The great Justin Herbert. So impressive Mike McDaniel chose him over Hurts. The great Justin Herbert scored 14 points in a 12 point loss to the Cardinals today.

I picked the Chargers in my survivor pool at work so that loss is on me.

Considering we have a new OC, new WRs, and the starters don’t play at all in the preseason, that wasn’t a terrible first win. Offensive line isn’t as terrible as they played today. I believe a lot of those pressures and busted run assignments were contributed to some confusion about the scheme and run concepts. You could see them messing up blocks, even Lane had a couple. I think getting stuff on tape and getting things cleaned up will allow this offense to get better and better. Defense will be great not worried about them at all

He saw the field. 1 rush, 3 yards. Also KO returner.

using him. but not using him.

It was a win but Im not sure @schuy7 should be allowed to attend another game.

The Commies with a bad o-line had a good running day against our vaunted defense. Very very disappointing.

They look better because daniels got away from at least 5 sacks. If almost anyone else was the QB, you'd be singing a different tune.

Rushing D could've been better, 132 yards and 31 were daniels scrambles. The other 3 RBs combined for 101. Not great but not terrible.

My issue was Mannion wasn't even play design it was it felt like he called plays kinda scared. A lot of stuff around the LOS. Enough of that crap. Same BS as last year. You gotta live or die letting your QB rip it.

And I don't think they did nearly enough to manufacture touches for Devonta. Get the ball in his hands. I'm not stunned at how few touches he had though I was less bullish on him than others who were picking him to have like 1500 yards this season, but I think with AJ gone teams will key in on him a lot more to negate some of that "He'll get all of those extra touches now!"

Such an ignorant comment with absolutely no context. I can do the same. Why didn't Mike McDaniel choose Carson Wentz and his 39 points off the bench? They may have scored 60 with McDaniel dialing up the offense.

Get bent you f’n loser - Hurts with 3 TD passes and a win today and your hero ****s and took the L

I vote yes, at the end of the day it was still a win

Well, we all expected growing pains with a new offense. But not being able to pick up a 1st down for most of the game is probably MUCH worse than we should have been expecting to see.

Im finding it difficult to find reason for optimism with the offense next week. We have 3 explosive plays and absolutely nothing else.

It NEVER looked like it was building momentum, and coming together, like they were about to put a drive together. Not once all game.

I picked the Cowboys but I won't mind if I get eliminated with it.

ok.

But we have seen this movie before. Like every season for the past 3 in a row now?

Its really old. I wanted a better performance from @schuy7

Offense needs work BUT, Hurts played extremely well.

The defense played well. I am not worried about the lack of sacks against a qb they held to less than 175 yards passing.

The offense should not have had the struggles it did running the ball. They have no idea how to run a screen. Dickerson was routinely beat by mediocre to bad players. Barkley getting trucked on the blitz pick up wasn’t good.

Roob is on TV saying he didnt expect Hurts to look this comfortable in the offense. He was poised, comfortable, and confident.

lol.

Hurts is who he is. Once he takes a couple hits he’s going to look to run after his first read isn’t there. It’s his 7th season, 6th as a starter. He’s not going to change.

For the offense to work, the interior OL needs to be better to get the north/south run game going. It’s a must. Someone(s) needs benched if it continues to look like last year.

Also, just to clarify, Hurts was great today. Goedert was a beast,

I don’t think anything the offense got right today is reliably reproducible against an even average defense. I think they have an average to bad offensive line trending towards bad. I think Wicks had his Travis Fulgham moment today. And I think this offense has a real talent deficiency.

That said, they scored 24 points in a win with far more explosive plays than we saw in most games last year…all in their first and only live action with a new offensive system. Hurts unquestionably made the most of his opportunities, showed no issues with ball security in a new offense, and was the player of the game.

The defenses will only get tougher, but their comfort will get better.

It’s a perfectly good week 1 win…the win wasn’t ugly enough to actually create things to complain about. But it also wasn’t strong enough to dispel any pre-existing concerns from 2025 and the offseason.

Time will tell.

What was with the lack of play action bootlegs today? That is a staple in this scheme. Ran a lot preseason but I didn't recall seeing many today if any.

Let me help with the optimism. We play the Titans!

I got this skeleton for Halloween the other day. Till its time to put him outside, I've been putting him in funny places inside the house the past few days. The kids are having fun with it.

Today I dressed him up for the game.

This is how I felt watching the offense.

file_00000000662081f58c961edc1639521d.png

offense is still not capable of putting drives together & owning the time of possession…just like last season.

I thought Hurts looked pretty good today. Maybe as in control as he’s played since 2022.

But we gotta do something about this OL man…

I didn’t even think of that GIF. Well done, sir.

Did Hollywood Brown or Darius Cooper get any snaps at all today? Really hate how they used Lemon too. Feels like we have so many weapons and different and diverse ways to attack a defense and we didn’t use any of them. That’s my biggest gripe about today
