Jordan Davis probably loses a ton of value with a scheme change.

Pretty sure we'd need to change the defense personnel again if we go back to Schwartz though

I dont see why. Our edges are already undersized, so theyre pretty perfect fits already for wide 9. Nolan Smith and Hunt coming off the edges out wide like that would probably be great. Even our little guy that just played last week who is super quick.... its ideally suited for them. Maybe even Campbell as well.

We finally have LBs, and we also have DTs who can play anywhere along the line.

The sticks defense was spectacularly successful, and the only reason so many people complained about it is because they were dumb. However, I did agree with the argument that it was sometimes used at stupid times. Like, 3rd and 20, 10 yards gets the team in FG range, but we are in Sticks defense happy to stop them at 18 yards... still give up points. Should have stuck with a real defense there maybe....

Agreed times he shouldn’t have used it and employed a better defense. But frankly i think bigger issue we had was people constantly complained about our corners playing off 7-10 yards which was more a product of what corners we had then. Sadly they were average or even at times bad with injuries.

Imo Schwartz after 2017 got more from less out of the defense. They had guys banged up or just had the talent level drop off over time

That would create a cap credit if it applies. My best guess is ~$15mm for 2027 that just increases overall cap space.

I kind of figured. But even so, its all relative right? So creating that invisible cap space (that doesnt exist for other teams) from insurance money still serves to make the dead cap a smaller percentage of the whole picture.

So even if we cant apply it directly to pay down dead cap.... its still creating more favorable terms in the equation for how Howie views the dead cap. Is it not?

He’s the guy that gets hurt the most. Frankly if they knew they were going to switch to a Schwartz defense i think they look to keep Milton williams or Ojomo over Davis

Makes you feel confident lol

thats certainly better than not being fixable. Im excited!

Is it possible to wear out a punter?

Yes. it happened last week. we saw those 2 horrible punts.

Absolutely not - even cutting him this offseason as a post June 1 is damn near impossible. $43.5mm in total dead money. $29.4mm in 2027 which is a net hit over $18mm.

Would have to be a trade.

damnit, Howie!!!🤣🤣

Too late now, but yeah, I’d keep Milt and sign Moro over giving Davis that contract.

Damnit, Howie!!

Or 2017? Or even 2022 where they went to the Super Bowl and got hosed? Or the fact that they have been one of the winningest organizations in 2000's with victories, playoff appearances and playoff victories? No GM is perfect, hindsight is indeed 20/20 and honestly, we were due for a clunker.

Just calling it as I see it. He deserves a lot of praise for those accomplishments. But right now, it's not looking good and can be back to being criticized. It's very fair. This will be 2 years of not getting it done to the standard. And I think we have 2 more coming. I hope not. But got to be realistic. I think we tear it down before trade deadline and just build it back up ASAP. '28 draft is too long to wait to start this. Hope he can accelerate this and stockpile for 2027 as well. And that's the best way to do so.

Salary cap is effed, so can't rely much on free agency. We may be paying for our sins finally for how he has structured contracts and all the dead cap space we accumulated. Eventually, you pay the bill. So that's our only route pretty much is to build thru the draft or we will be stuck here with dead weight and peaked out players, low picks and UDFAs you never heard of, playing everywhere.

But the bottom line, after 2024, who didn't see this as a potential dynasty with that young defense they had and how dominant they were? Everyone was convinced we were set for years. Feels like a tear down job and we are starting over, coming soon. From coaching on down. I think this is Howie's toughest job yet, especially with uncertain Hurts situation.

Mannion = Patullo? Or worse. Or does he get a mulligan due to the Offensive injuries. If he’s not adjusting his play calling, from series to series, quarter to quarter, or from game to game, then he needs to be fired tomorrow. IMO.

I think people have written Greenard off too soon because they're allowing their misery on the season to snowball. It's gotten off to a bad start, but I still believe in the player when healthy. He just needs to get healthy, but when he is he's very good. The health stuff is unpredictable.

Mannion probably sucks and/or he just isn't ready yet, but also let's be real the Eagles have been good one season offensively under Sirianni and Hurts which was 2022. Even in 2024 only their running game was good, but their offense overall for most of the regular season had the fans concerned and left wanting.

So either the Eagles just keep hiring coaches who suck or there's a lot more to it than just bad coordinators.

Yes please. I actually think woolen could have a bidding war cause the lions badly need corners. I also think teams like KC, Carolina, jags and bills would all be interested

Crazy denver is 3rd

Joe webb was a leading candidate for head coaching jobs and they have Payton

Also they were just in the conference championship and probably win if nix didn't get hurt

Spitters are quitters

It provides more cap room overall to take on a potential dead cap hit.

Frankly their schedule against defenses gets easier next couple weeks outside of KC. Have cardinals, Carolina and Vegas. Id bet it looks better after that stretch. Heck after that stretch, they play the Steelers. But then, they got Miami, Jets, Vegas again and then Buffalo. I’d be surprised if they aren’t much better by years end

No offense but if you've never watched NBA basketball in your life how do you know who's the greatest or not based on 1 play you saw? 😆😆

Yeah, it was sarcasm. I was just impressed with the way he took away their safe option and manipulated them into a long pass knowing Maxey would have a chance to jump it. It won't show up the stat sheet but it put a big nail in the Knicks coffin.

As you stated, I know nothing but it just seemed like some GOAT level instinct.
