Well, I hope I am wrong, for you as well as DAL, but it does appear to be a trend.

I drafted Dak in my money league last night.

@Joe Ball

Two things we pretty much know. The Eagles defense should be very good. The Dallas offense should be really good.

I think the division will come down to the team that improves their weakness last year. Can the Eagles offense improve with Mannion and no AJ ? Can the Dallas defense improve with a new coordinator and some new pieces ?

I think both will be true and it will clearly be a 2 team race in the NFC East. Washington and the Giants just have too many holes.

I hope that I am wrong and Dallas has everything bad happen to them and they implode.

I haven't seen hype necessarily, I have seen a few writers hoping. They are hoping that the defense is much improved. I haven't seen any kind of preseason rankings or analysts talking them up. My online exposure is very limited to whatever is of interest to me at a given time, I am sure there are plenty of Cowboy Kool-Aid connoisseurs out there claiming they are going to be great I just haven't read it, I avoid that crap.

If they can be anywhere from 18th to 22nd that will be significant improvement and maybe enough to give Dak a chance to bomb in the WC round.

I mean, the whole "we just need an average defense to contend" thing is also ridiculous. Dak had the 7th, 5th and 5th ranked scoring defenses in 2021, 2022 and 2023, respectively, and they didn't win crap. In 2021 they were the #1 offense (31.2 PPG), 4th in 2022 (27.5 PPG) and 1st in 2023 (29.9 PPG). Last year they were 7th at 27.7 PPG.

So with a worse offense than 2021 and 2023 (slightly better than 2027) and an average defense, they're a threat? But they had better offenses and top 7 defenses from 2021-2023 and won a single playoff game.

It's insanity.

Making the WC round is not contending...

@mattwill

11-6

The defense will only be special if it can create frequent and opportunistic turnovers like they did in 2024. The defense was excellent down the stretch and into the postseason in getting the ball away that year. Those turnovers were really lacking last year. One takeaway (no pun intended) from the preseason seemed to show an emphasis on attacking the ball. If the secondary can finally hold onto passes, I expect good things.

It's also funny when people will post the most negative stuff, downplaying or ignoring any positive, and say "I'm just being realistic."

No, that's pessimism, thinking the worst all the time. Realistic is balanced, looking at all the factors including positive ones. Having excessive anxiety (about a sports team for entertainment btw), constantly harping on the negative, calling a game over in the 1st series of the game, panicking anytime the other team makes a good play (other teams can make good plays and win games too you know), calling the season over after 1 loss, frothing at the mouth hating on everything...that's not "just being realistic." That's not "we're just passionate." No, that's anxiety and extreme, extreme negativity. Get some help.

yup...the fact that the same Blog trolls came in the day after the SB to start a debate over whether Hurts TD throw to DaVonta was underthrown is enough for me...

True. Historical season from a RB and oline played out of this world

@mattwill feels like an 11-6 season.

I think the division will be close, DAL will likely get to 9-10 wins, but Jerry will do something to throw his players under the bus and sap their mojo.

I'm still going to predict the Giants finish last in the division. I think Daniels is better than Dart, and they're both equally likely to miss significant time this season. I'm going to qualify that by assuming Daniels will quit bishing about his college jersey number sometime soon.

With all the optimism, I still have safety as the number 1 issue on this team. Tight end is second, but I think Ertz eventually solves that one. And I'm not gonna rule out Stowers making progress and being better by later in the season.

Regarding safety, I know if either Epps or Makuba are out, there's Cooper as a backup. But then you weaken your defense at the slot. I think Carter is being overstated here as an answer. I have him as a solid dime back and Epps as a 3rd safety on a championship defense. Don't get me wrong, Fangio will likely figure it out like he did with Adoree situation last year. Ultimately, looking to bullet proof this roster. Makuba should be your number 2 safety. Been hoping that Howie acquires someone in a trade all Summer, but those options have faded with Delpit extension. Regardless, we lack depth at safety/cb and need another surefire vet in here. CJGJ would be wonderful... if only. 😁 The dream is to hope that Justin Reid becomes available by trade deadline, with only 1 year left after this year (affordable contract) and on a sinking ship he would want out and welcome it. But he's from Lousiana and stated he's comfortable there. Howie had tried to sign him last year in free agency.

I don’t get your logic. Fangio has clearly stated that if the team is in Nickel then DeJean is the player filling that spot. He has also clearly stated that if the team is in Base then DeJean is going to be on the field as one of the two Safeties. Than means DeJean is on the field for 100% of the Defensive snaps. Also, since there is no Nickel CB in Base, how is moving DeJean to Safety weakening the defense at slot? Or said another way, how is taking Epps off the field in Base weakening the defense at slot?

Right now my guess regarding the six Week One inactives is

Dalton

Moore

Stowers

Greenard

Robinson

Jones

Mondon is a possibility, especially if a Practice Squad player is elevated

I expect Covey to be activated to return punts and at least two of the six WRs on the 53 to be inactive. I would guess Moore and/or Cooper.

I also don’t think Payton will dress. And while Dalton would be inactive, he would still be in uniform as the designated third quarterback.
