Well, if Dak's worth $60mm AAV, CJ has a point...

With all the optimism, I still have safety as the number 1 issue on this team. Tight end is second, but I think Ertz eventually solves that one. And I'm not gonna rule out Stowers making progress and being better by later in the season.

Regarding safety, I know if either Epps or Makuba are out, there's Cooper as a backup. But then you weaken your defense at the slot. I think Carter is being overstated here as an answer. I have him as a solid dime back and Epps as a 3rd safety on a championship defense. Don't get me wrong, Fangio will likely figure it out like he did with Adoree situation last year. Ultimately, looking to bullet proof this roster. Makuba should be your number 2 safety. Been hoping that Howie acquires someone in a trade all Summer, but those options have faded with Delpit extension. Regardless, we lack depth at safety/cb and need another surefire vet in here. CJGJ would be wonderful... if only. 😁 The dream is to hope that Justin Reid becomes available by trade deadline, with only 1 year left after this year (affordable contract) and on a sinking ship he would want out and welcome it. But he's from Lousiana and stated he's comfortable there. Howie had tried to sign him last year in free agency.

Don’t shoot me, but I expect the Cowboys to be legit this year and they’ll give us hell both games, barring major injuries. We won’t be able to sleepwalk and take the division.

Right shoulder or left knee?

Think I might watch SB52 this weekend. I can watch that over and over again. Better then SB59 for a few reasons.

Was the first SB in franchise history

Philly special might be the greatest play in SB history

Took down the GOAT

Foles BD energy couldn't be matched

It's also funny when people will post the most negative stuff, downplaying or ignoring any positive, and say "I'm just being realistic."

No, that's pessimism, thinking the worst all the time. Realistic is balanced, looking at all the factors including positive ones. Having excessive anxiety (about a sports team for entertainment btw), constantly harping on the negative, calling a game over in the 1st series of the game, panicking anytime the other team makes a good play (other teams can make good plays and win games too you know), calling the season over after 1 loss, frothing at the mouth hating on everything...that's not "just being realistic." That's not "we're just passionate." No, that's anxiety and extreme, extreme negativity. Get some help.

I'll bet you'd like to play pickle ball with BDN wouldn't ya?! lol (He's a champion in that sport too actually).

I still don't get the hype over the Cowboys defense, and I really like Parker. But, this is what they added:

Rashan Gary - good player who was about to be cut by GB. 7.5 sacks last 2 years, so not terrible at all. But no sacks in the last 9 games last year, no Micah = no sacks.

Dee Winters - basically a JAG they got for a 7th round pick

Cobie Durant - Rams weren't known for having a good secondary

Jalen Thompson - good, not great, but good safety

They lost Osa, who was a very good DT. They drafted Downs and Lawrence, who may be good, but are rookies.

Oh, and the defense was an ABORTION last year.

This is still a bottom 3rd in the league defense.

When CJ Stroud accomplishes in the NFL what Dak has then he can talk.. I mean has he even come close to winning the Good Guy Award that Dak has? Uh i think not

@mattwill

12-5

Devonta Smith has 1300+ receiving yards and 8+ touchdowns and is selected to his first "pro bowl” and makes an all pro team

I haven't seen hype necessarily, I have seen a few writers hoping. They are hoping that the defense is much improved. I haven't seen any kind of preseason rankings or analysts talking them up. My online exposure is very limited to whatever is of interest to me at a given time, I am sure there are plenty of Cowboy Kool-Aid connoisseurs out there claiming they are going to be great I just haven't read it, I avoid that crap.

If they can be anywhere from 18th to 22nd that will be significant improvement and maybe enough to give Dak a chance to bomb in the WC round.

@mattwill

12-5

I really think this defense has the potential to be special. The offense will have growing pains… I do think they will improve as the year goes on.

I realize we don’t really know what the schedule will be like until it’s actually played, but right now it does look to be a little easier than last year’s as well.

Their def is still a year away. Maybe 2

QB wasn’t carried the whole season.

The board has taught me a little about myself. I used to tell people I was pessimistic on the boards because it was my outlet. I sign on to complain, not to celebrate. That may have been true for a time, but it’s definitely not it anymore.

Then I said I was pessimistic because I have high standards. I like to think there’s truth to that, but it probably comes off more as a hollow flex.

What it really is….ive learned….im not actually pessimistic in life at all, for those that know me. Quite the opposite actually. But where I am pessimistic…things I care about over which I have absolutely zero control. I tend to perseverate and conflate negativity on things I don’t agree with and can’t control. (I don’t like the way the eagles build an offense, I just don’t). My job is to control every imaginable variable and outcome…and when I come across something I care about that I can’t control…boom….frustration and assume the worst.

Have you tried fisting yourself? It might help.

I put your name in the title instead of the hidden box. Tee hee.

Ignore the twitter user's commentary spin on Howie's response, just listen to him. The WIP page doesn't have the audio up to post.

Howie said it's not a make or break year for Hurts. All he does is win. Same with Nick. He cares about winning.

Did you really expect him to say ANYTHING else.... Lurie and Howie said Wentz was like a finger on their hands, not going anywhere....soooo

ESPN (sounded like Berman) with the hard hitting questions here.

1: Do you wear special armor for the tush push?

2. What does winning mean to you?

100% guaranteed to be wrong, but it does add up to 272-272. Didn't bother with tie breakers, just predicting records based on the schedule:

Looking at the NFCE I think the NYG can get 7, maybe 8 wins. DAL I had at 10 - 7, but after looking again at the schedule 9 - 8 is more probable unless they pull a couple of upsets. WAS is definitely looking like more regression this year.

I drafted Dak in my money league last night.

The reason I don't like this kind of reply is because when they say something definitive and positive the response is "what do you expect them to say?" But when the response sounds vague or leaves room for interpretation and doesn't sound as confident, people grasp at straws to apply meaning. Dissect it that it wasn't that much of an endorsement. There have been other comments from Howie that left things open, or didn't sound as convincing.

It's certainly possible that if the new system looks good but Hurts doesn't, they may move on. But Nick and Howie continue to support Hurts, even Fangio made positive comments.

Browns and Texans too. Vikes haven't been to one in 40 or 50 years.

What's worse, being a perennial loser like the Browns and not make it? Or the Vikings with the 4th best regular season win percentage and the 4th worst playoff win percentage and never getting their ring?
