrative that he desperately wants to win.

But the Cowboys are like Howard Stern in the late 80s and 90s. Fans love them, and haters tune in to watch them fail. Almost everyone has an opinion on the team.

Under for the Patriots is the easiest bet of the year. That team is going to be a train wreck.

Ship just took us right up close to lady liberty. They haven't done this on other cruises I've been on out of Bayonne.

Well, ESPN's Football Power Index had them as SB favorites even after they were eliminated from post season contention, so...

Perhaps ESPN needs to increase their use of Artificial Intelligence when it comes to the Cowboys? Their Natural Intelligence seems to be lacking.😊

I agree with your patriots and bears takes. That's why I really hope they get the patriots 1 or 2 in this draft, it's gonna be high. At least top 12 and maybe even top 10, I think they're gonna be awful this year. The only thing saving them from being a sure fire top 10 is that they get to play 4 games against the jets and dolphins, so they're already spotted 4 projected wins.

You're also spot on that last year's bears are the 2024 commies. Unsustainable luck.

Panthers are in a similar boat, they're gonna revert back to being awful this year

And honestly, London really isn't that different than a trip to LA for the Eagles. 7 hour flight to London vs. 5 hours to LA, but with the gametime, they should be back home in Philly Sunday night. If they leave London after the game, should be home around 10pm on Sunday. Coming back from LA, they would get in later since game wouldn't even be over until ~7:30pm EDT, so likely land in Philly well after midnight.

This could all be fixed if the NFL did the smart thing for the players and safety…week 7/8 or 8/9 are the only bye weeks. Sure they’ll ’lose’ revenue for 2 weeks that they’ll make up later. Been saying this for years…it makes too much sense though.

Panthers will be intriguing to watch. If young comes out on fire, i expect them to have similar success this upcoming season. If he starts slow again, i expect a dramatic season long story on him getting benched for them to tank for a new QB. He’s not going to have a long leash. They’re talented on both sides of the ball, quite young on both sides as well. Added a lot of good pieces this off season too.

Yes, something is sacred to them, m-o-n-e-y.

Strange overall schedule but I'm ok with it. I'd rather have a few more normal Sunday games but the Thanksgiving game will be a ton of fun especially if we have had a good season to that point.

I'm not jazzed with having an international game though I might be able to go to it.

It absolutely is. They have their merchandise in most stores that sell NFL stuff, they get hyped in the media, and on Thanksgiving. That's all that props them up.

Schedule release followed by a ton of reporters prognosticating on results that 1) don’t consider or inadequately consider offseason acquisitions and losses etc.; 2) don’t account for all the offseason changes, for example, in the NFCE only two of eight DCs/OCs are returning and the changes at position coaches accompanying those adjustments; 3) player development or regression; 4) impact of existing injuries or injuries that may develop; 5) team power ratings at this point without even Phase III of the offseason program being completed. I have reached a point in my grumpy old man stage where I would even read those articles.

A small business that isn't so small for a week. I wonder how long their washers and dryers last - unless they're commercial machines.
