About 1-2 successful drafts.

Or maybe bench a guy and play his backup to start

Hard to say how the rest of the season will go but we were very fortunate that Diggs is an idiot. Otherwise it's overtime with our exhausted defense.

Some thoughts before I stop faking that I am working:

  • The OL had their first proper snaps since January and it showed. Am sure Dickerson in particular is having a moment on if this is really it.? But its week 1 too and the tape should hopefully be a good teaching for them. Have to improve

  • Good and bad Jalen appeared. For every the lovely deep pass, we had the short arming of other passes. His running helps him and the team get out of jail - massively. Not the issue

  • Mannion was ok for the first game but this can't be it. Much more to do, especially in the run game, It looked like arse at times

  • The D was it but got gassed because of the O doing little. Can see ifs coached by someone with a lot of experience

  • The Commie D spent the offseason planning for that game; worth keeping in mind with their performance. Showed a lot and with a new OC, stressed them in many ways

The the team got through the week, lots of tape is there for the starters to look at and it should be a lot better next week.

Wonder how Wicks is feeling today. Probably looking for a trade.

Baun was great yesterday

Dickerson needs to retire.

Let's hope they figure it out and quickly this year

Amen! You can say that again brother!

If they run them again next week, I'll be sure to repeat it. They need to hear it.

Final Eaglrs-Commanders Game Score Prediction Results

It was a nail biter rather than a walk on the beach, but when all the dust settled, this week's chicken dinner winner is ...

... a three-way tie between @Asg 15 (24-21), @Wallyhorse (also 24-21), and @Shalodeep (24-23). @aptosbird was close behind with his 17-15 prediction

It was a very thin week for Bonus picks. Only three were correct:

@FranklinFldEBUpper with "Eagles trail at some point in the first half"

@Talonblood with "Barkley breaks a 40+ yard run." and

@BDawk_ASamuel with "Wicks TD"

We had an all-time high of 102 predictions submitted with 99 for an Eagles win and 3 for a Commies win. The average predicted score was Eagles 28 Commies 14.

Here is the final list of the 102 predictions and bonuses:

My bonus pick was correct. Hurts threw three TDs.

If this is cultural, Darwin was proven right again.

As I mentioned last night, I’m willing to give Mannion and the offense time to come together. Fully expected that coming in to the year.

What I’m not willing to have a long leash on is Landon Dickerson.

If they do this same weak D, loyal to a fault nonsense with him this year it will be an infuriating season to watch. To me, he gets the first Q next week, and if he still looks like the walking dead, he gets the hook.

Chatted it up with a cute waitress at the casino last night. Exchanged a "Go Birds” with another Eagles fan as well. Survived two social interactions without imploding. I also lost all my money, but I feel good. Been a while since I could say that.

So naturally, we lose by 30 today. 😂

Hang in there. Focus on the positive. crap can feel like quicksand if you stare at your feet so try to keep your head up and keep a look out for all the good around you.

I like to see the snapcounts, but my guess is that it was 3 DT rotation. JC in particular seemed the most worn out and favoring a hurt hand. In a game where the Commanders were intent on running the ball, did Epenesa get any work? Long story short, the defense almost let this one go against an OL in shambles - so the one criticism I have for Vic is the lack of rotation particularly on warm/humid day. Perhaps he sees it as early season character/endurance building, but it was a theme last year as well.

His play was definitely concerning. The OL played poorly generally, but he was the weakest out of all of them.

Bo Wulf was saying his expectations would go way up if Jalen threw a curve ball and belufht back the mustache for the opener.

So.... he identifies as Canadian now?

Does that say more about Lemon, or more about the team’s approach to screen passes? … as illustrated by the graphic below.

I think the fact that they are losing yards on passes at the LOS says something about the OL and the blocking of skill play. And the fact that Lemon is unusable beyond the LOS right now says something about him.

A couple of things I noticed.......

  1. Dejean looked out of place bad - I called this out during the game. I'd like to think it's because they have him doing just too much, not that he partied all summer and got an STD (Sexually Transmitted Dallas D) from the Cowboys Cheerleader.

  2. The Offensive line was just offensive

  3. The Defensive line while creating pressure didn't perform as expected. Now the only caveat I have here is that with Daniels, they were hesitant and did more a of mush rush to try and not lose contain (which they still did).

  4. Safety, not a problem other than having to play Coop at Safety in base moving him out of his natural slot position. I'd try and trade for a Safety, move Coop back to slot and this secondary could easily be the best in the NFL. Between Woolen and Mitchell...damn!

  5. Baun? He's here, he's there, he's everyf'in where Zach Baun, Zach Baun......

They are 1-0, but I do not think the coaches will have any issues having film this week to show the team on things to improve! But on a positive note, we aren't the Cowboys, Rams or New England LMAO

The telegraphed swing passes were the most dispiriting part of last night, it is ridiculous that I can still see it coming a mile away just like the last 4 OC's, this has to be better this year, if Mannion is an offensive guru in waiting, the offense has to to look better and more different than that last night.

The preseason and Game 1 have not been a great advert for Mannion at all.

I'm not sure how you can say that since they did actually have a 2-pt conversion attempt later and it failed

Did they change the definition of "unusable" to "not thrown to?" Just asking ... I can't keep up with all the new ways we use old words.

I expect improvement on passes at the LOS. Either the players will improve their blocking or Mannion won't call those plays. There was one play where Wicks completely whiffed on his block but, had he made it, the play would have been a TD.

I guess 3 throw aways aren’t counted… the picture it paints is that Week 1 offense looks a lot like the Week 1 offense from last season.

Has he been used beyond the LOS yet?

My football team over here changed head coaches over the summer and with a new playing style, it's been a bit choppy at times. Early on, some players looked like they were overthinking things and not read/reacting; as time is going on, things are better, but they still have periods in games where you think, WTF are you doing. I suspect what we see in 2 or 3 weeks time on O will be a lot better than we saw last night.

To give some respect to Dickerson, perhaps he's adjusting to a different style of OL play and needs time to get confident in his body and what he's technically doing.

Daniels is one of the most elusive QB's they'll play all year. The pressure was good, but they did a poor job finishing. Much of that may have been Daniels.

Curious to see if the rush brings home more sacks once they get passed that.
