It looked like a potential read option on the left side (Hunt's right) He jumped out there so quickly he cut off Daniels' running room, but was also perfectly in the passing lane to the guy in the flat that people say we forgot to cover. At the time Daniels had him as an option, he was covered. hunt forced him to progress to the shovel pass option which obviously was stopped by great plays from Carter and Ojomo.he played the space and forced Daniels to make the decision on which way to toss beautifully. I know there’s still shots of the back being ‘wide open’. But that was after Daniels made the decision to pitch inside. Admittedly, it was the wrong decision from a numbers perspective, but the 2 pt conversion was defended very well.
September 14Sep 14 I hated how they used Lemon. I guess they're still working out the kinks of the Oline. Some times Hurts had all the time in the world and other times pressure broke through. That quote by Lane made it seem like the Oline would have an easier time though
September 14Sep 14 Author I agree that Dickerson is an issue unto itself. However, my take on the OL in general was lack of live ammo during the summer. Or at least this type of ammo. I doubt they were simulating the entire menu of alignments and blitzes that they faced yesterday. This will be a journey.

Youd think that if the eagles cut off the front side of that read option so well, it would have left a gap up the middle with that TE creeping in from the opposite side.Eagles D is really good.

I even saw people talking about a future at LB of Campbell and Trott Jr. with them moving on from Baun in the not-too-distant future.Baun pulled a page straight out of 2024 yesterday. And Campbell had coverage mishaps, but was outstanding around the LOS. He actually looked like a bit of an edge out there.yep.

But I know one of those throws Wicks totally missed the block so Lemon never had a chance.

Conversely, I thought Fangio called a very conservative game and these late fills might have been a function of those calls.I thought Mannion called the game super conservative as well. The whole game looked like a test run for all the new pieces. While i think the OL play leaves some big concerns for the future, Saleh and Co are going to look at tape and find basically nothing to help them prepare. It was super vanilla and looked like an install and test of basic core concepts.

Hes a rotation player.Smith was fantastic yesterday too. He might be a rotational player, but the edges kept contain very well and bottled up some potential huge plays. The DT’s were in the backfield basically the second the ball was snapped all day, creating a bit of a dilemma for the LB’s. Most of the damage was Daniel’s getting his and up the middle. There was no corner to turn all day from the edges.

I've lost faith at this point.

I’m not sure if he was hearing footsteps all day, because he got pressured and rocked all day. Early penetration really blew that play up quickly, but a split second longer and he could have got somebody to over commit and potentially get a 1 on 1 look.

He’s never going to be a top tier edge for sure, but his athletic profile is hard to find…and if yesterday is an indication of things to come, he’s figured out how to play under control a lot better. Like Dean, i think he’s about to get a thank you for your service and overpaid somewhere else.

If Hurts is still making protection calls, it’s a learning experience for him as well.

Obviously, how they use a rookie player in his first real NFL game is going to evolve. But it's not encouraging. Also, of course he's lining up in the slot. But where he's actually targeted...exclusively at the LOS on slowly developing plays to get him running behind blockers....they'd have been better off lining up Moore in the slot and drafting some undersized third down scat running back in the 4th or 5th round for those behind the LOS targets.

Had he waited longer, it likely messes up the timing for the shovel option. He hit that on time but the DL just blew it up.After the shovel, Im not sure what the next progression would have been. That was already option 3 on a play from the 2 yard line.

The 3rd qtr first 3 drives were 3 punts, 9 plays. The offensive line was dominated. Amazing we even won this game with bottom of the league Offensive line play. Teams are going crowd the line and attack it until we prove otherwise.
September 14Sep 14 McLane said DeJean looked a little hobbled early in the game, wonder if he was playing through something. Also remember seeing him look super jacked during offseason workout videos so I hope he didn't put on weight that lessened his explosiveness.
September 14Sep 14 So we don't actually know that they have other options along the OL. Given that the OL was bad last year (and they kind of had no choice but to run it back with the same 5), so much hype went into Kendall and Lampkin as "the difference" because the depth was so much better. One is a 2nd year UDFA while the other is a 2nd year 5th round pick. Just because a bunch of people said they had nice camps doesn't mean you actually want either one as a starting OL on this team. Neither are or ever will be a road grader, so we can forget about recreating 2024 running game and Barkley by making that switch. Bell and Morris are fun prospects, but they aren't ready to play this year.So it's not as simple as just benching Dickerson and/or Jurgens.

So that may have taken away a bunch of under center play action then.Given that I don't remember any bootleg, the under-center runs don't get +1 effect for the rQB. Also, all the blitzing while primarily aimed at speeding Jalen up also play havoc with the OZ due to the quick penetration.Still think we need the hot reads, and a way to defeat the blitz through short passing.

What Purdy did on Thursday against the Rams doesnt exist in a Hurts offense. Hopefully Mannion can teach him.

If you take away the Jurgens penalties there wasn’t anything glaring from his performance, without having dug through the film. Dickerson however in space can’t move which without some help isn’t sustainable.

Yeah, we've seen that movie.
