Mekhi Becton is still a free agent. I'm not saying the Eagles should sign him, but teams all over the league have major OL issues. I wonder what's going on here.

I think with Becton, he had 1 good year on a great team and didn't set the world on fire with the Chargers and has the knee injury too. Someone may be desperate enough to take a look, but not sure it'll happen any time soon

The TE situation is kind of in a limbo situation. TE1 has injury and age issues. TE2 is for blocking. TE3 is still learning as a rookie. We also have Calcaterra on the IR to return, whose specialty is receiving. It looks like they are waiting for the rookie to be ready. Terra as a Plan C as receiving TE. Ertz is way down on the list. If TE1 was injured in early season, Ertz could jump up on the list.

TE has been a feature position in many teams and has good results. The Eagles also use TE but not getting the focus and/or urgency on stuffing the pipeline.

I'm surprised Goederts blocking hasn't been a focal point of discussion this offseason. It was bad last year. Some theorized it was due to him taking a pay cut and he may not have been as motivated in past years but given he's back for even cheaper, he might just not have it anymore.

I think it's just a result of him getting older, so I don't expect his blocking to markedly improve but perhaps he might spend more time on the backside of run plays with Mundt onboard.

Well we can only go off the super vanilla PS play, but it looks like a layered approach. It seems like the mantra is take the easiest option and get down without doing anything dumb and onto the next play. I think DG and Co are going to feast over the middle. The O is going to be a serious stress on LB’s to read run/pass correctly.

Using the middle of the field will be a welcomed change for PHI fans. I wouldn't call it feasting necessarily, I would refer to it as using all of the plate vs 3/4 of it. It should definitely open up the rest of the offense and be less predictable.

Running the ball & dinking and dunking isn't revolutionary but like any other scheme it works if executed well and the talent is available to exploit it... yada, yada. If we run the ball effectively that's the big win, if we can use more of the field in the passing game that will also add a dimension. We'll see.

Something is going on there. Our OG situation is not good. Seems like it would be unwise to expect much from Dickerson this year. Steen is in the last year of his contract (and it's noteworthy he's being allowed to play through the last year of his contract with no peep from anyone that he should be extended).

Meanwhile, Becton was legitimately outstanding here 1 year ago. Granted, he was b-a-d last year. But no one, us included, has any interest.

Don’t forget that Jenkins is also on the roster. In Week One I expect Goedert, Mundy, and Jenkins to be active.

Easy for Jeff McClane to not be surprised now after the fact, but I don't think one beat writer had EJ Jenkins making the roster. With how he was dropping passes, it's in the conversation to run out a 6th OLmen as an alternative.

I remember that post. Said that he was here for his blocking. Did it really say he was the best blocking TE though? I dont recall that part.

My take on his take was that he probably forgot Mundt was even here. 1. Mundt is pretty forgettable. 2. Especially after not playing at all in pre-season because he is technically a starter.

I dont recall any other post throughout all of camp saying EJ was outperforming anyone at all, nor anyone saying anything at all negatively about Mundt or even speaking on his blocking.

I spent most of the offseason believing Becton would not be a fit for the system. Then, they became a bit more of a downhill running team letting their big guys beat the man in front of him. And by the end of pre-season, especially after seeing Markelle Bell thrive, I believe that Becton would be absolutely perfect here.

What is happening though, is that he was reportedly "back to his old ways". So I suppose his weight is out of control again and he is out of shape.

I think Ertz isn't ready to play yet. Also, I am not sure how he adds to the team. He is not the blocker that Goedert is and I don't think he's a big improvement over Calcaterra.

been about 2 weeks since the report that Ertz has been fully cleared to play.

He was still productive up until his injury. There is probably a team with a bigger need than us who should take a chance on him.

I imagine we would be pretty low on his list of options. If he has a list. Then again maybe no one is interested.

I think we have better depth at the position than we did last season. It seems like Kendall and Lampkin would be able to provide adequate help in spot starts. The question is whether Dickerson is what he was last season or can return to closer to what he was in 2024. I think we also look at the Eagles' roster too myopically. Look around the League. Trevor Keegan is the back up OG in Dallas. Look at who is backing up Alaric Jackson in LA. Look at what the Commanders have in place of Tunsil. The Eagles have a pretty good top 9. It's not like the Eagles' roster is worse than other teams.
