There was a game yesterday.

I worked on our kitchen remodel instead.

I believe I made the right choice.

Blaming Howie for the roster is misplaced thinking. The defense should get better production from the edges. They have gotten nothing from the offense and as games go on they break down. If you put this defense with any competent offense and it looks much better. The offense leading the League in 3 and outs for the second season in a row. They have been on the field for 406 plays. That is 3rd in the League. They are on pace for being on the field for 1150 plays. In 2024, they were on the field for 999 plays. It's like they would have to 3.25 more games during the regular season. We have such a historically bad offense it is making a decent defense terrible.

This is a cover up and excuse filled answer. The defense is not good. 2 bad safeties, 1 bad linebacker, 2 bad edges and 1 out of shape starting defensive tackle who huffs and puffs all game and can't rush the passer in year 5. Delusional!

Mind blowing to me that a former NFL QB would take this approach.

I'd believe that with the screens that fail and he wont let go or fix

But it seems like it's been mixing his offense in with Nick/Hurts than running the Shanahan offense. We haven't seen those timing throws week 1-5

He's definitely added more motion than we've done

There's been some hitch routes week 1-5 still

The hyperfocus on the offense here made everyone forget that this is not only a bad offense that this is currently the 27th ranked defense in the NFL. How about this is just a bad football team? Defense has plenty of holes in it. And the so called good players are shells of themselves. How about people start people being real with their criticism? And realize that the team just sucks....from Howie and on down. Howie built us a stinker with little depth to survive injuries. Past Eagles teams win that Panthers game. That was embarrassing.

I get where you're coming from, but I assume you're looking at yards and such, which is heavily altered by our incompetent offense's lack of ability to keep them on the bench and the sheer amount of plays that are run against us. We're middle of the pack on yards per play. If we had an actual offense doing anything, we'd be much better.

Just a note on the Nolan Smith concussion from yesterday. The shot to the head he took hsa no place in the game - I know the commentators said it was ok, but its such a needless way for a player to get injured. With concern about CTE in players, its an easy thing to stop and help player stay healthy.

I think it matters on what kind of directive Mannion was given. Mannion was hired to run the Shanahan/McVay stye offense. They don't really have the personnel to fully run it. Lurie has talked many times about a high passing offense. If they are to stay the course and continue to go down this Shanahan/McVay offense, they will need to evaluate the players they have in this kind of scheme.

They still lead the league in hitch routes

Yea so I don't think Mannion is running his system

I acknowledge the offense stinks. But it's huperfocused on here. People act like this is some Superbowl quality defense. Lot of holes. This is a bad football team.

it's one avg safety, injury riddled edges and one that's not a fit for this defense, and I can't say that I have seen JD seem out of shape this season, but I haven't seen him out there enough. Seems like you're focused on the at least average part of the team.

This lines up perfectly to trade for Tua 🤣

The defense is allowing 22.8pts/game which is 16th in the league; you give opposing pro offenses a lot of extra possessions, they tend to amass more yards and points.

2 very bad safeties. Edge is a problem, no matter what the excuses are. Carter shows up once every few games. Didn't even mention him. Cooper has been not good. Riq has fallen off. This defense doesn't get off the field. Doesn't get turnovers and doesn't get sacks. Not a good defense. We need to get past the part, yes the offense sucks bad. Acknowledged. But the defense ain't sheet.

I think we’re seeing why Kuper was fired by McConnell. Minnesota allowed the quickest to pressure rate up the middle last year.

I'm firing Nick Sirianni and re-hiring Stout.

While the defense has had its issues, I think a lot of it can be attributed to how much they are on the field. The defense is on the field an average of 32:36, which is 3rd highest. They've essentially played an extra game over the last 4 weeks with the number of snaps they've taken. 79 snaps against Carolina, 84 against the Rams, its not sustainable in the 4th quarter when they are playing this much.

Injuries are starting to stack on the defense. In no world does Vic want Ebiketie and James-Newby as his 2 main pass rushers.

Also someone posted a graphic last week I think that showed the defense was pretty good through 3 quarters and, shockingly, were the worst (or close to the worst) in the 4th quarter. It's very obvious that the offense is having a negative effect on the defense. Even yesterday they held one of the best offenses in the league this year (statistically) to 13 points through 3 quarters. No defense is making every single stop

Nick needs to go

So now we have a Howie problem. Right? With crap depth on the defense.

Defense has been doing its job. Look at each quarter. Offense hasn't been picking up its side of the couch. So of course the defense starts to let go

Complexion

Well that was stupid of you.

Let me ask you this, why can't the team run a play action pass? Is that on Hurts or is it possible the design of the offense and personnel (especially the non-OL blockers) are not well thought out and coached correctly? This idea that Mannion's offense is too complex for Jalen seems to indicate he is really not competent to be an offensive coach. Good offensive coaches (Reid, Shanahan, Payton, Johnson and McVay) change their scheme to fit the players. They run concepts that work for the team given the people at the positions. There is nothing that a change in QB will fix for this team. Either Mannion can scheme up and coach an offense or he cannot. All signs point to the latter.

This argument has been tried with numerous other failed coordinators here. Hurts is the common denominator. I'm not interested in re-hashing all the same points all over again and hearing the same counter arguments all over again.

It goes nowhere. People will always side with the terrible QB over every single OC we will ever hire.

Hurts is done for the season

I’m excited to see the super secret playbook that will be unlocked with a full week of preparation knowing McKee is starting.

Surely that will open up the run game, fix the quick pressure from blitzing LBs, fix our screen game, teach Mannion that straight drop backs from under center is allowed.

More likely, however, is that we might look better because Dallas’ defense is just as disorganized as our offense.

Obviously it can't fix everything. Super cool sarcastically hyperbolic strawman post. So hot right now!
