EMB Blog: 2026 Regular Season (Part 1)

Featured Replies

I think the bottom line ultimately is this guys. Everyone's going to try to find their way to spin this, but unless you want to have to constantly seek out the best OL in the league, and especially if you want to run a different offense type...

Either:

  • Jalen must learn to deliver the ball faster, and process plays more quickly.

  • Or, we must find somebody who can.

I know that everyone wants to chop off Sirianni's head while they can, but as the offense has, like Foles has said, been showing good opportunities lately that are just not being taken. That's really not anything he's doing, or even Mannion's doing.

No matter what direction we take, we're not getting around the fact that not having the league's best OL year in and year out, means we have to get time to throw down. If Hurts can't do it, it's not a coaching problem. He does, however, need a bit more time than what he's been getting, so we'll have to see how the OL changes work out.

Agreed. Said the same thing elsewhere.

If possible, dump him ASAP. He adds no current or future value, IMO. Main thing is FUTURE VALUE. If we're blowing it up now for the 2028-2029 seasons, get whatever you can for him TODAY.

No Barkley, wicks or Devonta Sunday. Yikes lol

We should just forfeit and try to get guys healthy for the following week lol.

Yikes you guys are negative. I still have them winning the division.

The Eagles are exactly where I figured they’d be. Absolutely any rational person could have seen this coming…and I bet Howie did.

We all knew Lane wouldn’t finish the year and that Jurgens and Dickerson were walking dead. All the other injuries coalesced in one game in which no one pencilled in as a win in the first place. And they’ll all be back soon enough.

The Jurgens trade was an unexpected opportunity, not the beginning of a fire sale. Of course, arm chair GMs around the nfl are already speculating about picking the Eagles dry…so this move will make Howie’s phone ring…and he’ll listen. But they aren’t looking to quit on the season yet.

And the offense? Anyone who didn’t see this coming was insane. The notion that the subtraction of a professional offensive coordinator, underwhelming as he may be, and a malcontent pro bowl wr would magically make the offense better was honestly infantile.

Everyone knew the OL would be rough, the playmakers would be sparse, and Hurts is a poor fit for a timing, quick read offense that doesn’t lead on a dominant rush attack.

All of this doesn’t mean the eagles suck. It just means the idiot fans are in a panic because the Eagles aren’t the foremost juggernaut in the nfl like you were told to believe.

They still have the worst division in the nfl with teams that will choke down the stretch.

I think you have all the bases covered. 🤌

Wicks is LP so he'll likely play.

I don’t disagree but I think fixing the line part has already happened. Cam was a turnstile.

I was fine seeing how Jalyx and Nolan panned out until the trade deadline, like last year (not looking smart so far). I guess if the team was any good, I’d need to talk myself into Josh Sweat. Given how the season is going (middling), I wonder if Howie would even bother buying.

There’s some 7 seed BS in there, iirc.

I mean in 2021 and 2023 it would have been better if he had.

Well according to the media we are now tanking and giving up the season in week 4 after Lane left and Cam traded, SMH. Anything for clicks.

A. 20/20 hindsight

B. He missed five games in two seasons with the Vikings, not exactly "hurt all the time"

C. They let Philips walk who has a way worse injury history, will get a 3rd round comp pick for him, then signed Greenard for 5 million a year less. So Greenard, 5 million in cap space, and a net loss of just a 3rd round pick

D. It's been four games, try a modicum of patience

Big, if true.

Hunt especially and Smith as well have been disappointing this season and their lack of development over the couple of seasons was exactly why they had to trade for Philips and then Greenard. Look at how much better their defense was after they traded for Philips last season. I would imagine the same thing will happen once Greenard gets back to being healthy and gets a couple of games under his belt since he didn't have a training camp. There are a lot of things to complain about and be concerned about with this team, the Greenard move isn't one of them.

Eeeh....Greenard has contributed absolutely nothing to the team through 4 games. Win some, lose some...no one is saying to fire Howie over it. But it's absolutely a move to be concerned about. Guarantee you Howie would pull it back if he could.

Greenard isn’t near the top of my worries. The DE/OLB position certainly would be w/o him given Jalyx’s disappearance since TC.

I'm hoping they at least make us middle of the pack. Middle of the pack would be fine enough to at least do a real evaluation on where we're at.

A. He just had shoulder surgery that ended his season, not hindsight at all. Stupid decision

B. Here's his injury history https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/jonathan-greenard-player-injuries

C. Didn't mention phillips at all. He would've been a waste of money because of his injury history also

D. No

Wonder if we see more of this with Hunt going forward.

Howie has no business buying with this team, much like the phillies this season. And like the phillies, he'll buy anyway

It's a great idea inside the 10, I feel like it would be a disaster pretty much anywhere else

I said at the time there were some concerns with that trade. He was coming off an injury season where he missed five games. In the last four years he had missed 16 games total (21 in last 5 prior to this year; including this year he’s missed 23 out of a total of 89 games which is about 26%. Only year he played all 17 was 2024). Additionally you had to give up draft compensation and an extension while he’s turning 29 years old. I understood why they did it because they needed somebody to replace Phillips. but there were concerns about that trade to begin with. I also found it curious Flores didn’t bang the table to keep him as a a really good DC.

I’m hoping he catches fire going forward and eases those concerns. Been 2 games so basically like his preseason. But even with the potential upside when they made that trade, there were concerns at the time

I will say this, this defense being year 3 of Fangio should be further along and needs to show something this week. All the guys who were supposed to take this next step: Hunt, Smith, Carter and Davis need to show up. Feel like Coop, Q and Riq will shine ultimately. And Carter and Makuba at least on pass defense might have hope. Moore may mix in there as well soon. Plenty of talent there, that's underachieving. I know people are laser focused on the offense. But where's this stellar Fangio defense at? This defense should be close to fully loaded this week. I wanna see something.

Tbh him buying and selling probably is dictated on the next three games. If the Eagles lose to Jacksonville, Carolina and Dallas, they will be 2-5. I really don’t see him buying at that record. Even if they got back to 4-5 with the commanders and giants (not a given they win), they still have another game at Dallas on a short week thanksgiving, Seattle, at sf. Even if you go 1-2 in that stretch probably best you are looking at is 10-7 and That’s if you win all the games against commanders, giants x2, Texans, Steelers, cardinals and colts. With this team it’s not a given.
