Outplayed Mahomes once.

I love the fallacy that he outplayed Mahomes in the first Superbowl. Why? Because he threw for more yards? Mahomes completed almost 80% of his passes, threw 3 TDs, went 13-14 in the 2nd half, and they scored 17 points in the 4th quarter. And you know what he didn't do? Have a crippling, game changing fumble when nobody touched him. Was Hurts bad? No, of course he wasn't. He was borderline spectacular, but he did not "outplay" Mahomes.

I don't like him. I have a long history on here of being overly hard on the guy which was wrong. Still don't but it's so bad on here even I'm defending him. I forget who posted it today, but it's been said a few times the last week that he only won a SB because he had the best RB season in decades and a good OL. OK....and what exactly did that RB do in the SB? Not much because the Chiefs shut him down and Hurts made plays with his legs for massive first downs and threw passes like the dagger to Smith. The hatred is so strong for him that they want to write off the plays he made to keep the offense on the field when he had no run game. He's not elite but we were lucky to have him because once again Jackson in Baltimore or Dak in Dallas or CJ in Houston or Geoff with an amazing OC and team never did.

Preach brotha preach. Objectivity and common sense is at a premium on this board.

Would be bizarre if Devonta and Wicks don't play. Then why did they play last week? Reeks of them rushing them out of desperation.

I think it's concensus not just here but globally. That is false. But I'm not gonna argue there. He was almost perfect and they don't lose that game, without a defense that couldn't hold a lead and that committed a key penalty. They failed him in that game. Period.

On paper, I agree with this. In practice, I don't always agree, but I'm not who you were responding to.

When I think of 'outplayed', I think of situations where the QBs actually get to duel effectively. It's kind of on their shoulders. 2022 was like that. 2017 was also like that.

2024 was not like that. The defense destroyed Mahomes so thoroughly that pretty much any non-choking competent QB would have outplayed him. It was not on the QBs shoulders. The defense alone had scored more points than Mahomes' offense did by the time they benched the starting defense. He kind of outplayed Mahomes just by showing up.

2022 on the other hand, it was on his shoulders and he absolutely outplayed him in the traditional way. But he didn't win.

Wrong. Barkley was a non factor in that game. True. Offense didn't have to do as much as they put a stanglehold early in that one. And decided to not rub it in after a huge lead. They took the foot off the gas pedal and were merely killing the clock for at least a quarter. Hurts would have put up all kinds of stats in that game if they had to play real offense for 4 quarters. He played a helluva game. I like the revisionist history in here to minimize everything he has done.

Hurts hatred has reached a point that we want to go against accepted history by Eagles fans, national media, and ex players who made statements after the game for the last few years.

Yes. Greenard is very limited. This guy is a flat out BUST. Thanks Howie!

Because basically the entire offensive performance was Jalen. Take a look at the rushing stats in the game?

Chiefs had a running game. What did Jalen's RBs do? Who was the rushing leader for the Eagles?

Jalen was basically the entirety of that offense that day. The only notable mistake he made in the entire game WAS the fumble. The defense did nothing and got smoked by the exact same play mirrored once, three times. The person who wins the SB isn't always the QB that plays the best.

I wonder how many of them will watch the video I posted from LIX and try to say Hurts didn't make great throws and play his ass off with no run game.

Thinking about this game, and assuming the goal is to win, I think we need to see Vic dial up the pressure. Tampa owned the Cowboys with blitzes that Dak and the OL couldn't handle. Gannon (yes really) schooled them by loading the box and varying between 4, 5 and 6 man pressures. It's against Vic's DNA of take no risk, keep things in front of you. But I'd like to see them send pressure and play a little tighter on the outside, force Dak to put the ball at risk.

Basically what other teams keep doing to our inept offense.

Stop making sense. Your high football IQ is not really relevant on this MB. 🦅🏈🏄

Not looking like a great trade. The third this year hurts.

Defense won 2024. Anyone not biased knows that. Shutout from Q1 through most of 3. That was a beautiful performance by the defense

The hate is real. And they will be crying in their beer with what's coming. And look even more stupid. Need to take the big fat L sometimes. And they just aren't capable.

You need to reread my post. I said any decent QB that didn't choke could have outplayed Mahomes that day because he got obliterated and outscored by the defense alone until the starters got sat. This is not revisionist, I'm explaining what I consider 'out-dueling'.

Don't just react to the part that you don't like and stop reading my post.

Basically, we really have nothing else to do. So, yeah. 🙃😊🦮

Cooper getting that pick 6 as a rookie was just awesome

"Any decent QB" is you minimizing his impact. Only 15 decent ones out there in the world. So that's just speculative kind of phrasing. The fact is, he did that in spades. And looked really good from the eye test.

Here is a reminder for the haters who are so spoiled and blinded with hatred that they can't even give the guy the respect he deserves.

A game manager that doesn't turn the ball over and just gives the ball to the playmakers likely wins in 2024 with that defense

2022 was different. Hurts played great

The dagger was the moment we all knew it was over. Best SB I've ever watched.

The loudest people in here are usually wrong in here. They want to dictate the narrative. And wrong over and over again defending their losing arguments. It's laughable. The same 5 guys are generally wrong. When Hurts wins a superbowl in 2025 against a mini dynasty team with the so called goat, that has HOF coaches in Andy Reid and Spags, you need to be honest and stick your tail between your legs and simply say that you are

In 2025? You're pretty loud yourself. You're constantly going at anyone that doesn't praise Hurts lol
